Dual booting - 32 & 64 bit versions

Ok ... Thanks for that Pulse... I have a question ... it appears from the
last of those links that I can't have both versions activated with the same
CD key.

If I activated 64 bit and later had difficulties would I be able to uninstal
the 64 bit version and activate the 32 bit version with the same CD key ?

Regards & TIA

What app are you using?

Here's the info on the api from MSDN.

Remarks
This sample illustrates how to save the size, location, and state of a
Window so the Window opens in the same position it was closed. Furthermore,
this sample is multi-monitor aware, which means that if the monitor on which
the Window was closed is disconnected, the Window is shown on a connected
monitor instead.

This requires using the following Win32 APIs (from User32.dll):

WINDOWPLACEMENT: To store window size, location, and state (see
WINDOWPLACEMENT Structure).

GetWindowPlacement: To retrieve the current WINDOWPLACEMENT data for the
window before it closes (see GetWindowPlacement Function).

SetWindowPlacement: To restore the WINDOWPLACEMENT data when the window
opens (see SetWindowPlacement Function).

The WINDOWPLACEMENT structure is physically stored on disk using the
Microsoft .NET Framework support for strongly-typed application settings
(see Application Settings Overview).

The answer to the second question is to shift-right-click the icon on the

Word 2003 - "File Conversion - ~$FMaker" Add-in Template is not valid. (C:\ Program Files\...\~$FMaker.dot). Windows XP

Posted: 26 Dec 2012 06:18 AM PST

Hello.

When I open Word 2003, I get the following:
"File Conversion - ~$FMaker"  with a list of 3 choices: Windows (default), MS Dos, Other.  Other is checked and Japanese (shift-JIS) is higlighted (not by me).

The sample box below still shows english letters but not in the right format. Changing to Windows (default) does or selecting another language in Other does nothing.

Clicking on OK, it then says, "The add-in Template is not valid. (C:\ Program Files\...\~$FMaker.dot).

Initially when this occurred, I could create, read and save files but not print - printing comes out with nothing but strange characters.  Today, I am still getting the message when I open Word but printing is normal.

I am using Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3.   No problems with Excel at all  Thank you for your suggestions!

Create a word document with unlimited margins?

I don't want it divided into separate pages; I don't want it to only have 8.5 inches of width to work with, I just want it to be limitless. I only want it to wrap when I do a carriage return. I don't plan on printing this document, so the difficulty of fitting it all within the dimensions of a physical sheet of paper is not an issue. How do I set up my document to work like this?

Reinstall after Factory Restore Application Version Does Not Match

I can type documents in Word but it won't open docx files and when I try to save new files in Word they wouldn't open. I did a diagnostic and it said to install updates. I did and now when I open word this message appears "application version does not match." I did second diagnostics and it found no problems. After the update I can open docx but only by right clicking and choosing "open with" and choosing Word. The icons look like note pads instead of regular Word icons.

Generating documents by populating a database / form

Posted: 20 Dec 2012 04:08 AM PST

Hi folks

I'm not sure of the best way to go about this.  Basically, what I'm trying to do is find a way whereby a user can fill in a pre-defined form, which will then generate a number of sub-documents on the basis of the data entered into the form.

I have the templates of the documents that I want populated, but I'm not sure of the best way to link them to the form.

I was thinking of having the form consist of bookmarked text form fields, which could be filled in and then linked to the relevant parts of the sub-documents.  But my problem with this is, I could set it up initially, but when I wanted to create a new set of documents, I'd have to copy the form and then redirect all the new sub-documents to the location of the new form.  So, I don't know if this is the right way to go about doing this, or if I should be looking at mail merges or some kind of combination of processes.

The people that are looking for this are very specific about what they want - and they basically want to fill out the form and let magic take care of the rest.

I would appreciate any help or thoughts!

Thanks

Rodney, Whether a mistaken post or not, I figure you have earned the right
after all the years you have been helping out in this newsgroup. I am a
holdover from the days of Works 4.5 when you, Omar, Kevin and others used to
twist and wring every last bit of functionality out of the software and
share your results here. I still use Works daily, and have used Works on a
DOS, ME, 95 and 98se machine, and finally broke down this year and bought an
XP machine. I dread the day that Microsoft produces an operating system that
would not allow me to use 4.5.

As Microsoft changed the focus of Works, and this NG has evolved into a more
general NG with more OT questions from newbies, I have been glad to see new
folks such as Erik and Ken step up to help out the MVPs and other regular
posters. I also don't want to put down, or be 'mean' to folks like Craig who
have good intentions, but are sometimes less than helpful. We were all
newbies at one point, and should not be chided for ignorance of how these
newsgroups work or the occasional OT post given the gamut of software now
included in the Works Suite. In my opinion this is a place to learn, and
everyone should be encourged to participate...even Craig. I meant no
disrespect.

Anyway, I will continue to look for your posts and tips, and....which NG
does this other DavidF post in? With a name like that, he must be pretty
sharp <grin>. later...DavidF

CLIP OF ART PROBLEM!! HELP!

Posted: 06 Jul 2004 05:31 PM PDT

Hi Nancy,

To insert "any picture", then use Insert>Picture.

Browse to the file you require.

In Works 7, to insert ClipArt, you have the option of loading ClipArt
direct from the Works CD, to save hard disc (HD) space.

You may also, if space is not an issue, load the ClipArt onto your
HD and thereafter load ClipArt direct from the HD, saving time.

Copy the file: Wksv7std.sbs from the CDROM to your hard disc.
When asked, you can redirect Works to this new location.

You need to do a File, Save As to a format that other programs can use.

CSV (Comma Separated Values) text file can be read by any spreadsheet, data base or word
processing program. However, this will have just the data and none of the formatting.

You might also try a dBase format (DBF). Most data base programs can read this and it
contains some of the formatting.

Hal,

What exactly do you want to import from those files? The financial
data that would be in one of these files doesn't really fit into any
of the objects in CRM.

Bottom line though, you will need to use the SDK to write a routine to
update CRM. How you get the data out of the file file is up to you.
