Hello!

I am in a computer course at school and I need to create a Word document with the color theme Green. I am using 2010 and that option doesn't show up. if anybody has either the file for the Green theme from 2013 or the numerical values for it, I'd appreciate it!

Microsoft Word prints instead of opening file

Posted: 21 Dec 2014 10:20 AM PST

I recently uninstalled an earlier version of MS Word from our computer; we have Word 2013 on it already.  Now, when I try to open a file, it prints instead of opening.  I tried setting the default to be Word, but obviously, that isn't working.  It's weird and I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to fix it.  It seems that uninstalling the earlier version corrupted something.

Whilst writing a word document and switching to the net to copy and paste links my document froze. I have noticed a small square above the up arrow of my right hand scroll bar. I have not seen this icon before. I am not very experienced in using word and would appreciate any available help.

Thank-you, in anticipation

Printing too small

Posted: 21 Dec 2014 08:20 AM PST

I am printing a document on 8.5 x 11" paper using Word 2010 on an HP LaserJet P2055dn.  Often when I print the document, the text on the printed paper is small, as though I had shrunk it, e.g., the margins are too large and the font is small.  I suspect that there is a setting that is in correct, but I have been unable to find a setting that looks as though it is incorrect.

Any suggestions as to where the problem may lie?

MergeTools software from Doug Robbins

Posted: 21 Dec 2014 07:37 AM PST

I have a question regarding the MergeTools software from Doug Robbins.

I have saved Merge Tools - 20140218 in the Word Start-up location as detailed in the merge tools document and used it to send personalized emails with personalized attachments. However, when I close the file (Merge Tools – 20140218) and reopen it later, the tab Merge Tolls is gone from the Ribbon. Does somebody know if there is a way to keep the Merge Tolls tab on the Ribbon?

Thank you in advance

Managing Word Templates in Organization on a network location

Posted: 21 Dec 2014 03:53 AM PST

Hi

We use Word 2013 and started to use corporate templates

currently, our templates are located on our SharePoint Online, which means they're on the web, though most of the users have the template directory synced offline to their local drive with OneDrive for business so choosing and opening templates is very easy and friendly.

The problem

when someone finished to create a document and want to send it to someone who's not in the corporate network, or even worse, to an external user - their word hangs on the file opening and causes word a massive delay.

we saw that as a workaround, if the document creator "Divorces" the document from its original template via "Developer >Document Template" and then he send it - the document open smoothly.

I'm sure it shouldn't be that difficult. we don't need to start educate users to change all their documents' template back to normal

I don't mind loosing the ability to have the documents update according to their template if something will change on the template in the future.

we just need the templates as a format starter when creating new documents

The Question

what should be the best way to work with templates on a web \ network location that aren't necessary available on the receiver's side?

thanks

Word Has Stopped Working/Does Not Open

Posted: 20 Dec 2014 09:24 PM PST

When I try to start Word, a popup asks me if I want to allow the following programs (Word) to make changes to my computer. I click yes (clicking no doesn't do anything and shuts it down immediately), then another popup appears saying "We're sorry, but Word has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Word will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?" It then gives me the options of Repair Now, Help, or Close. Repair Now does nothing, and Help brings me to Microsoft's help section. I have not been able to find a solution to my problem so far. All of my other apps are working: Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc., just not Word.

Help with Word 2010 TOC

Posted: 20 Dec 2014 04:19 PM PST

I really need some help. I am struggling with creating a TOC for my dissertation. I must have APA style headings. Word 2010, at least mine does not have APA Style so I have created my APA level headings - 5 levels. After the second level the headings are part of the paragraph that follows like so:

Level 3 heading:

Now is the time for all good men. Blah Blah fhfhfhhfk lslsllshfhfhllll etc.

Level 4 heading:

Now is the time for all good men. Blah Blah fhfhfhhfk lslsllshfhfhllll etc.

Level 5 heading:

Now is the time for all good men. Blah Blah fhfhfhhfk lslsllshfhfhllll etc.

I have been highlighting "Now is the time for all good men" and clicking 'Add text" "Update Table" "Entire Table" and the entire paragraph that follows the title I want in the TOC is also included in the TOC.

HOW do I stop the entire paragraph that follows from being included in the TOC? I have watched videos and I have tried highlighting the offending text and choosing the "Normal Style" - this does nothing. I have tried to delete the text, and yes that works but as soon as I update the TOC the text returns! This is absolutely crazy making. If anyone knows how to manage this I would greatly appreciate your help. Also, I am not super tech savvy so if you can explain what to do in simple, easy to follow terms, you will save the left half of my hair from being pulled out.

Thank you.

Office 2007 Upgrade won't recognise previous version

Posted: 19 Feb 2008 04:45 AM PST

Hello Penny

I am having similar problems and would appreciate an answer. Some
background of my case:

Outlook keeps crashing
Tried to use repair from control panel, add/remove programs - it says
"product installation is corrupted, reinstall".
If I try and reinstall, I have same issue as you, it comes up with "the path
you have chosen does not have a qualifying upgradeable product".

I have tried office 2003, XP and 200 CDs and even tried installing works
7.0. It neither recognizes the CDs nor the installations.

