FrontEnd Ex2k3/Firewall config Posted: 07 Jul 2005 08:33 AM PDT Dear Jim, Thanks for posting here. I noticed that you have submitted a duplicated post in the newsgroup below: Microsoft.public.exchange.admin In order to avoid confusion, I have followed up that thread in the above newsgroup. If you have any concern, please also post back in that thread. Meanwhile, Jim, I noticed that you usually submit the same question in several newsgroups. In order to avoid confusion, we usually only work with customer on one thread, and archive all other duplicated posts. I hope you can understand it can make us more convenient toward the solution and lessen the confusion for both of us. So in the future, I hope you can identify the property of your question and then submit it only on one related newsgroup so that a dedicated engineer only focuses on this question. I highly appreciate your cooperation and understanding. Thanks and have a nice day! Lee Li |

Automated setting of permissions on user folders in the inbox. Posted: 06 Jul 2005 11:43 PM PDT Sounds like you need a product called SetPerm. you can download it here: http://www.slipstick.com/files/setperm.zip You have to be logged on as a user with access to every mailbox, and there are some command line switches you have to use to start it. But, it does allow you to make changes to all the mailboxes in the organization and to specify which folder you want to change. Good Luck! "Mal Osborne" wrote: |
Posted: 06 Jul 2005 01:23 PM PDT Save? In productivity and performance? Probably lots! In monetary terms? I doubt you will 'save' in the short term, but maybe in the longterm. You will pay for Exchange and Windows and CALs. You will likely pay for an Exchange-aware backup solution. You will probably pay for an Exchange-aware antivirus solution. You may pay for an Exchange specific reporting application. You will get control over your email. Confidential messages sent within the office stay within the office. You get a lot greater performance from your email server. Messages sent from the secretary to the boss get delivered immediately with MAPI. With a POP solution, you have to wait for the boss's email client to ask the server if there is new mail. You save on WAN bandwidth as your internal mail does not go out to the internet. You save yourself from having to backup email from everyone's workstation, as with Exchange it remain in the store. Now there are numerous other features within Exchange that may have a value for you that can translate into 'savings'. Shared calendars. Public folders. Resource booking, like conference rooms or projectors. Task assignment. Mailbox delegation so the receptionist can take care of a manager's inbox in his absence. These things add vaue to many many companies. Maybe they fit your needs, but don't get stuck on the 'sticker price'. William Ken F wrote: |
Setup OWA in a Exchange cluster Posted: 06 Jul 2005 08:17 AM PDT I have read that paper. It is very informative but was hoping there might be some references on the internet with exact steps on how to setup a FE Server in a clustered environment. "Matt Stoodley" wrote: |
Central Calendar. Does it exist Posted: 06 Jul 2005 07:32 AM PDT In news:com, Matthew <microsoft.com> typed: As I mentioned, a public calendar folder will do this for you. Well, it isn't an aggregate of every user's mailbox calendar folder....it's just a shared calendar, good for company holidays, staff vacations, etc - there are other fancier things you can do, with third party tools, but most companies I know just use it as an additional, central, calendar. |
