Can't open passworded protected Mac Office 2011's Word .docx in Office 2000 SP3 with converter packs?

Posted: 09 Feb 2013 07:23 PM PST

Hello.

Is old Office 2000 SP3 unable to open password protected Mac Office 2011's Word .docx in old, updated Windows XP Pro. SP3? If I remove its password when saving in Office Mac 2011 and opening it, then it is fine. Does the converter packs not recognize password protection or something? Opening is detected as Word 2007 format.

Thank you in advance. :)

How does Office 365 HP Work?

Posted: 09 Feb 2013 06:57 PM PST

I subscribed to Office 365 Home Premium and clicked the install button. After installation, when I open a word document, it opens with Open Office. Is there someplace to find out how to use the programs? Should there be desktop icons? I tried to view the videos but they won't open.

How to format a set of keyboard automatically without using Find and Replace?

Posted: 09 Feb 2013 01:45 PM PST

I'm not sure if this feature even exists in Word 2013 and maybe this should be considered as a request feature. Nonetheless, I'd like to do the following:

I usually takes notes for my programming classes and among the writing I do, there's certain keywords that I usually format a special way different than the rest of my notes. This serves for me to highlight them.

I've found myself formatting these keywords as I type them which leads to time loss and frustration. One solution I thought of was to finish first my document, and then use Find and Replace to format in bulk. This could work for me. However, I'd like to know if there's an easier way to accomplish this.

I've been looking for some sort of list that I could add words to, select the kind of output format I want and then Word would automatically change those keywords to the desired format as I type. Since these aren't regular words (e.g. "#include", "cout", "iostream") I don't think there'd be a problem with formatting wrong parts of my notes.

Thanks for any help.

I want to include the name and address of the person the letter is going to, but when I do it comes out double spaced. How do I not have the double spacing?

Posted: 09 Feb 2013 12:17 PM PST

When I include the name and address of who the letter is going to in the document, the name and address come out double spaced. The rest of the letter is single spaced. How can I correct this. I've gone into the paragraph area and told it to be single spaced, but the name and address is still double spaced. Help please!?

Nested IF fields in Word 2010 -- How?

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 02:54 PM PST

I have been driving myself crazy trying to make a multiple IF statement formula work for a table I have create.

The table has a column set with controls to answer Yes or No.
It has another column set with controls to select High, Medium, or Low.

I am trying to make the following statements work (inside one cell):

IF (R2C3 = "Yes" and R2C4 = "High") then return "100"

IF (R2C3 = "Yes" and R2C4 = "Medium") then return "50"

IF (R2C3 = "Yes" and R2C4 = "Low") then return "10"

IF (R2C3 = "No") then return "0"

Where R2C3 is Row 2, Cell 3.

Can someone help me? I just cannot figure out how to nest the IFs properly, and I have not experience with VB.

Thanks!!

OK - try an AD or Windows Networking group.

Also - make sure that all servers and workstations specify *only* the
internal AD-integrated DNS server's IP address in their network settings.
The AD-integrated DNS server should be set up with forwarders to your ISP's
DNS servers for external resolution. See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300202 for more
info.

actually yah - depending on how they chose to back it up. 3rd party
programs are smart enough to be able to restore individual mailboxes, but if
the use the integrated back with 2003 - in order to restore - it restore the
entire thing.

Double exchange servers

Posted: 13 Jul 2004 05:39 AM PDT

I understand that this isn't something you will do in a hour!!
I also have the problem that I already have a exchange server running.
And if I'm good informed I first have to deinstall exchange...
If I want the data also to be bombproof is there a way to accomplish this
with microsoft or do I need 3-party software then?

Thx Ramon

Hi,

I was hoping that someone might be able to tell me why we are having troubles sending emails to AOL. We are using a Exchange 5.5 server.

The bounce back msg. is telling us:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients

Subject: Friday

Sent: 7/2/2004 4:15 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'com' on 7/2/2004 4:16 PM

The recipient was unavailable to take delivery of the message

The MTS-ID of the original message is: c=US;a= ;p=Service Specialt;l=THESERVER-040702231504Z-206

MSEXCH:IMS:Service Specialties:Sylmar:THESERVER 3554 (000B09AA) 554 Connecting IP: 24.199.53.50

Obviously I'm new to this Exchange thing and I'm not sure how to fix it.

Thanks very much.

There is no download available and apparently the windows version is

Do you still have the Win3.1 program for Cardfile?

If you run that program directly, can it open the CRD file from the floppy?

If so, then you need to set up a Windows File Association for the CRD files point to the

Migrating data

Posted: 27 Aug 2004 09:32 PM PDT

Here are the steps you should follow. The real trick is getting the two
computers to talk to each other (either via a network or connecting them
together directly using a crossover cable). If all else fails, there are a
couple other options: purchase an external harddrive to make the transfer or
remove the harddrive from the old computer and plug it in as an IDE slave to
the new computer and then copy the data...

