Hi,

You must make B and C dependant on A (FS), and set A's constraint to As Late
As Possible.

Resource planning (hours need per week, per project)

Justin,
See below
Leveling and contouring are two completely different things. In your
initial post you mentioned something about a resource starting at x%,
ramping up to y% and then back to x%. That contour might relate to
either a "Bell" or "Turtle" shaped assignment profile. Contours can also
be custom generated by directly massaging the Work field in one of the
Usage views.

Leveling on the other hand is a Project function wherein Project
attempts to move the schedule around to eliminate overallocated
resources. Tasks can be given a priority level to help the leveling
algorithm know which tasks should not be moved and which can be moved.
Leveling can be done on various timescales (e.g. day-to-day,
week-to-week, etc.). The message you saw relates to Project detecting
overallocation of a resource and therefore suggests that that resource
should be leveled
It sounds like you are confusing contour profiles with leveling. See the
answer to question 1.

Timescale distortions

Posted: 13 Mar 2006 12:35 PM PST

Jack,
Thanks for your reply. I wish this was the case, that I had the wrong
format, unfortunately I think I do. The dates work fine for the beginning of
the timescale and then changes as you look to the end of the timescale. In
addition, the timescale is correct until you print it out. That is to say,
what you read on the screen is changed when you print it out.

Ah... That helps somewhat. I still can't convince Project that it needs to
do something different with a task that uses a resources that has a different
calendar than the project.

Where do I go to find the answers to questions like this? It's very
frustrating to try to use Project and have it do non-intuitive things to me.

How To Track Estimated Time but Create A Window Of Time to Do It

Posted: 13 Mar 2006 12:19 PM PST

There are several ways one could handle your scenario. Duration, first of
all, is the time that elapses between when work is first done on the task
and when it is complete. It is NOT the "window" in which you might do the
task. Duration is always a period of observable physical activity. In the
case of your phone call, whenever you make that call you're not going to be
doing anything else at the same time and you're not going to keep the other
party on the phone for 2 days. You're going to make the call, talk for 30
minutes, and then you're done. That's a 30 minute duration task with you
working on it 100%, doing .5 man-hours of work. If you have in hand all the
information you need to carry out the conversation on Monday morning you
could make the call as early as Monday 8am. You need to have done it
sometime before the end of the day on Tuesday. My preferred way of handling
that would be to show the call as a 30 minute duration task, perhaps with a
Start No Earlier Than contraint of Monday 8am, and a finish Deadline of
Tuesday 5pm. The only time I'd show it as a 2 day duration task would be if
I intended to have it done in little bits and pieces spread out over the two
days with the first little piece starting Monday at 8am and the last bit
finishing Tuesday at 5pm. If the nature of the work was such that you could
spread it out over two days, it started on Monday at 8am and you finished it
Tuesday at 5pm, doing it so the work actually did spread out over the two
days, it would be a 2 day duration (16 hours) task with 0.5 hours of work
and you would be working on it at a rate of little over 3%.

Multiple resources on task need to be scheduled the same time

Posted: 13 Mar 2006 11:38 AM PST

Hi,

First, do use leveling, it is nonsence to use a software and not use part of
it.
Leveling has an option (see below in the leveling window) "Leveling can
adjust individual assignments on a task": check that off.
The parameter also exists on task level: insert the column "Level
Assignments"

Time scaled Baseline does not roll up

Posted: 13 Mar 2006 11:00 AM PST

I'm using the latest version, Project Pro 2003 SP1 (11.1.2004.1707.15).

This is isolated to just one project, other projects are copying the project
summary task time scaled data appropriately to the Baseline time scaled data.

For Rick, when I refer to time scaled data, I am referring to the right side
of a Usage view. When I am referreing to table data, I am referring to the
left side. The table view is reporting baseline correctely the time scaled
view is not but only incorrectly at the project summary task. All other
summary tasks are copied appropriately.

For your specific need, it must be done outside of Project.

Updating hammock tasks

Posted: 13 Mar 2006 07:07 AM PST

No, Dale - you said the hammock runs for the duration of the project. The
project summary task would seem to do exactly what you wanted. If you must
have another hammock, you will have to enter Actual data like %Complete as I
don't see how Project can determine this. It would seem to be possible to
use vba to achieve this result: try the developer newsgroup if you want to
do down this route.

MS Word 2010 editing: black blocks and other distortions

Posted: 02 Apr 2015 02:20 AM PDT

I have just started using MS Office 2013 on a new HP laptop and while editing in Word I suddenly lose my blinking cursor insertion point so I cannot see whereabouts in a particular word my cursor is. It works ok in Print layout view but not Draft view, which is what I usually use. I have tried shutting Word down but still the same problem. It happened for a short while yesterday but then started working again and now this morning it isn't working again in any of my documents. I expect there is a setting somewhere that needs turning on or off but haven't a clue what to do. Any ideas how to fix this annoying problem?

