Upgrading from Exchange 2003 Stndrd Edition to Exchange 2003 Ent. Posted: 08 Jul 2008 03:06 AM PDT since front-end server does not host mailboxes it only provides OWA, SMTP,HTTP to clients...so....what do u think that i should i upgrade Front-End server to Enterprise???...while upgrading back-end server does not any suggestion it is implicit to upgrade that!!.. furthermore, can 64-Bit ADC coexist with 32-Bit DC?? please recommend a good exchagne 2003 clustering article which outlines step-by-step procedure thanks. all users outbox not sending, nothing coming in inbox Posted: 07 Jul 2008 11:48 AM PDT yes the db was mounted. found out the smtp protocal stopped. so I restarted it and was OK. I would assume it would restart when I restarted the server or the Exchange INfo Store but I guess not. but I never saw that happen before i.e. the smtp just stop by itself, while every thing else kept chugging along. any thoughts on what could trigger that? thanks for the input! 5.7.1 Message Refused and .LOCAL error Posted: 02 Jul 2008 11:24 AM PDT Thank you very much for the insight. It was very clear, concise and most of all helpful. This helps clarify a lot. can a mailbox be scanned and repaired on the server? Posted: 01 Jul 2008 01:23 PM PDT I suspect the profile was that way when I got here. Client uses Outlook 2003, which I set for cache mode, and I started creating pst's of folders before getting to work. there were no ost's or pst's on the workstation before I began, errors are fairly benign: user cannot share Tasks. thanks, "Ben M. Posted: 01 Jul 2008 10:32 AM PDT It can take up to two hours. How long did you wait? "Mark Roberts" <com> wrote in message news:googlegroups.com... Never mind. Apparently a restart of Exchange was required to force everything to update. Following the restart, all is well. |
Posted: 30 Jun 2008 06:13 PM PDT Hello, Thanks for your feedback. Since the most possible cause has been eliminated. I suggest you consider the following situation: 1. Check if all the emails the user send out show up as " com "? and everyone else see the same thing from their Outlook client? This issue may occur if a faker use that user's name as sender to pretend sending email to others. Therefore, people will see " com " instead of AD display name because this email is not actually sent from the genuine user. This situation may occur when sender use SMTP command to telnet your SMTP server's 25 port and send email with fake sender address. To test it, let the user send out email to everyone using Outlook with his own profile and see if issue persists. Telnet to Port 25 to Test SMTP Communication <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/153119/en-us> 2. If the issue persists, please send me a test from that user if possible, my email address is com If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please help me collect some information for further investigation: Information Need ============== If possible, please capture some screenshot when the issue appears and send them to me : com Hope this helps. Cannot access Global Address Book Posted: 30 Jun 2008 06:12 PM PDT Hi Eli, No problem. It doesn't matter. :) For other issues that are being discussed in other posts, I am just testing and performing research. In this post, let's just focus on our original GAB issue. I'll reply to you as soon as there is any update on that issues. Thanks for your time and patience. Posted: 28 Jun 2008 05:34 PM PDT Sorry for not including more details. I have one FE and one BE server, each running Exchange 2003SP2. All clients are running Outlook 2003 in cached mode with the exception of a few network administrators (self included) running Outlook 2007. I first saw this problem on my mailbox. I solved it by moving all my mail into a PST and then moving it all back. I am now seeing it on several users- a more than 200mb deltak between their local and their server mailbox size. Each folder has a delta, and the larger the folder, the larger the delta. I tried using PFDAVADMIN but I got an error that the connection timed out when I tried to view objects under "inbox". Also, do you know what causes this? It hasn't been a problem (at least visibly) for the last few years and nothing has really changed in terms of antivirus, server role, etc. Any advice would be appreciated. Posted: 24 Jun 2008 11:51 AM PDT John, I have checked the IIS logging file and did some testing. The following are the testing that I did: 1. Receving a normal email. 2. Receiving a VM notification email. After receiving both of the above, I looked at the IIS log and compared the two logs. The two logs are identical, except for the fact that the VM notification email log has a few extra lines at the beginning of the log, which is the following: 2008-06-30 21:30:26 192.168.3.5 UNSUBSCRIBE /ExchDAV/com/ - 80 PACER\user1 192.168.3.5 Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/6.5.7638.1 207 0 0 2008-06-30 21:30:26 192.168.3.5 POST /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync User=user1&DeviceId=0B4A738CDB9C80D1B7745EB69FF4AB E6&DeviceType=PocketPC&Cmd=Ping&Log=V4TNASNC:0A0C0 D0FS:0A0C0D0SP:1C17I37497S2309356R0S0L900H0P 443 domainname\user1 166.190.32.5 MSFT-PPC/5.2.404 200 0 0 As I have mentioned previously, I used Treo 650 (with Good Mobile Messaging) and did not have this problem, but I have not tried using ActiveSync with any other device.
