XDR-FIXUP download broken?

Hi there.

I'm not sure if you're still looking for this tool, but just to let you
know, I've notified the MS Download Center team of the problem link and
hopefully someone will be able to correct the error shortly. I unfortunately
can't provide an estimated time to resolution.

But you can see the current Exchange service pack on the Exchange System

right pane you'll see the Exchange version + service pack.
If it hasn't the latest, just apply it.

We do a nightly BackupExec w/ Exchange agent backup of the mailboxes and the

Will an attempt to do an on-line backup provide me with more info as to the

That is not working. We've tried all different configurations. I've tried
just the server name, mail.servername.local, servername.local, and the IP
address of the server. Is there any place where I can go that will tell me
what my outgoing SMTP Server is? Or what the name of the Exchange Server is?

error (0x8004010F)

Posted: 03 Aug 2005 04:41 AM PDT

Hi Rex,

Thanks for detailed explanation. I apologize that I was unable to reply to
you soon after you update it. Please understand that it was weekend on my
side when you replied. Now I am still here to do my best to help you.

This topology makes me more confident that the issue happens when there
isn't any replica of Offline Address Book in Location 1 and Location 3. Let
me explain it further.

First of all, based on my knowledge, the error 0x8004010f happens when
Outlook cannot download Offline Address Book from the Exchange Server.
Obviously, when VPN connection to Location 2 is lost, Outlook Clients in
Location 1 and 3 cannot download the offline address book because there
isn't any replica there.

Please follow the steps below to add a replica to both Exchange Servers of
Location 1 & 3.

a. Start Exchange System Manager, expand Administrative Groups, expand the
name of your administrative group, expand Folders, and then click Public
Folders.
b. Right-click Public Folders, and then click View System Folders.

Note If you do not see a View System Folders option, then you are already
viewing system folders.
c. Expand the Offline Address Book folder.
d. Right-click the /o=Organization Name/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default
Offline Address List folder, and then click Properties.

Note If you receive a message that the mail proxy for this folder not being
found, click OK.
e. Add a replica of this folder to both Exchange Server 2003.
f. Expand the /o=Organization Name/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline
Address List folder, and then click the OAB Version 2 and OAB Version 3a
folders respectively. Right-click this folder, and then click Properties.
g. Add a replica of this folder to the both Exchange Server 2003.
h. After replicas have been made to the destination servesr, wait for
replication to complete, and then make sure that the replica folders are
synchronized with the source folders. To do so, view the properties of the
specific public folder, click the Replication tab, and then click Details.
The Replication Status column indicates In Sync.

After that, please verify the Offline Address Book in Exchange Servers in
Location 1 & 3.

1. Open Exchange System Manager.
2. Expand Administrative Group which contains Exchange Servers in Location
1 & 3.
3. Right click each Mailbox Store in both Exchange Servers, to verify that
the correct OAB is referenced under the General Tab. And make sure the
mailbox store is pointing to the Public Folder Store in the same Exchange
Server.
4. Click OK to save the setting.

Then please verify the issue and let me know the result. If there is
anything unclear, feel free to let me know. Thanks and have a nice day!

Microsoft Word - Word 2007 document opens by trying to connect to printer

Word 2007 document opens by trying to connect to printer

Posted: 03 Nov 2013 01:51 PM PST

I have adapted a word document (Newsletter) from previous editor but when I open it, it is extremely slow as it is trying to connect to a printer as it opens. The message in the bottom left of screen says to press ESC to skip. If you press ESC fairly quickly the document seems to open normally.

How do I stop it from trying to connect to a printer while opening?

I'm ok with pressing ESC to get to the doc but I have to send it to many members and don't want to send faulty document.

Assistance appreciated!!

Can't print an envelope

Posted: 03 Nov 2013 01:33 PM PST

This is a reply to Mr. Doug Robbins email to me about what I had put in the MS Community last week.

Community,

I am using MS Office 2007, but this problem is also effecting Corel's WordPerfect X5.  I use both programs because each offers unique features that I like depending on what I'm doing.

The problem is that neither program will print an envelope, all they do is send it through the printer with no address or printing of any kink.  My computer system is using Windows 7, and until about a month ago or so is when the problem appeared.

Things that have been tried to resolve it are as follows:
     1.  Uninstalled & reinstalled both programs.  I also reinstalled my printer.  No help.
     2.  Reformatted my "C" drive and reloaded it as it came from the factory, then reinstalled the two programs.  This worked until Microsoft's 150 updates
downloaded and installed on my computer.  Some of these updates were for older programs and appeared when I did a shut down of the unit.
When the computer was turned on the next morning the downloads did their thing, then the problem appeared.
     3.  "ehow" had a what they thought would work, and that was to change some "HEXKEY" settings, to know avail.
     4.  I even downloaded SP3 from Corel for WordPerfect and that worked for both programs for a couple of test prints, then back to square one.

I also have an account with the United States Post Office (USPS) which allows me to create a mailing label, pay the postage for my package then print the label.  This also does not work.  This is why I feel it is something in the computers operating system that has been made corrupt.

