Word 2007 & OpenOffice both constantly crashing

Word 2007 & OpenOffice both constantly crashing for a month now and I'm getting desperate. Please help!

  1. The name "DAD :0" could not be registered on the interface with IP address 192.168.1.124. The computer with the IP address 192.168.1.1 did not allow the name to be claimed by this computer.

  2. The server could not bind to the transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{3760F926-EC87-48CB-902D-0164236FE434} because another computer on the network has the same name. The server could not start.

  3. Event Error 123/DeviceSetUpManager: The DSM service was delayed by 30 seconds for a driver query/download/install on device 'STORAGE\VOLUMESNAPSHOT\HARDDISKVOLUMESNAPSHOT34'

  4. The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR4.

  5. The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR1.

  6. A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the Bluetooth Device Monitor service.

  7. The lxduCATSCustConnectService Lexmark Printer service failed to start due to the following error:

  8. The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

  9. Name resolution for the name openoffice.net timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.

  10. The HPWMISVC service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly.

  11. The device Windows Location Provider (location (unknown)) is offline due to a user-mode driver crash. Windows will attempt to restart the device in the shared process 1 more times before moving the device in its own process. Please contact the device manufacturer for more information about this problem.

  12. Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490 – (I think I fixed this one)

Problem with multi-pagination in one doc

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 12:50 PM PDT

I am retyping our Homeowner's Association Governing Documents booklet. There is a cover page, index, and the CC&Rs text; then another cover page, index and the Bylaws text...all with different numbering formats (i, ii, A-1, A-2, C-1, C2 etc. I need to know how to insert multiple page numbers into one complete document.   I'm not super "techie" so very descriptive answers would be appreciated.

Microsoft Word 2013 BUG - titles in text boxes

Formatting paragraphs in Word 2002

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 09:43 AM PDT

I'm using Word 2002. (Just reluctantly upgraded from W97, and that's as far as I intend to go, tried 2010, waaaaay too bloated for my simple requirements.) Everything looks familiar, but there are a couple of quirks that I can't sort out.

The Format Painter does nothing. The icon is there, it even reacts when clicked on, but that's it. And searching Help for 'Format Painter' brings up a list of wholly irrelevant topics, not a mention of the Painter.

The format of a paragraph, i.e. first line indented, is not being passed on to the succeeding paragraph. Not a big deal, but an irritation.

And lastly, for now, when W97 opened a document the cursor was always positioned where it had been when last saved. This isn't happening in W2002, although SHIFT+F5 does work. I seem to remember something about an AutoOpen macro, may have been in Word 6, certainly it isn't mentioned anywhere in Help.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Unable to open Word 2010 files after doing System Restore

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 08:51 AM PDT

Original Title: msxml6.0

Did a System Restore on my Toshiba laptop (with Windows 7 Ultimate). Now, cannot open files saved in Word 2010. Indication that I must install msxml6.0.  How? Why?

  1. What is the exact error code/message when you try to open files saved in Word 2010?

"File Normal.dotm cannot be opened because of problems with file contents."

"Word cannot open existing file (Normal.dotm)"

"Changes made affect global template..."

"File could not be found..."

(Note that I had invoked System Restore.)

2. Is the issue specific to files from Word 2010?           Yes.

Is this a Microsoft clip art image on this web page?

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 12:31 AM PDT

Hi,

I came across an image online on a non-Microsoft webpage whose caption states "Microsoft clip art".  I want to use this image in a book I am writing for sale.  I understand MS clip art is royalty free but I am not certain whether this image is from the collection of MS clip art because I could not find this image while browsing through the clip art within MS word.  Can someone please look at this webpage and verify if in fact it is a part of MS clip art?.  The image is to the left about 1/3 the way down.  It is an image of an "A+" circled and written with a red marker.  If it is MS clip art then is it safe to assume that it is royalty free even though it is not part of the MS word clip art collection.

