Bibliography to static text in Word 2013 on WIn8.1

Posted: 03 Aug 2014 02:36 PM PDT

Hi

I have been using Reference and Bibliography in writing a book chapter. Now I have to submit static text to the publisher. So I click in the bibliography area, get the bibliography tab appear, click on down arrow and see a potentially greyed out* "Convert Bibliography to Static Text command", which simply does not work.

Cannot find any reference to these difficulties for Word 2013, some ideas for Word 2007, 2010 which revolve around selecting text prior to clicking the convert command.

Also found suggestions for "Unlinking fields" with short cuts of Ctrl+Shift+F9, or Ctrl+6. They don't work either.

So what am I doing wrong or Word 2013 not doing right?

BTW the document stated life most probably as far back as Word2007, but has been saved in Word 2013 accepting the "update to latest version" warning box.

Cheers

Martin

How do you remove the heading style from an outline?

Posted: 03 Aug 2014 12:45 PM PDT

How do you remove the "Heading Style" from the outline.  I tried altering my outline using "Define New Multi-level list", changing the "Link level to style" from a heading to "normal", then changing the font to normal, but so far nothing has worked.  When I press [enter] the outline does not automatically continue. I am in Microsoft Word 2007.

Word Auto-correct

Posted: 03 Aug 2014 05:16 AM PDT

I  am a  fast, hunt-and-peck typist.   Over the years, I have developed a  mess of typing idiosyncrasies and  typos that keep repeating themselves over and over again. In addition,  there are many words  I  repeatedly use which I would like to short-cut into auto-correct.   I have already placed a great number of these into an auto correct mode.  My question:  is there a danger of "over-loading" my auto-correct file to a degree where it would slow down the overall performance of my Word 2013?  Thank you.

Word 2013 won't print envelopes

Posted: 03 Aug 2014 05:04 AM PDT

Hello,

I've just upgraded from Office 2010 to 2013, I had envelopes all set up to print properly before but now I just cannot get it working with my HP printer.

Can anyone help me? Is it the settings?

Basically when I print it there is a border around the envelope but it prints with the wrong orientation no matter what setting I use. Also it prints in microscopic sizes even though I've changed the text size.

Thanks

Si

Problem displaying images inserted into a Word 365 document (relationship ID rId9 error)

Posted: 03 Aug 2014 12:04 AM PDT

I have a problem with word that I'm hoping someone can help with. Images inserted into my document (~140) are not showing. Instead of the image I have the following error message contained within a box where the image should be:

"the image part with relationship id rid9 was not found in the file". Most of the images were inserted by drag and dropping *.emf files into the document.

My doc is 300 pages. Currently the size is about 1 MB but it was previously much larger - presumably the difference is based on the missing images.

In each case any thoughts / solutions would be great because it's going to take an age to reinsert the images and the problem may reoccur!

Thanks in advance,

Darren

Balanced quotation marks

Is there a setting in Word 2013 to check for balanced quotation marks? I often miss closing quotes and would like Word to flag them as errors.

Word document comes up blank

Posted: 02 Aug 2014 04:12 PM PDT

I am a uni student with a Dell laptop, and when I go into my course material and try to open a word document up it will come up do you want to open/save and when I click on open it will start up Microsoft word but all I am getting is a blank document.  Sometimes I only need to open them and then print not save them, so I don't want to save every time just so I can view the document.  It is starting to get very frustrating.  Also the other day, not sure what it was wanting to open the document with, but it said I needed some code to open and when I clicked on it I had about 500 pages of numbers/letters instead of my document.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

No, you have been clear, just totally wrong.

As I have already said, but you chose to /_ignore_/ is that the change is
problably more likely to be a change in the use of the term "tux" rather
than demand for Linux. Or it could simply mean that many more sites are
listed on Google BEFORE yours is listed, meaning that fewer people actualy
reach your link on google. Your claim that the searching habits of people
coming to your site is any indication is so idiotic, it is one of the best
jokes I have ever seen.

Yeah, the fact that you have wallpaper images means absolutely /*nothing*/
to me or the useage of Linux.

So, you are not standing behind your own words, figures.

To bad, that would be about the only thing you could be doing that makes any
sense at all.

So what? That does not mean anything about your site is an indication for
Linux useage, direct or indirect. I do find it fascinating that you seem to
have abandoned your claim about Linux useage just to pick at something I
said. You ignore /*_many_*/ valid points to focus on one point. You are
focusing on a battle to claim a victory after losing the war.
