How can I set up word 2007 to NOT change font to MS Mincho whenever I type a zodiac symbol?

Posted: 25 Oct 2014 08:50 AM PDT

Whenever I type any of the zodiac symbols the font is changed to MS Mincho and I have to change it back. Even in my web browser these symbols are forced to be rendered as MS Mincho. I particularly dislike the way these characters look in MS Mincho and would like to prevent MS Mincho from ever being a usable font, however I can't delete it because it's a "Microsoft Protected Font"

So can you please help me out and let me know how to remove it or completely disable it? Because it doesn't display the zodiac symbols properly and they are being forced to display in MS Mincho.

converting a word document to PDF

Posted: 25 Oct 2014 07:57 AM PDT

Hi

I have built a 10 page word document for publishing on my website

I have installed a picture into this build and selected a page colour of blue-grey text 2 lighter 40% and converted to PDF

I require PDF for my Flipbook build software

the built PDF page shows a different lighter colour that of a much lighter blue-grey unspecified  I cannot find it in the standard colour options

Thinking it may be an issue as I had sent this Word build via Hotmail to a fellow webmaster, he adding his content then returning the document I then decided to start a NEW word build

printing off the original Word document I retyped the entire document onto a new build

Converting to PDF I got the same lighter colour result on the PDF build

So finally I did another Word build, this time just typing in a few words onto the page adding my blue-grey page colour , saving all and converting to PDF

it worked !!!!

Any ideas as to what is going on as I have been building these word/PDF files for months using this colour and have had no problem

I have incidentally removed the previous versions from the Word system and I still get this lighter colour in any new build

thank you in anticipation

Can't reliably backup macros, autotext, quickparts

Posted: 25 Oct 2014 06:18 AM PDT

In order to safeguard my macros, autotext and quickparts, I've been backing up the relevant files (normal.dot, normalemail.dot, building blocks ) from %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Templates

However, when I restore the backed up files to

%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Templates

they often do not have the backed up data (macros etc)

I have been restarting the machine before and after to ensure it isn't some kind of memory effect at work.

To make it more puzzling, it is not consistent: ....sometimes it does work. More often it doesn't

Office 2010 Office Home edition with Office Starter

Posted: 25 Oct 2014 06:17 AM PDT

I recently opened Word Starter and had licensing issues. It said to Uninstall and reinstall if problem persists. Well, I did the wrong thing and uninstalled Office 2010. Tried to  restore to earlier date, but couldn't do it for some reason.  What is the licensing problem and do I have to purchase Office to solve the problem? Is it possible to reinstall Office?

Word 2013 not opening transferred documents

Posted: 24 Oct 2014 05:32 PM PDT

I have had a problem opening documents in word that are created on other computers.  This is a work PC and we normally share documents via Google Talk and email and every time I attempt to open a document I get this error message:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/solidsnake07/Capture.jpg

I hope that someone is able to help me resolve this issue because it gets really annoying to do work arounds.

Thank you.

Recent documants

Posted: 24 Oct 2014 05:21 PM PDT

I can go into Word Options and click on Display and in the "Show this number of recent documents" I can change the number to 0, but when I come back later it has reset itself back to 17. Why give the option to change it if it's going to default back to 17?

There are  other who use this computer and I don't want them seeing my recently opened documents!

MS Office XP's version of MS Office Doent Imaging can open .MDI files but did not have the MS Office Doent Imaging Printer,
Office 2003 and Office 2007 do have that optional installation feature. In some cases you may need to set MS Office Doent
Imaging to 'Not Available', to uninstall it, restart the PC then readd it with the Doent Imaging Writer using Office 2007 choice
in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel.

=============
OK, you are right. I went back to the machine that had Office 2007 on it
and I went to the "Microsoft Office Tools" folder and clicked on "Microsoft
Office Doent Imaging" and got a message "Insert the Microsoft XP
Professional with Frontpage" (mind you this was from Microsoft Office
Professional 2007), which I did and then, Microsoft Office Doent Imaging
was installed! I did get confused as I thought it couldn't find the .mdi
driver.

