Dear Community members, I need help with pre-printed letterhead paper.

How can I set that in Word 2013?

Vista - when I paste from the clipboard to Word (2007) the text is fine, but the grahics don't transfer. instead there is a large empty box where the graphics should be. ( No red X) Sometimes there is a small representation of the graphic with a jxx suffix.

when my friend does this on a W7 computer it transfers correctly.

My goal is to use mail merge to forward weather maps and NOAA comentary to about 150 people

Any suggestions appreciated

office 365 Word won't let me type into a new document

Posted: 10 Aug 2013 02:07 AM PDT

I've had Office 365 for a while now and all was good.

However for the last four weeks, or so, I have not been able to type into a new Word document. If I try to the pc just pings at me and refuses to type. No other office programme is doing this. If I open an old document, or save a new document before typing, close it then open it I can type into it.

I have Win 8 and have only installed updates from windows and new video drivers since the problem began.

I have deleted the normal template and let it recreate one on opening, but the problem still exists.

Any suggestions?

Wrong language in Word

Posted: 10 Aug 2013 01:28 AM PDT

When ever I spell check a Word document particularly one started from my templates it uses the USA Spell checker!  I have set the option in Word to be using UK English.  I have even set Windows to be UK English.  Why it is still going to US English for Spell check I can't understand.  I also told it NOT to determine the language.  Trusting it to use UK English as I set in the options.  I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and Word 2010 professional.  I have looked at answers on the Internet and tried some of the changes but nothing seems to stop my documents going to US English rather than UK.  Can any one let me know how to really stop this?  Thanks.

date format

Posted: 10 Aug 2013 12:13 AM PDT

I am working in Word 2007 compatibility mode. I want the print date of a document to appear in the following format:

nth day of month year

The current code I have is { DATE \@ "d" \*Ordinal } day of { DATE \@ "MMMM yyyy"} which displays as 10th day of August 2013

I would like the th to appear in superscript and I would like the date to be the print date not the current date.  What should the code be in order to do that?

I should note that this is going into a template and I want merged documents based on this template to follow the same rule.
Thanks.

Asterisk followed by numbers in footnotes

Posted: 09 Aug 2013 11:42 PM PDT

In a journal I'm editing the title of the article is footnoted with an asterisk and the footnote gives brief biographical details of the author. The next footnote starts with number 1 and the numbers are consecutive after that. Unfortunately some of the original Word versions of the articles start with number one after the title instead of an asterisk.

Is there an easy way to change that number one to an asterisk and have the footnote numbers starting at one after that? The only way I've found to do it is to put a continuous section break after the title and footnote 1 and using References, Footnotes, Number Format change the footnote 1 after the title to an asterisk and hit Restart each section. Then I go into the next section and select Number format 1,2,3.

Is there an easier way?

No response for Word 2007

Posted: 09 Aug 2013 04:15 PM PDT

Hi,

I am using Window 7, 64-bit and last couple of weeks ago I did a Window Update. As a result, my Microsoft Word 2007 acted funny, as follows:

a) when I open a file, it will be no response for 1 min
b) When I move page down, it will no response
c) when I start to type, it will no response for a while and sometimes I could type but letter did not show up immediately.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you.

Word macros don't work when ugraded to 2010

Posted: 09 Aug 2013 03:38 PM PDT

I have numerous Word documents with a button on the bottom of each one that has a macro attached to it that opens an email addressed to an individual with certain parts of the email already filled out for the user.  All they have to do is click to send the email.

After upgrading from XP to 2010, none of the macros work.  I tried changing the settings to "Enable all macros" and "Trust access to the VBA Project Object Model", but the macros still do not work.  As a matter of fact, they don't even appear to still be there.

When I open the documents, they open in compatibility mode and then I tried clicking on "Convert", which seems like it should restore the macros, but it doesn't.

Can anyone offer suggestions, please?

Is there any tool to organize fonts by language in Office

I'm trying to group fonts by languages when I'm using MS WORD so I won't have to scroll all the way down when I'm changing a font to a non-English language.

For example, is there a way to "pin" favorite fonts to make the appear at the top of the font list?

Thanks

The critical part isn't the storage but the hba/driver issue.

IMO best choice at the moment (concerning SAN), qlogic hba with
self-compiled qlogic provided (src) driver. It does redundant
multipathing directly through the driver saving you from using md
devices if you need mp and allows to rescan for new SAN LUNs
without rebooting.

appears to use resistor packs for termination. Check that these are
in place, and if you have any other devices on the same cable, make sure
they come before the tape drive and are not themselves terminated.