IMPORTING 13,000 + ABBREVIATIONS *INTO* MS WORD 2003 AUTOCORRECT AND/OR AUTOTEXT

Posted: 06 Jul 2014 12:00 AM PDT

hi,

i am having just an awful time trying to find a way i can take my precious 13,000 abbreviations and somehow put them into MS Word's Autocorrect and/or Autotext.  Mind you, I want to STICK the abbreviations INTO Autocorrect, NOTprint out the existing Autocorrect entries into some sort of a list.

I am at wit's end.  Could someone help?

I know this entails putting the abbreviation list into a csv excel file or something and this is fine, but if you could explain the steps explicitly, i would be most appreciative.

THANKS

Brain Science.

PS - I heard that after 7000 entries Autocorrect doesn't always work well but I am willing to take the chance.

God bless you for your kind assistance.

Word. How the morons at Microsoft make it worse with each release

Posted: 05 Jul 2014 03:50 PM PDT

Back in my college days, I loved Microsoft word. When I went into business, my office used Wordperfect, because the software we used would integrate with Wordperfect. I was recently forced to go back to Word, because Wordperfect wasn't compatible with our NEW office management software. Now that Word 2013 has been loaded onto the computers in my office, I am shocked at how Microsoft has turned a user-friendly program, into a complete pieced of ****. Aside from being frustrated myself, I am really tired of hearing my employees complaint that: (a) the program moves words, sentences, paragraphs etc, that they do not want moved, (b) the program does things they don't want, and can't stop it from doing, and (c) it puts something in a document that they can't remove. What kind of morons are running Microsoft these days? I just can't understand it. On Friday, my office manager came to me telling me she received a document which had a light tan colored comment box running down the right side of the document, and she could not eliminate the comment box. I tried and couldn't figure it out either. Finally, I had to go on the internet to find a forum where others were complaining about the same thing, and someone there told me how to fix it. Really Microsoft? Was this part of the program created by the same imbecile who thought hiding the power-off function and calling it a "charm" was intelligent? How about this, why couldn't you just have the cute little "x" box on the upper right corner, to close the comment box. Just as we've been able to close windows boxes for years. How about the .8 "space" it now adds after each line, irrespective of whether you manually choose your sentence spacing to be single-space or otherwise. Really? what jerk came up with that one. I am amazed. It is as if the idiots at Microsoft are actually trying to make the program more difficult to use. At this point I have lost all hope for Microsoft. I just hope Corel makes a comeback. If my office management software would word with Wordperfect, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

I can't open any Microsoft Office file stored in OneDrive folder.

Posted: 05 Jul 2014 04:51 AM PDT

I have a problem with OneDrive.

I can not open any Microsoft office file directly from OneDrive. for example when I open word file stored in OneDrive, the word goes directly to first page of word as shown below:

When I copy the file to any other location in the PC, it opens normally.

All other type of files open normally except Microsoft Office files.

Then you haven't looked into SSH. SSH does forward and reverse DNS lookups,
to verify that the host claiming to be "sshclient.whatever.com" and which is
permitted to do key-based or host-based access is really, really the host
expected, and so that connections can be logged with the appropriate
hostname so you can tell where someone was connecting from. This is
especially useful in dynamic DNS setups, like Windows machines in Active
Directory and Linux boxes that register their hostnames in active DNS, so
that connections from "mylaptop.whatever.com" are listed as actually coming
from that hostname, not just the DNS.

You can't rely on that in /etc/hosts: /etc/hosts is a serious legacy of when
DNS was awkward and painful to set up, and it was easier to simply publish
an /etc/hosts for your local network than to use a DNS server. These days,
it's easy to run an internal DNS server that handles this sort of thing for
you and avoids the conflicts. It's often done by using "views", that provide
one set of A records for internal use and another set for external or DMZ
use.

some of us do consulting on exactly this sort of thing (like me! I've got a

Related to above. I'm very fond of setting up a good DHCP, PXE, kickstart or

monitor system states, MRTG to monitor traffic, and local configurations as
necessary.

Depends on what you want to do. I like Torque, available at

I actually wrote and published RPM's for it, some time ago, at an old
jobsite. They're still available at

License removal from non existent AD account

Posted: 01 Mar 2005 02:08 PM PST

There is a much easier way, though it is unsupported, but if you have a lot of
users, definately worth it.