1.. Do Windows Update on the XP machine - be sure to get any updates for
Files and Settings Transfer Wizard
2.. Setup the crossover cable
3.. Make sure the machines can talk to each other directly using the
crossover cable as a network
4.. Make sure Firewall is turned off on the crossover cable connect on
both sides
5.. Run Files & Settings Transfer Wizard on the XP machine
1.. Going through the Wizard you'll be able to make a disk for the other
machine (don't use the Windows XP CD to run the wizard on the other machine)
2.. Leave the Wizard running on the Windows XP box and go to the other
machine (when instructed)
6.. Run Files & Settings Transfer Wizard on the old PC

Hi ZionUMC,

Perhaps these help:

This problem was resolved in Works 7, where a new version of

Works 8 also has a newer version of Works Calendar.

Check Add/Remove programs control panel to see if the programs are still

opening read-only database file

Thank you; I did copy and rename the file as well as remove
all checkmarks in the properties dialog box. In the copy,
the archive file was the one that had the checkmark. Does
that make a difference in how it should be handled?

Thanks.

Synchronising Works Calendar

I've tried their website to no avail.

I was wondering if there was any way of doing it through
Works or if there was any third party software available?

How to link custom task fields to custom resource fields

Steve T --

In the Resource Usage view, right-click on any column, such as the Resource
Name column, and select "Insert Column" from the shortcut menu. Select the
Project field, set the Align Title and Align Data values to Left, and then
click the Ok button. Now you can see the project for each assignment
without having to go to a lot of work. Hope this helps.

Changing the fonts for notes.

Posted: 19 May 2004 02:22 PM PDT

Sorry, don't really know where documented explicity. This way of
applying format to fonts is sort of standard way Windows programs works.
On that control, click on the ? in the upper right corner, then
click on the "thing" you want help on, e.g. the "A" button, and you'll
see help about that "thing". This help feature, along with how font
formatting works, is standard Windows GUI functionality.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Start and End dates on resource usage differ from task dates

Posted: 19 May 2004 08:55 AM PDT

Hi Michelle,
What do you want the start and finish dates to sync
with? What you are seeing currently is the schedule for
the resources to work on the task based upon their
working and non-working time. By default, Project only
schedules resources to work on task during time defined
as working in their calendar.
For example:
I create a 5 day duration task starting today.
Before resources are assigned, the task is scheduled to
start on 5/19 and finish on 5/25 - 5 working days based
upon the project calendar (standard) and the standard
default of 1 day = 8 hours.
If I then create 3 resources:
R1 doesn't work on Monday
R2 doesn't work on Tuesday
R3 doesn't work on Wednesday
I assign all 3 resources to the task.
Each resource has 40 hours of work calculated.
R1 works:
W (5/19), Th (5/20), F( 5/21), T (5/25), W (5/26) for 8
hours each day to accomplish his/her 40 hours.
R2 works:
W (5/19), Th (5/20), F( 5/21), M (5/26), W (5/26) for 8
hours each day to accomplish his/her 40 hours.
R3 works:
Th (5/20), F( 5/21), M (5/26), T (5/25), Th (5/27) to for
8 hours each day to accomplish his/her 40 hours.
The duration of the task is now 7 days and starts 5/19
(the earliest any one resource starts) and finishes 5/27
(the last day any one resource works).
If I want the task to be worked on by all 3 resources but
completely ignoring their non-working time, I can apply
the standard calendar to the task and check "Scheduling
ignores resource calendar" in the Task Information form -
advanced tab.
The task goes back to 5 days, but all resources have just
effectively had their non-working time ignored. They all
work Wednesday 5/19 through Tuesday 5/25.

Does this help?

Grouping by project within Resource Pool

Posted: 19 May 2004 08:49 AM PDT

Hi Cheryl,
I apologize for being less than clear.
The "timescaled" portion of the view is the right hand
side (usually a yellow grid) of the task usage (or
resource usage) view which shows work for each resource
on a daily basis. You may zoom the right hand side to
show weeks, months or whatever you need. The resource
and task usage view is in 2002.
Again, sorry for not being clear. I hope this helps. If
not, let us know and we'll try again.
Regards,
Julie

Robert,
Are you wanting to send the Gantt view or the task list?
If you want to send the task list you can:
1-file save as html
2-new map
3-data to export
A-Tasks
(And)OR
B-Assignments
4-HTML Options
A-Export Header/Import Includes Header
B-Base Export on HTML Template
Choose from drop down Template desired
5-Destination HTML Table Title
Replace with Descriptive Name
6-From MS Proj Field
Select all the Fields you want to export
8-Next
9-Next
10-Save Map--I am assuming you will want to do this weekly
or monthly.
11-Name map
12-Save
13-Finish

You may want to look at this. It is an easy way to get
the info out. You can also automate this with a macro.
Feel free to contact me direct if you have questions on
the above instructions.
Cheers!
Cheryl