If the tape drive doesn't have the terminators, put another deive after it
on the cable and ternminate that device. Or add a simple passive

swapoff /dev/hda2
next format your swap partition with:

The installation of the codecs is very easy: Create a directory /usr/lib/bin32

The next time you you start xine or mplayer, they will both support many many
codecs including windows codecs, realplayer, quicktime and and and.

The installation of xine and mplayer is a little tricky but there are good
chances that your distributor provides packages for one of those players.

xine has the advantage, that it has a fine userinterface, mplayer is more stable

HALLELUJAH!! I did indeed have support built in. The whole problem it turns
out was that in my syslinux.cfg file, I only had:
default linux
append root=/dev/fd0

It turns out I needed to also have: load_ramdisk=1
!!

Is using rdev and a bootloader mutually exclusive? When I created the image
to go on the disk, the 'make bzdisk' also did a syslinux for me. I hadn't
realized it at the time (and I was reading the steps from an old book) and
so I also did an rdev on it: 49152, but that ruined the disk. Then I read
that rdev is obsolete and I should use either syslinux or lilo. (Syslinux
was already on the disk).
Another step I tried was removing the syslinux and then just dd'ing the
bootimage onto the disk and then doing rdev. But upon booting the system, I
got a message saying that this isn't supported anymore and that I need a
boot loader! So that was a dead-end.

So I'm just curious how I could have used rdev now...
I guess the next thing is to try a CD Rom.

Thanks for all your help! Now i know the dd command inside-out... whew. what
a workout!

CRM Demo Machines

Posted: 18 May 2004 09:27 AM PDT

Well, from a clients perspective... it DOES look bad on a laptop with
Virtual PC's.

I had a reseller here with Dell's P4 3.06, 1 GB RAM, and two images - and it
was... far to slow to buy it.

When Microsoft does the DEMO on the product lounches, they do it without
jumping from an image to an image, and they do not do 'crazy' things. They
add a Contact, and such simple tasks, this is why it does work almost OK on
thei DEMO's.

But if you give the client the control of the laptop - so he sees how easy
and fast it is - he will click on Customization, and your PC is stuck for 30
secs...

I had two resellers doing hte demo for an hour and a half. And couldn's
really evaluate if MS CRM is teh tool for us. So I wrote MS and we become a
reseller as well. That seamed to be the quickest way to get teh installation
to evaluate the product for our internal needs.

So think twice about a laptop... :)

Assigning Sales stage to Opportunity

Posted: 17 May 2004 07:49 AM PDT

Nilesh

the Actions-change stage menu option can be turned off through the use of
security roles. Have you changed the default roles?

also keep in mind that if you implement a sales process your users may
decide that using actions change stage is faster then completing or
cancelling multiple tasks per stage. You need to decide whether your users
have to use the tasks as the actions change stage does not complete the
tasks, it only changes the stage

emails arriving at a Queue

Posted: 17 May 2004 12:30 AM PDT

Venkat,
1) create a generic user inm AD (the queue-owner)
2) create a mailbox for that id
3) disable the user
4) set an Exchange Custom Attribute to CRMEmailEnabled

Tell me if the email come multiple times, because I haven't fixed it yet...

Elena

Simple import of Product

Posted: 15 May 2004 08:26 PM PDT

You can use the data migration framework or write custom code. Actually if
you have .net developers it may be a good exercise as its an easy task to
bulk load data using the sdk and once you have created it for one type of
crm object its pretty straightforward to do it for another etc

a long list in Excel with all my Products, would it be possible some how to
import this data?
doesn't work because there are several fields that I think CRM has to
generate the data for (or...?). Anyways, it's properly not a good idea to
play around with the database like this. So what would be the "right" way to
do this, if there is any?
.... big. Is this really the most simple way to do a data import.

Saving when changing pages?

Posted: 15 May 2004 05:35 PM PDT

Something else to consider is the "user experience". It would be extremely
annoying to the user to have the screen "refresh" when they clicked on another
tab. Being a web page, the user would have to wait for the save and then click
again on the tab they wanted to go to since the refreshed page would show the
default tab.

Hi Dave,

It is not possible to archieve this by using the options of CRM. Indeed it would
be really useful, but Microsoft does not offer this option.
But i do think it is possible to add Javascript code to the aspx pages (for
accounts SFA/accts/edit.aspx), which does run the save and close code before
closing the screen. Don't forget microsoft is not supporting any of these kind
of modifications.

Good luck,

Is there any way to automatically save when changing tabs after working on

Thanks!
