5 page document, need three different types of header/footers., I can only seem to create two different headers

Posted: 10 Mar 2013 01:40 PM PDT

I am using Word 2003 at work   and 2010 at home.  I have an existing document (company product literature that uses "Different first page" as the option for header and footer. The company is changing artwork and wants a different unique header/footer on page 1, a different h/f on pages 2-4 and the same header on 5 but a 3rd unique footer on the last page (page 5).  I've added section breaks at Pages 1 (bottom) and page 4 (bottom) as it instructs, but when I go to add the header and footers on page 1, they repeat on page 5. If I change the setting on page 5 to remove "different" first page, then I get the header/footers repeating from pages 2-4 on page 5....  Neither version seems to have any clear ability to do anything other than different first page or alternate even/odd pages.   Thanks in advance

I bought a password cracker which identified the password ( the one I put in place) but that password does not open the document. I get the error message 'The password is incorrect'. Any help would be appreciated. This is an important document. I suspect it may have something to do with using different versions of Office on the home network. I have Office 2003 and Office 2010. Cannot get around prompt for CD (Office 2000)

Posted: 28 Jun 2004 08:56 PM PDT

Hi Julie,

Windows in place upgrades can be such 'fun'. :(

There are no entries for 2000 series products in Add/Remove Programs?

What is the exact error message you're getting?

Are you using the current version of the Cleanup Utility
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301&FR=1
and the current version of MSI?

This article may help in removing Office 2000 manually

Office 2000 Small Business Edition from Win98 to Windows 2000.
As usually happens, they now get bombarded with prompts for the
Office installation CD whenever they try to use any Office program.
And, as is usually the case, they no longer have that CD. However
they do have the installation CD for Office 2000 Premium that was
used for a machine that has since been junked, so it seemed like a
likely candidate to install in place of the SBE.

In the past, I've been able to resolve this dilemma by using the MSI
cleanup utility from Microsoft. But when I run it on this machine,
there are no entries shown at all for Office. And Eraser2k doesn't
solve the problem either.

So what can I do? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. >>

Office 2003 & Office 97, Specifically Access 97

Linda Daniels,
Not sure if it will help the situation, but you may have a look at this:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301&Product=ofw2k

I have never used it to remove configuration information for trial versions of Office 2003, but it may be worth a look.
It does not list Office 97, only 2000 and up so if you use it, it would have to be for the trial version related files.

1. Click on "Start" and click on "Run".

2. Found out that the CD drive was the D drive.

3. Created a verbose log file using "d:\setup.exe /l*v!
c:\setuplog.txt." The
installation wizard pops up and installation begins.

Result:

Installation progresses and completes successfully.

Error Installing Office2000...HELP!!!

Method #1:
1. Clean the cd with warm water and soft cloth

Method #2:
1. Create a flat on another system on the network
2. Map a network drive path over to the shared flat folder
3. Install from the shared flat

Method #3:
1. Have customer burn a copy of the original media
2. Install from the burned media

NOTE: Burned media is typically not supported except
in a corporate
environment. However, the method of creating a burned cd
will allow the files to
decompress and copy across the disk, thereby allowing the
reading of the disk to
proceed more freely. This has been witnessed in several
cases where the burned
media the customer created would install without error
when the original Microsoft
media errors out to the compression of the cab files.

Some Screen Tips Are Missing

Calculating Custom fields

Posted: 09 Jun 2004 12:20 PM PDT

On top of this, you may encounter problems when one calculated field refers
to another.
Imagine what happens when one calculates before the other.
I suggest that you write the formula for C so that it is independent of A
and B.
For example if:

A = [Finish]-[Start]
B = [Baseline Finish] - [Baseline Start]

then I'd write C so that:

C = 100*([Finish]-[Start])/([Baseline Finish] - [Baseline Start])

Jack,

Thanks for the lead but I am looking for some sort of diagram or a design doc.

I have been using MS Project for about 5 years now and I am aware of how the fields work but at times I would input some updates and Project goes and makes some obscure changes like if I update the % complete and the end date Project changes my duration from 4 days to 1.67. Now in the past I didn’t really care I went back and manually changed it back to what it was supposed to be. But now I took a position where the front end of the project is driven by an excel spreadsheet and tracking the overall progress is done in Project. So before I can link all the cells and have the inputs updated by several team members I want to understand some of MSP calculation methods.

I would appreciate any additional help

Error in Project calculation?

Posted: 08 Jun 2004 01:53 PM PDT

Thanks a lot, Sarah

The split view that you suggest is indeed a great way to
work and have the best overview of all parameters. I also
like to add the Work column up in the Gantt part.

I can see the logic applied by Project is indeed the way
you describe. The "fixed work" is fixed also at resource
level rather than only at task level (which is what I expected).