As to the question that Mr. Robbins put in his email to me, there are no error messages, just no printed envelope or USPS label being printed, both are blank.

I hope that someone out there will be able to assist me in getting this corrected.  Also if someone has contact with Microsoft please let them know of the problem.

If further information is needed you may contact me at my email address.  If phone contact or a connection to my computer is needed let me know in the email.

Thank you all for any assistance you may give me in this matter.

Respectfully yours,
William Ruskin

Change the app Word 2013 uses for the "Define" dictionary

Posted: 03 Nov 2013 01:27 PM PST

When you highlight a word in Word 2013 and right click it, one of the options is "Define" to define the highlighted word. The Define option requires you to choose an App for Office that is called when the option is selected.

I associated the Wikipedia app with this option, but I realized later that I preferred Bing Dictionary. Unfortunately, adding Bing Dictionary to my Apps for Office was not enough to replace Wikipedia as the default app for Define. The only way to get the Define option to call Bing Dictionary now is to hide the Wikipedia app completely. I don't want to do this, since I would like to still be able to use the Wikipedia app in different circumstances (i.e., other than from the right-click menu's Define option).

How can I change Word's default app for Define to be Bing Dictionary and still be able to keep the Wikipedia app unhidden and available for use through the Apps for Office ribbon menu?

Track changes issue

Posted: 03 Nov 2013 09:02 AM PST

Word 2010. I am using Track Changes and am fairly proficient at it. However, I would like to remove the option (if it is one) that shows details of changes when the mouse hovers over them in the text. I just want to see the changes as normal insertions or balloons for deletions in the appropriate colour as normal at the side and as default.

The problem is the 'extra' balloons that appear over the actual text if the mouse is hovered over a change (this obliterates my view of the surrounding text), and I'd like to remove just this item.

Word2010 form letter data

Posted: 03 Nov 2013 08:50 AM PST

I use  word2010 to generate form invoices with data stored in Xcel, I have been able to link all data using the

The problem is that if the imported data is a number like 44.99 the data in the form invoice displays as 44.99. But if the

imported data is 45.00 the displayed data will be shown as 45.

As this is an invoice I need to have the xx.00 data shown .

Have tried the formula command in mail merge with no success.

Any ideas a to what is happening and how to fix it.

Licence Type for Word 2013 single product

Posted: 03 Nov 2013 07:39 AM PST

I've just purchased the download version of Word 2013 from the Microsoft Store.

However, on launching Word 2013, it asks me to agree to the licence terms, which start with:

"To determine which one of the two separate sets of license terms below apply to you, check the license designation.  This is printed either on your product key, or might be shown on your Certificate of Authenticity, or on the download page if you obtained the software online. If your designation is "FPP," "Retail" or "PIPC," then the Retail License Terms below apply to you.  If OEM, then the OEM License Terms below apply to you.  If you need help, please go to microsoft.com/office/eula to determine which license you have."

I have two issues with this:

1) None of the download pages have any indication on them that I can see about the licence type.

2) The microsoft.com/office/eula link now directs to the 365 subscription agreement, which isn't applicable.

How to stop Word 2003 from copying layout preferences when pasting?

Posted: 03 Nov 2013 07:11 AM PST

Using Word 2003 on XP. This is hard to describe.  I'm copying text from a website.  I want the text to paste into a Word document using the existing font style and size already used in that Word document.  Is it possible to get Word to ignore some of the formatting its copying?  For example, I copy some text and when I paste it to the Word document it adds a bunch of empty lines after it.  When I backspace to delete the lines all the stuff afterward changes font size to match the thing I just pasted.  I tried removing every autoformat option I could but its doesn't affect this.  Something is telling it to match the font size/style to the joined text.  But what is that and how to stop it?

CRM and Exchange integration

Posted: 25 Jul 2004 11:07 AM PDT

Let me throw an idea (which others, more knowledgeable than I, may like to
comment on).

If you create a new Windows sub domain, e.g. crm.organisationname.com, and
set up CRM in this domain - leaving your original domain in place; your
users can have an email account on both domains (while logging into the new
domain) but all email to the crm domain will be routed directly into CRM?

Anyone like to expand on the viability of this?

Thanks,

Yeah,

I had to try and work it out with trial and error because of the *huge*
amount of documentation on that particular object.

I found a reference in one of the javascipt files that gave 4 as "load
only" - basically a refresh. 1 will save and reload. 3 appear to delete
the current record. I can't figure 2 yet. As yet, I have no idea about the
true, true, false and if anyone wants to shed some light - please do.

SQL 2000 and MSDE

Posted: 24 Jul 2004 02:03 AM PDT

SQL 2000 can have up to 16 instances running on one server/PC. The MSDE
component that is installed by the CRM Outlook Client is just another
instance.

There is no link between the two.

Moving servers

Posted: 23 Jul 2004 12:45 PM PDT

Hi John,

The CRM system server was in one physical location and
was part of a trust set up with a domain that it is no
longer a part of. It's been moved to a different
location and now is the Domain Server in the new location.