There are older posts in the forum about this happening to other people but none of their replies have helped solve it on my laptop or are too old to apply to 8.1 version.

Actually I should have mentioned on the 2000 to 2003 article, follow it step

From there follow it along!

No, the new server will always be the second server and that is just fine.
Once you are done with all the move processes, then you remove the first
server.
So I would follow the Mchange.org article, then drop back and do the MS

Once you are satisfied everything is working right, shut down the Exchange

We have Exchange 2003 (Not Service Packed yet ). I have contected MS
PSS and the next plan is to uninstall and reinstall the Exchange
router. I will send an update if this works, not massively hopeful
though :-((

that patch was applied to the server, but not the client as this was not
happening through SFO? Should I still apply the client side patch?

I have not seen any solutions out there so this means you may have to create
custom code. Honestly I have been working with microsoft CRM since before
V1.0 and this is the first time i have heard of this request.

I guess the solution would simply be a tool that scans hyour opportunity
table and sees

SBS2003 with 1 network card

Posted: 09 Nov 2005 06:55 AM PST

Thanks for your replies!

We have tried this with and without a cname and with and without a host
(using host headers). It seems as if the cname resolves back to the server
name, which is was doesn't work in the first place. Am I missing something
in how the cname works?

Rob - yes, the computers are on the same domain. I will have a look in the
security log and post any info back.

Integration CRM & Navision

Hi,
Yes i can do this.. with DMF (data migration framework) i can develop
application for you for this. The great plains will be supported with final
release but microsoft should think about navision support as well.

Thanks,

Trying to install CRM 3 on Small Business Server 2003

SBS by default creates a domain.local internal namespace and only creates a
forward lookup zone in DNS for domain.local. Try opening a command window
and see if you can ping your server.domain.co.uk and see if it returns and
IP address. If not you either need to create a Forward Lookup zone for
domain.co.uk or manually add a record to the LMHosts table to handle the
name resolution.

You should probably follow this up in the early access newsgroup instead of
here.

CRM & IIS configuration during installation of CRM

The other setting to look out for is taht CRM disables viewstate which will
affect any ASP.Net controls that you use.

CRM has its own web.config file. The settings which are in there are
overruled by the web.config settings in your app. If there is nothing about
sessions in your web.config, then these are being disabled by the crm's
config file. (<sessionState mode="Off"/> is one of the lines in crm's
web.config file).

Hope this helps,

Great Plains Integration 3.0

Posted: 08 Nov 2005 04:13 PM PST

I am aware of that, however: on one of my previous posts on the 3.0 board
they told me to use the suggestion tool to post suggestions for the next
version of integration... But the suggestion tool does not have a category
for posting 3.0 suggestions... so they show up here.

It's a type of endless loop, you see...

Thank you though, I won't do it again.

Oliver and Bharat thanks.

Again there are many organizations within the state so yes we probably share
some namespaces.

IE: 123.state.gov
abc.state.gov

So they many be *.state.gov but we have others with
123.state.xx.us

and similar.

I think we configure that if an email on 123.state.gov is going to
123.state.xx.us or abc.state.gov then I can configure smtp connectors that
would basically say route to the appropriate server. Else if not this then
send to Internet.

I thought this was doable but there have been some disagreements and I
wanted to confirm it was. Seems to be so.

Was this change required as the result of introducing Exchange 07?

You might try WebDAV. That way, you only need http ports (80, or 443 for
https) open to whichever location the application is running at.

Here's the first example that I could find:

Store.exe Eating up Memory

Posted: 12 Feb 2009 08:13 AM PST

I think I'd look into why it's not "eating" more RAM. Exchange 2007 will
allocate about 90% of available RAM to db cache by default. When other
processes need memory, or make a call to allocate contigous memory, then the
working sets of other running processes get trimmed. If you trim the
store.exe working set too much, you end up with insufficient db cache and
performance suffers. You may want to look at the procces working set
counter for each instance to see what's up.

Filtering Junk Mail from your own domain

Posted: 11 Feb 2009 10:55 AM PST

Roman B. <microsoft.com> wrote:

The sender filtering option is great, and works. All too well, as you can
see. There really isn't much else you can do, unfortunately. Mail spoofing
is a dreadful epidemic nowadays. You could have your ConstantContact send a
copy of the mail to another address (a Gmail account?) if you need a copy
yourself. And maybe getting mail from the WSJ or NYT isn't that important to
your business - I can't say. You might try using a hosted service like
Postini to see if it helps with spam in general so you can undo the sender
filtering.
