How do I get my screensaver to come on when I leave my computer Posted: 13 Jul 2005 03:06 PM PDT Hi Dottie, Screen savers are often .SCR file types, which you can search for using Start=>Search/Find. Once you've found the screen saver you wish to use you can create a shortcut to it and place it on a toolbar or on your desktop. Right click the shortcut and you can assign a keyboard shortcut that you can use to activate it when you walk away from your computer. ============ <<"Dottie01" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... Transform not reflected in Add/Remove Off2003? Posted: 11 Jul 2005 03:41 AM PDT Hi Gerry, Short version is that the 'intelligent setup', if left on its own will generally believe that when you update from a prior version of Office (MST files only apply to a first install of a product) that if you/users have set things up they probably want to continue to work the same way, so their settings, rather than the Office defaults, or the ones you've set as 'new user' defaults are migrated (carried forward). If you use the 'do not migrate' choice for an individual element or a tree branch, or use the settings value of NOFEATURESTATEMIGRATION =1 for the transform you're telling the installer to replace the user's current choices, features, settings with what you're selecting as part of standardization in the upgrade. Another case where you may see Add/Remove programs not matching is if your ini file mentions a different MST. ======= <<"Gerry Hickman" <net> wrote in message news:%phx.gbl... "Gerry Hickman" <net> wrote in message news:phx.gbl... OK, I've looked into it in some detail. It turns out that Add/Remove programs was correctly finding my transform (I can see from the log file), but for some reason the feature list in the UI was showing Office defaults instead of those set in the transform. I created a new transform, and this time ticked the box "Do not migrate previous installation State" on screen 7 of 24. I then chose to apply it to the whole tree. Reinstalling office on the client machine, and going into "Add/Remove Programs", now correctly shows the feature list chosen in the transform. I don't really understand "Do not migrate previous installation State", does it mean from a previous version of Office or a previous install of THIS version of office? The help file seems unhelpful. LOOKING FOR A .MSP FILE FOR OFFICE 03 STD. Posted: 08 Jul 2005 05:59 PM PDT I am making progress. I can now begin the setup and installation. However once the installation begins about 30 seconds in it says there was an error installing. So with the help of you and a couple of others I am making ground. But can not fully install the std edtion. So I beleive there is still stuff in there from the trial version and/or updates after trial version was installed. When I run the Office cleaner it tells me these files still exist.... So I complete the cleaner and run it again and they are still there, I have tried manual deletion and the computer will not let me delete. Microsoft Office Removal Wizard -- List of files to be removed: "Microsoft Office 2002 AND VS.NET" C:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\Speech\1033\SPCPLUI.DLL C:\program files\Common Files\SpeechEngines\Microsoft\SPCOMMON.DLL I have attempted installation 5-7 times and it stops at the same point. I have sent error reports to microsoft when prompted but do desire a quicker solution. Thanx again for all of your help thus far, please if you have more thoughts or info contact me or reply thanx again. -- JA "Bob Buckland ?:-)" wrote: |

Posted: 08 Jul 2005 05:32 AM PDT Office 2000 verifies the status of each mapped drive connection when selecting the Look In drop down, thus causing a noticeable delay in the initial display of the dialog. Wordpad, Internet Explorer uses the status maintained by the Operating System, which allows these to display quickly. VS "mike" wrote: |
How to make Word the default HTML editor Posted: 08 Jul 2005 12:29 AM PDT Hi SeaMain, Can't tell you if Firefox has a setting to influence this, or if it may be related to the sequence of installs. The Office apps (depending on version) will normally write themselves in as options for Internet Explorer in Tools=>Internet Options=>Programs. Check the value in this registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Default HTML Editor It has subkeys including a shell extension. Have you tried running a repair reinstall of Office with IE active? =============== <<"SeaMaid" <com> wrote in message news:phx.gbl... Both these boxes are already checked. - Check if Office is the default editor for Web pages created in Office - Check if Word is the default editor for all other Web pages Anything else I can try to get Word included in Internet Options as HTML editor? I changed Internet Explorer back to the default browser to see if that might make a difference but it has not. >> -- Let us know if this helped you, Bob Buckland ?:-) MS Office System Products MVP *Courtesy is not expensive and can pay big dividends* For Everyday MS Office tips to "use right away" - http://microsoft.com/events/series/administrativetipsandtricks.mspx |

can windows run in spanish language Posted: 04 Jul 2005 07:16 PM PDT v_moran wrote: I fail to see what this has to do with Microsoft Office. But the answer is "no". If you want Windows and/or Office with a Spanish GUI, then you must /buy/ it/them in Spanish and in the case of Windows, perform a clean installation. You will require a full licence of each.