I found a Knowledge Base article giving the details that Carey gave, but
this does not reflect exactly what I see eg:
Enter the product key and click OK - I only see a continue box
In the Product Compliance Check CD Key box... I don't see anything that
tells me that is what it is called, I get a window that is titled "Locate
your earlier version of Microsoft Office". And again no OK box, just a
continue.

This might seem like pedantry, but it would suggest that what I am seeing is
not what is being described.

At the moment I am seriously regretting the "upgrade" to 2007 and wondering
if I can get a refund for all the copies we bought for our company.

Best Regards

Ashley

I suggest try this link to read what Microsoft has to say about
replacement CDs. You will need to speak to somebody at MS and explain
to them so that they can help you get replacement CDs for your installed
products.

Hope this proves useful.

Set Default Office Font with GPO ?

Hi Thomas,

Not really, there isn't a single setting for that. Each app has its own method for defining default styles and the fonts that go
with them, and there are settings for each of these. You haven't mentioned the version of Office you're using. You may want to
have a look at the Office Resource Kit (ORK) for the version you're planning to deploy.

Re-installation of Office 2003

Posted: 18 Feb 2008 01:36 AM PST

No, since this is a migration across versions I would recommend to
reconfigure manually. This is a far less painless process than fixing all
sorts of weird issues later. You'll need to start with a new pst-file anyway
when you want to take advantage of the new UNICODE file format.

Enabling other language in office 2007

Posted: 15 Feb 2008 01:51 PM PST

Hi Richie,

The F6 key works during the conversion process when the IME is active.
Normally F6 in Word is the 'Next pane' accessibility key in Office 2007 ('Other Pane' in Office XP and 2003) and seems to take
precedence, but you may want to use the link below to also post in the MS Word International features group. I usually just switch
from the IME toolbar after assigning a keyboard shortcut to switch to the Japanese keyboard in Windows control panel as mentioned
previously. When switching to a Japanese keyboard that pops the IME toolbar into view.

Office 2007 long installs

Posted: 15 Feb 2008 12:52 PM PST

Hi Kelli,

MSP patch files in Office setup aren't supported if you're using GPO deployment. Both types of installation are covered in the
Office 2007 resource kit at http://microsoft.com/office/ork
If you're using a GPO deployment then the customizations basically take place in the product config.xml files and in the scripting.

working without much luck. I have a GP with a startup script for the

Installing / Reinstalling / Adding - Office / Media audio

Posted: 15 Feb 2008 09:48 AM PST

Hi K.C.,

It's possible that it's a Vista or Media Player rather than Office issue.

I'm able to play all of the 19 sounds (many with 'zero' length in Nero Showtime, Windows Media Player and Irfanview as well as when
inserted into a Powerpoint 2007 slide. In Irfanview, for example, the shortest actual length is 0.1 seconds for click.wav and
arrow.wav while Media Player reports them as 00:00. You may want to check to see what result you get with Irfanview,
http://irfanview.com

You may want to use the link below to also post this in the MS Office Powerpoint discussion group.

It's a hunch that this is the problem. There are a couple of posts on this subject in the net.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for looking at my post and replying. I may have missed some
details in my post, due to my frustrations in not being able to put
together a relatively simple package.
Yes, Terminal Services was installed in Applications Server mode -
these servers are going to be part of a Citrix 4.5 farm. Citrix 4.5
has also been installed. My machines are newly built Dell 1955 blade
servers. I followed KB311241 closely. This was a fresh install of
Office 2003. Again, I chose 'Not Installed, Locked and Hidden' for
the components I did not wish to install. I also chose 'Do not migrate
previous installation,' even though this was a squeaky clean
installation.
The command line I used to install the package was:

msiexec.exe /i "Z:\OFF11\pro11.msi" /t "Z:
\OFF11\CtxOfficeTrans.MST" /qb-

BTW, after this installation, if I run the Custom Maintenance Wizard,
I can un-install the components that I don't want. However, I would
prefer a clean server, hosting cleanly installed apps and no leftover
crumbs from un-installed applications.

Thanks again,

Bob W.

Office 2007 Reactivation

Posted: 14 Feb 2008 03:40 AM PST

Thank you for your response.

Please accept my apologies for not mentioning that the troubleshooting
suggestions contained in KB919895 had already been tried, but much of what is
contained in that article did not seem relevant to this issue.

The only symptom experienced is that the Activation Wizard fails to start
and that no error message is received (as mentioned in OP)

However, results obtained were as follows:

Method1: The time and date settings on the computer are correct.

Method 2: Options>Resources>About reports that the version is Home and
Student and that it is licensed.

Method 3: Deleting Opa12.dat does not enable the Activation Wizard to start.

Method 4: The internet connection is functioning normally.

If you are able to make any further suggestions, these will be much
appreciated.

TIA

Rebel,

I am sorry I cannot help you.

But I have the same problem installing MS Project 2007 Professional. On my

error message regarding .cab files.

I have tried installing from the desktop as well as the CD. My copy is also
legit and the files do exist on the installation folders. The program just
will not open them and says it is an invalid location.

Just curious, did you extract this from an ISO? That is what mine is, and I
am wondering if that may be the problem.

I have searched everywhere for a solution but can't find anything.