If I could just remove the reference to the previous
domain from the user accounts I think everything would be
ok, but this is not possible in the Microsoft CRM
Settings User forms.

I'd really rather not reinstall and redeploy MS CRM if at
all possible ...and it seems that this is what the tools
you point me to do.

Can I not create a new set of users (same as the old ones
but with the correct domain) in AD reassign the existing
licenses to the new users and then reassign the contacts,
accounts etc to the new users? The system has no
customizations or custom reports of any importance, so it
seems like this might be a more expedient way of doing
things. What are the drawbacks to this approach?

marking it with the default value?

Assigning Staff to accounts

Posted: 23 Jul 2004 11:53 AM PDT

Dave,

Is this a one staff member for each Account relationship?

If so, you could go the other direction from Contact and use Parent Account
instead. Create one account for each Staff member.

crm licensing questions

Posted: 23 Jul 2004 11:32 AM PDT

Hi,

I believe (but am open to correction) that you should be able to buy MS
licenses on Open Licensing. Also, there is a promotion running at the
moment that if you buy/upgrade SBS 2003 Premium then you can get 5 standard
CRM licenses for $99 each.

You should evaluate whether your client needs the pro license - do they need
workflow, product catalog, quotes, orders, etc?

cant use action pack for the companies you provide the software for. i spoke
with ms crm sales at ms, they told me about 939 for the sales pro license
per user. i just thought maybe there was a cheaper bundle or something for
action pack, but something my client can use.

CRM License

Registering Microsoft CRM
Once Microsoft CRM software has been acquired by a
customer, it will need to be registered in order to fully
enable use of the software licenses. For orders placed
within volume licensing, the registration process will be
as follows:
1. Customers obtain licenses through volume licensing
and receive their licensing agreement information.
2. Customers, or their partners, obtain registration
keys by entering their licensing agreement information
into the Microsoft Business Solutions Software
Registration Web site:
https://mbs.microsoft.com/mbsregistration/ChooseRelationshi
p.aspx
3. The Microsoft CRM registration keys that are
provided via this MBS Software Registration Web site will
enable the appropriate software modules and users.

I found that the best thing you can do is contact MBS and get the training

frustration is some questions exactly reference phrases in the training

Have you tested this with accounts added after the the security was put in
place? There have been some cases where secury updates haven't trickled out to
existing data properly.

Deleting products with Great Plains Integration

Posted: 22 Jul 2004 02:54 PM PDT

Michael,

I'm not sure how they set this up, but if you had to, you could manaylly delete
the records via SQL. You need to be caref when doing this as there are several
tables associated with products.

Another option would be to manually override the Status in CRM back to "Active".
Then the integration might process it properly.

With Great Plains Integration, is it possible to delete products in CRM and

When I delete a product in Great Plains, the product is marked inactive but not
deleted in CRM. These are products that are not used in quotes, orders, etc. so
there shouldn't be a referential integrity problem.

After a product is marked inactive in CRM, if the same product is added back to
Great Plains, the attempted integration to CRM fails and the product gets stuck
in the Integration process until it times out.

We need to be able to delete and re add products frequently to remain in synch
with our suppliers. Is there a way to do this?

URGENT: Issue with Closed Activities

Posted: 22 Jul 2004 01:33 PM PDT

Dave,

The problem is that changes made via the CRM web interface do not get "synched"
with the SFO client until you go through the "Go Offline" synchronization. it
is during this process that the 2 sides are synched up.

It's kinda a hassle, but I'm afraid that's how it works.

All,
I hope you can help, especially you MVPs. You guys have been an

In our implementation, which is CRM Pro Suite 1.2, I am having an
issue with closed tasks.

When a user creates a CRM task it shows up both in the activity list
and in the task list in Outlook, as it should, but when they go into
CRM and close the task, it remains open in their Outlook task list.
Another issue, but one that I know is related to this, is that when a
reminder comes up about the task and they click snooze, it doesn't
update the task information.

Any help. I bet this is something simple, but I wasn't able to get to
the bottom of it on my own.

Big TIA,

Usually the uninstall cleans the registry with too many problems. If you find
additional issues, you can clear out the Local Machine\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM
key from the registry, but you usually don't need to.

yes your right. While you cannot make updates to the CRM SQL database unless
you are doing it though the CRM interface or SDK you can read the data
directly with no problems at all. In fact i alsoways recommend looking at
the database structure as it helps to know where all the data is stored and
honestly it is not difficult to work out unlike other solutions out there.

If you upgrade your domain controllers, you will be ok with CRM. I believe
that the CRM Implementation pdf outlines how to do this.

You are going to need to migrate to crm 1.2 as part of this, and this is
outlined in the manual as well.

Good luck!

What does it mean when it says my custom field is undefined?

Posted: 22 Jul 2004 10:49 AM PDT

I don't think it would be a conflict, as custom schema fields are
prefixed with the CFx (where x = the data type, ie. D for Date, P for
Picklist, etc).

Now, I'm not much of a programmer, but if you say:
var strId=crmFormSubmit.crmFormSubmitID.valuealert(str Id);
alert(strId);

are you not telling strId to = itself?