So I have two machines that have Microsoft Office Doent Imageing
installed and neither of them will recognize a .mdi file. The only file
format available in the drop down menu is .tif.

So perhaps you can tell me where to get the driver for .mdi files.

Thanks >>

Have Office 2003 and 2007, can't open .mdi files

Office does not install Office Doent Imaging by default. It is included in
Office 2003 and 2007. Go to Add Programs in the control panel, scroll down to
Office, click change, find Office Doent Imaging on your setup disk, run all
from my computer.

Hi, mightymini,

To install the upgrade version, one of the following requirements must be
met: . A valid qualifying product, such as Microsoft Office XP, Office 2000,
or Office 97, is installed on your computer.
. The installation media of the valid, qualifying product is
available.

See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=834008 "You cannot send a
doent as an e-mail message from an Office 2003 program". I believe
the article also applies to Office 2007, but just in case I'm wrong, you
should back up your registry before fiddling with it.

Your best route to solve this issue with the Office Enterprise Edition is to contact the IT person at the Company from where you purchased this Enterprise Edition through the Home purchase program. They are the ones that hold the Volume license and can help you with your issue.

Office 2007 Enterprise vs Ultimate

Posted: 06 Sep 2007 08:42 PM PDT

When it comes to an Excel key, if it was in fact an Excel standalone key it
would only work with an Excel standalone product. Standalone keys are not
interchangable with Suite keys and vice-versa.

Ultimate and enterprise keys are interchangeable however. It really isnt
that odd that you dont have Ultimate components since you have not installed
office using ultimate media which contains those componenets.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your reply and the detail information about how you fixed the
issue. I am glad to hear that the problem has been fixed after extending
the Group Policy scripts time out setting (it is not related to the account
permission as the policy is in computer startup).

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact me. It is always my pleasure to be of assistance.

Have a nice day!

| Hi Emily,
|
| Thanks for your reply. I have done some further testing and can confirm
the
| following:
|
| The computers where installation failed were older computers and took
about
| 20 minutes to install Office 2007. Logging on as a standard user or as an
| administrator makes no difference. The installaion runs smoothly for the
| first 10 minutes until the time out for GP logon scripts is reached. From
| this point on you get a few errors in the event log saying that office
has
| not installed correctly.
|
| Setting the time out to longer fixed the problem. (Computer
| Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Scripts/Maximun wait time
for
| Group Policy scripts) I set it to 2400 seconds to be safe as another
older
| computer I tested it on took 30 minutes to install.
|
| With the above setting, Office installed without problem even if no one
logs
| on to the computer.

invalid product key for office 2007

Posted: 06 Sep 2007 05:04 PM PDT

You mention an old computer, so I'm guessing you are now trying to
install your copy of Office 2007 on a new computer? If yes, and if your
new computer came with a free trial version of Office 2007 already
installed on it, then you need to uninstall the free trial software
before you install your purchased copy of Office 2007.

To quote

You could have purchased a retail edition or OEM edition, you dont say, and
whether you can call MS for free support depends on this fact.

Yes, of course. As a result the search space is reduced slightly. It is
still, however, in the bajillions. It's a good tradeoff.

Do you have "PermitRootLogin yes" in /etc/ssh/sshd_config? I'm not
saying you should, but it would explain the inability to ssh.

Caveat: I am not running Debian "etch."

Intel's 2200 chipset has enjoyed full kernel support, since 2.6.x. (x is
some variable which I don't recall. It is definitely supported with
kernels I use- 2.6.16.22, 2.6.17.13, 2.6.21.5.)

Beside the kernel module, you need the matching firmware. Get a matching
firmware here:
http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php

The firmware is installed at /lib/firmware in Slackware.

Or else, you might find the firmware specifically within Debian package.
As I said, I couldn't advise in you about the specifics of Debian.

If they do borrow another keyboard and see if it will do the quote. I doubt it

is high because the vice is considered a crime. Is there any sense in this?
