Posted: 09 Jun 2004 12:20 PM PDT On top of this, you may encounter problems when one calculated field refers to another. Imagine what happens when one calculates before the other. I suggest that you write the formula for C so that it is independent of A and B. For example if: A = [Finish]-[Start] B = [Baseline Finish] - [Baseline Start] then I'd write C so that: C = 100*([Finish]-[Start])/([Baseline Finish] - [Baseline Start]) -Jack "JulieS" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1a77801c44e70$15bf51a0$gbl... |

How do some of the column relationships work? Posted: 09 Jun 2004 08:48 AM PDT Jack, Thanks for the lead but I am looking for some sort of diagram or a design doc. I have been using MS Project for about 5 years now and I am aware of how the fields work but at times I would input some updates and Project goes and makes some obscure changes like if I update the % complete and the end date Project changes my duration from 4 days to 1.67. Now in the past I didnât really care I went back and manually changed it back to what it was supposed to be. But now I took a position where the front end of the project is driven by an excel spreadsheet and tracking the overall progress is done in Project. So before I can link all the cells and have the inputs updated by several team members I want to understand some of MSP calculation methods. I would appreciate any additional help "JackD" wrote: |

Posted: 08 Jun 2004 01:53 PM PDT Thanks a lot, Sarah The split view that you suggest is indeed a great way to work and have the best overview of all parameters. I also like to add the Work column up in the Gantt part. I can see the logic applied by Project is indeed the way you describe. The "fixed work" is fixed also at resource level rather than only at task level (which is what I expected). "Sarah" <com> wrote in message news:google.com... | Jerry, | | When you're going to make changes like this to your schedule, I would | suggest that you split the screen and show the Resource Work view of | the Task Form on the bottom part, with the Gantt Chart on the top. | Select the task in the Gantt, then in the bottom you can adjust the | resources individually. Should be 2, shouldn't it? A bug? |
Formatting cells for word wrap Posted: 08 Jun 2004 01:35 PM PDT Hello Hall, You can do it for the whole project : select the whole project with a mouse click on the grey square at the top left of the project sheet. Then do the same way that you did for a single row : drag the bottom line downward with the mouse. Creating TBD dates with in MSP Posted: 08 Jun 2004 11:51 AM PDT Rob, Thanks for the note. But if you saw my original post the problem is that the plan is scheduled for 2 years and all tasks are identified but the LOEâs are not. So in the project plan I need to put a âTBDâ Thanks for any additional help. "AK" wrote: |

How to see all notes on screen at one time Posted: 07 Jun 2004 10:04 PM PDT Martin, The method Rod suggested will work fine as long as there are no line feeds in the Notes text or the total number of characters in the Notes field is 256 characters or less. If there are line feeds or more than 256 characters, you will need to either manually copy and paster, use an export map, or create a VBA macro to get the complete text of the Notes field to another application (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.). Compatibility between MS Project 2000 and 2003 Posted: 07 Jun 2004 04:06 PM PDT Haven't tested that, but haven't heard of any problems. The worst Project 2003 standard problem has been that on some PC's you've been unable to out some tasks. There is however a hotfix for that problem now if you encounter it. -- For VBA posts, please use the public.project.developer group. Posted: 04 Jun 2004 08:07 AM PDT IMHO, a project schedule is just that - a plan of what you are actually going to do. So how to handle the contingency scenario? Decide whether it is most likely that you'll need to restore one or more servers or not and build your plan based on that assumption, but with the understanding that you may have to modify it later if circumstnaces evolve differently. Same sort of idea as planning to drive from point A to point B via C but with an alternate route through D in mind if road construction forces a detour enroute. -- Steve House [MVP] MS Project Trainer/Consultant Visit http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm for the FAQs "Day Tripper" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:185fb01c44a45$99e77c20$gbl... |
