     A month or two ago, about a year after I obtained my Acer "notebook", when I clicked on my word documents, instead of turning on my word starter, 
I would get a cryptic message that said -- "The Microsoft Office product to open this file is not installed on your computer".
     I can open the files, but I have to turn on the word starter program first, and then search for the document, and open it, thereby disproving the notion that i don't have a program that will open it.  WHAT GIVES????
     Also, when I used wordpad to see if it would save documents in a form that i could readily open, to make it easier to add bits and pieces of documents to create another document, it refused to save the document, until I got rid of an asterisk at the front of the document format name, then it worked OK.  
What is going on here?
     Does Word Starter or Office Starter have an expiration date?  Is this microsoft's way of telling me?  Or has my computer been hacked?

Phantom crosshatching

Phantom crosshatching suddently appeared on my MS Word documents!  It is not a watermark, it is not a background fill.  

I notice that the cross hatching lines up with the margin marker not the indent marker; I notice also that the image fits within the margins on all sides of the document except on the bottom edge.  There it seems to be cut off.  Perhaps most importantly, the image does not print out on the finished document..

Cannot Open Exisisting Saved Files or Download Important Documents

Everytime I try to open an existing document from Microsoft Office, or, I try to open and save an important file to my documents on my computer, my computer will not let me. I keep getting the pop-up 'Try opening Office and fixing the problem'. I tried that, but I don't know what I am doing. Can someone please help me? I am in school, I have important work due, and I cannot work on any of it. Thank You!

Webpage created in Word 2013 won't display properly in IE10

I have created a webpage in Word 2013 and saved it as Web Page (*.htm;*.html). It won't display properly in IE10 unless viewed in Compatibility View. One would think IE would support webpages created by another Microsoft program. What can I do in Word 2013 to make the website display properly in IE10 in non-Compatibility View?

When I click "Sign in to get the most out of Office" I always get the error message: "Sorry, we are having some temporary server issues." I can log into my SkyDrive just fine. Help?

I have recently upgraded from Word 2003 up to word 2013.  I have numerous macros which I previously organized in custom toolbars, which were used for one click addition of text to documents which I create.  is there any suggestion as to the best way to replicate this in Word 2013 since one apparently cannot add custom toolbars.  I have windows 8, and word 2003 does not interface well at all.  Therefore I feel like I must make the upgrade to Word 2013 and do something to my toolbars.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

it just tells us to install a email software [we have outlook and the mail app both running fine] and if we have one installed to set it a the associated program with the file. please help.

Does anyone know if it's possible to hide or totally eliminate the triangles in the margins of Word docs, used to expand or collapse the text?  I am finding them to be totally annoying.

I have Office 2007 running in Windows 7.  I have a lot of .docx files and also .rtf files.  I want to be able to set the default program for just the .rtf files to a program other than Office Word 2007.  I tried setting the default program for one of the .rtf files but that seemed to changes every Word file on the computer.  So can anyone tell me how to set Word 2007 as the default program for .docx files and something else as the default program for .rtf files?  Of if that can even be done.

Is it possible to edit or format the appearance of the "Microsoft Office Signature Line?"  I like the digital certificate, but the font rarely matches the document or form I'm using and sometimes I'd rather not have a big X and the underline.  I'm currently using either Office 2007 or Office 2010.  We'll be migrating soon to Office 2013, but it's use is limited to few individuals in my company.

I am a busy book editor, and spend hours working in Word. I've just installed Office 2013 on a Toshiba with Windows 8 (ugh). I can work just fine for an hour or so, but then I get the error message above. The screen goes grey, the hourglass pops up, and it becomes all but impossible to type. It does this for every character I type. Does the dang brand-new computer need to REST? Is there a Windows/Word fix? I do not have any applications open other than MS Word and Internet Explorer. This problem is interfering with my meager income. Can anyone help?

When trying to open a file in email, I get a window saying there is a problem.  The computer fixes it, but still, I can't open an attachment. What's going on?

 

My printer information seems to be lost.  I was connected to HP Photosmart 6520, but now I can't print because the only thing that shows up is one note, which I don't want or need.

I AM UNABLE TO ACCESS MY MICROSOFT SOFTWARE PROGRAMS. EVERYTIME I TRY TO OPEN ME RESUME' OR ANY FILE THAT WAS CREATED IN MICROSOFT, A RED BOX APPEARS SAYING THAT SOMETHING WENT WRONG. PLEASE HELP ME TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE SO THAT I CAN MOVE FORWARD WITH THE WORK I AM TRYING TO DO.

Separate settings for the header and footer

I have a multi sectioned document.  I want to put a header on the first page of each section.  I have done that and it works fine.  the problem arises when I want to put a footer with page numbers for each page of each section.  When I unclick the "different first page" option for the footer, it changes the header settings also.  How do I input different and separate settings for the header and the footer.  I have MS Word 2010.

Trouble finding files in office 2007.

I tried to clean up and consolidate my offic2 2007 file. Specigicalli Word and Excel. They we scattered amoung several locations. My goal was to bring everything together. Well, I made it worse. Before Word or Excel would just go directly to the list offiles. Now is goes to the computer icon and I have to search all over for the file I want. I addition I still multiple location some with duplicatr files. Can some one help me?

Can only write in Archive mode

I can't write using Start or any other window in Word, only in Archive mode. Whenever I try to write in any other mode the keyboard doesn't work, i.e. no letters appear. If I clicko on the formats - Normal, Headline 1, etc - Archive mode reappears and I'm stuck with the same problem.

 

I'd like to reinstall Word but don't know how since the whole Office package was preinstalled on this computer.

 

What should I do?

My microsoft word stopped responding a few days ago. I have tried restarting the computer, I have tried going into programs and features and repairing it. It still is not working. Everytime I click it, it just has a pop up screen that says something went wrong. HEEEEEELLLLPPPPP!!!!

Printing in Word 2010

I'm trying to print a poster in Word 2010 and I'm having problems. 

 

I've changed the size to "D" and increased it by 300% but the enlarged image ends up getting pushed off of the page.  I'll keep trying because it has worked without issue in the past - I'm not sure if it is a Word problem or a print driver issue. 

 

However, I noticed that the sizes of the pages all appear wrong.  Any suggestions on why this is or how to fix it?

I am noticing that the table of contents has included text which I did not intend to have a 'heading' style, and somehow I am unable to change it.  Since the document is private, I can only share it privately.  It is like dealing with a stubborn person...

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me.
i'm in the middle of doing assignments the first four are fine i start a new one then my page seems to have shrunk? when i say  page has shrunk the part where you type your letter etc.
I think i may have accidentally clicked on something i'm unsure exactly as i'm new to using this program.

You can really see the need for a new Windows 8 touch version of Office on a smaller Win 8 device.


My fear is that they will dumb down Office touch like the Modern apps which take a lot of screen space to accomplish a few tasks.

Hello!three months earlier,I have writed sth and I saved it as a Word document.Yesterday,whrn I tried to open it and read it again,It couldn t open.When I double-click on the document name,all it appears is The item X that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved,so this shortcut will no longer work properly.So,why did this happened if I didn t do anything at all?After finishing writing the document,I saved it and left it that way.Now,I reaaly need it but it is impossible for me to open it.What could I do?Thank you.

I am running windows 8 with Microsoft Office 2013 home and student version.

It was working fine then it stopped and I don't know why.

I cannot open my saved  word documents or excel documents.

When I try to open word it try's but nothing happens.

When I try to open excel it comes up  with a pop up error and reads " There was a problem while sending the command to the program"