"Sarah" <com> wrote in message

| When you're going to make changes like this to your schedule, I would
| suggest that you split the screen and show the Resource Work view of
| the Task Form on the bottom part, with the Gantt Chart on the top.
| Select the task in the Gantt, then in the bottom you can adjust the
| resources individually. If you initially have one resource assigned at
| 100% for 16 hours, then add another resource without making any other
| changes, Project assumes that the two resources will split the work,
| so each gets 8 hours. Then you tell Project that the second resource

Then do the same way that you did for a single row : drag the bottom line

How to see all notes on screen at one time

Posted: 07 Jun 2004 10:04 PM PDT

Martin,
The method Rod suggested will work fine as long as there are no line
feeds in the Notes text or the total number of characters in the Notes
field is 256 characters or less. If there are line feeds or more than
256 characters, you will need to either manually copy and paster, use an
export map, or create a VBA macro to get the complete text of the Notes
field to another application (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.).

Haven't tested that, but haven't heard of any problems. The worst Project

Conditional Task

Posted: 04 Jun 2004 08:07 AM PDT

IMHO, a project schedule is just that - a plan of what you are actually
going to do. So how to handle the contingency scenario? Decide whether it
is most likely that you'll need to restore one or more servers or not and
build your plan based on that assumption, but with the understanding that
you may have to modify it later if circumstnaces evolve differently. Same
sort of idea as planning to drive from point A to point B via C but with an
alternate route through D in mind if road construction forces a detour
enroute.

So I'll put it on my issues-to-do-list ;-)

[discuss] OxygenOffice Professional 2.0.4 is ready for Download!

Of course, understandable and well sorry but I can´t comment on the
state of any patches from you getting when upstreamed and which issues
might be currently blocking that as I am totally uninvolved in that
discussion.

Yes of course it´s a brand new feature of OOo 2.0.4! But that it wasn´t
there in the past doesn´t mean it might not be useful now.

Can´t help you much there sorry. I do see your problem after installing
your gallery extension, because I can´t read most of the theme names ;-)
Well I know at least that it must be possible because I think I did see
some of StarOffice gallery themes being localized.

This is a very special question where I think someone on
openoffice.org or openoffice.org could most likely
help you.

That should be somehow possible but I am not 100% sure if this feature
is already available in 2.0.4. You should ask that at
openoffice.org or openoffice.org. If the
feature is already there someone might be able to explain to you how it
works there.

As you already said the feature is very new. AFAIK an update mechanism
for extensions is something that is well still in the works but not yet
ready. But again on openoffice.org or
openoffice.org you can likely find someone to better answer
those kind of questions.

That´s a very fresh Wiki page and Wiki pages are always work in progress
maybe you can add that stuff if you found answers on the other mailing
lists.

Kind regards,
Bernd Eilers

Judging from the way the post is worded I believe the problem may be more
basic than that -

In order for the Office 11.x _updates_ to do any good you need to have
Office 11 installed in the first place. The error message indicates that the
user *doesn't* - and may not have any version Office at all.

Download & apply the OS X 10.4.10 COMBO update for Intel, reapply the Office
11.3.5 followed by 11.3.6, repair permissons. [If 11.3.5 won't apply because
of already going to 11.3.6, just apply the latter.] Hopefully that will get
things humming again.

If that doesn't set things right I'm betting an Archive & Install is in your
future:( Don't hesitate to post back if necessary... it really isn't as bad
as it sounds.

Importing excel data to Entourage address bool

Posted: 12 Jul 2007 08:12 AM PDT

Hi Mark,

here's what I would try: create a couple of contacts in Entourage by using
the data from the Excel file. When you've got a couple of contacts in
Entourage, click on File>Export, then select "Contacts to a list
(tab-delimited)". Open the resulting file in Excel and see in which order
the fields appear in that file. In your own Excel file, try to rearrange the
columns so that they match the sequence in the exported file, and make sure
that the headers are called by the same names Excel gives them in the
exported file. Then save that file as a tab-delimited text file and see if
Entourage now imports it properly.

I also experienced the same problem. I updated Quicktime and then I
installed the Office 2004 update and Office stopped working. Every
time I launch an Office app, I get a dump in system.log like this:

RO mapping #0 not in segmentshared region: 0x4821e68: 4 mappings

Developing a Word Plug in for Office 2008

Posted: 10 Jul 2007 08:30 AM PDT

It is possible, using Applescript, to monitor the position of Word's front
most window. It is possible in OSX for an application to create a utility
window that floats over all the regular windows of all other applications.
Combine these, and it becomes possible to float a window next to a Word
document, while Word is the active application, such that your window
appears integrated with Word.

Not *easy* to get right, but possible ;-)

And if you want to take a completely insane-ninja approach, google for
mach_inject ;-) Or not. Actually it would probably be better for you to
forget I ever said that!

The unit I have has an impeller & uses a small dust collection bag. There
isn't any sort of grate or filter - the impeller just draws the stuff in &
blows it right into the bag. The bag has a Velcro closure so it can be
emptied w/o having to remove it from the exhaust port - a rather nifty unit.
Uses 4 AA batteries, so it has sufficient power, yet it's quite compact.

I'm not even sure it's still available - I've had it for years. It came in a
computer care kit I got at an Ames Dept. Store [now defunct] (it included a
3.5" drive cleaner). The vacuum doesn't have a brand name on it, but the kit
was branded as HandyPro & distributed by Ames. I looked around some on the
net & haven't been able to find one like it.

click on Message>Remove All Attachments, or delete the message altogether.