The table you are interetsed in is the SystemUserLicenses table. You also eed
to look at SystemUserbase to see what the SystemUserId is for the user in
question. Then, delete the corresponding row(s) from SystemUserLicenses for
that same SysstemUserId value.

Make sure to backup your database first though, just in case. In fact, a simple
copy of the table you are modifying should suffice.

Yes, I had this same issue happen. Here is the fix that I
received from Microsoft CRM Support:

You will need your CRM license key

You will need to be able to log into the domain and into
Microsoft CRM as a user with System Administrator
privileges.

1. Exit all users from Microsoft CRM - I'd suggest doing
this after hours.

2. Remove the license from your deployment. This is done
on the CRM Server.
a. In Deployment Manager (Start, Programs, Microsoft CRM,
Deployment Manager), expand the License Manager node on
the left side of the window.
b. Highlight the organization name. The right side of the
window should display your License Type, the number of
users and your License Key. Print this e-mail so you can
type the License Key in a later step.
c. Right-click the entry that has this information and
choose Delete License from the context menu.

3. Add the license back in the same window.
a. Right-click the blank area in the window and choose
New, License.
b. Type your license key in the License Key field, then
finish the wizard by clicking Next and Finish.

4. In Microsoft CRM, add the license back to the existing
users.
a. Launch Microsoft CRM as a user with System
Administrator privileges.
b. Click the Settings side tab on the Home Page, then
click Business Unit Settings, then click Users.
c. For every user (one at a time), open the User record,
click the Licenses side tab, then click Manage Licenses,
and add the Sales Standard license to each user.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

We recommend that you do not delete CRM Users out of
Active Directory before reassigning their records and
taking their CRM License away. Adding the User back into
AD creates a new Security ID (SID) for the user, which
does not match the SID associated with the existing CRM
User (even though they might have the same login
information). The system is looking for the old SID in AD
when attempting to remove the license.

Am I correct in thinking that once I save the changes in the customisation

Drop you email address to mread ( at ) hotmail DOT co.uk and I will send you
a simple vb sample code. I would post it here, although I don't know what
the etiquette for posting attachments (127k) on the newsgroup is? Matt?
John?

Kind Regards

"setup was unable to register the security service" error on insta

Posted: 28 Feb 2005 08:45 AM PST

have you installed crm in this domain before? Also not the security service
has a debug mode that you can read about in my faq below. Sometimes (not
always) this can help track the issue down.

Hyperthreading: to use, or not to use

Posted: 28 Feb 2005 01:41 AM PST

We run SBS2003 on a Dual Xeon 2.8Ghz with HT and EMT64 (I wonder if we
will see SBS2003 64Bit? !!)

We have 2Gb ECC RAM.

It runs pretty well, however we have a modest install with only 5 users.

CRM Mobile + Certificates

Nathan:

Are your certificates issued by your internal certificate server? If so make
sure that the names assigned to your certs are the ones you are trying to
use with the configuration.

This device registration error can also occur if the SQL server is located
on another server from CRM but the services are running under the local
system account. If that is your configuration let me know and I can post how
to set this up. Also check the two services related to CRM mobile (sorry
cannot remember their names) to see if they are running.

Custom entities

Posted: 27 Feb 2005 06:21 PM PST

we all been new to crm at some point :-)

ok when you launch a custom web app from say an account form, the custom
code can get the ID of the account object. so using this you have a link to
use to connect your new data in your new database back to the crm account

now creating workflows against the new entity :-)

well that would be a trick....i know it is possible to extend the workflow
engine using the sdk but believe you are looking to some major development
to do this. Currently I do not think this is possible although if anyone
knows different I am sure they will jump in :-)

CRM DATA Base

Thank you

I restored the Databases
I pointed CRM to the new Databases via Deployment Manager.

If I try to Access Information via the Webinterface
It gives me a Sercurity Error.

If I want to open Deployment Manager.
I get an Error "CRM system Admin privileges are required to use Deployment
Manager."

The only way I can get CRM back is to reInstalled it

Why is this ?
