Selecting more than one resource when filtering? Posted: 21 Oct 2005 03:40 AM PDT Thanks for that! It worked! Cheers "Catfish Hunter" wrote: |
Posted: 20 Oct 2005 01:18 PM PDT RMs can "build the team" of resources for a project in PWA (Project Center). Rod's advice would be the best approach to assigning tasks in PWA. "Daniel Herdean" wrote: |
Requiring multiple resources to work on a task Posted: 20 Oct 2005 12:46 PM PDT It's possible, but why would you want to, you just exploded your number of tasks to track by a factor of 2 or 3 and made the effort of tracking the project that much more labor intensive. The planning tool should work for me, not the other way round. Larry |
Recurring tasks and resource usage Posted: 20 Oct 2005 11:26 AM PDT The problem was that I was using creating the recurring task in an administrative project. When I created it in a regular project, everything worked as expected. In our environment we have more projects than staff. The status meeting covers multiple projects. Seems to me that the administrative project would be a logical place to store this information, but I can work with it the way it is. Thanks, Brian "BrianG" wrote: |
Posted: 20 Oct 2005 08:13 AM PDT And finally if you really prefer an Icon, customize a Flag field to be =[Milestone] and give it the graphical indicator you want of the value is Yes. Best practice for on-going task Posted: 20 Oct 2005 06:42 AM PDT Thanks for your advice! We are using Project Server, so I will need to test this out. "dwolf" wrote: |

Is there just one UNDO with Project? Posted: 20 Oct 2005 06:01 AM PDT Simon Dullingham wrote: Project does not use Access as a database unless it is specifically made to do so. It uses a proprietary format (.mpp). I don't know if this is part of the problem preventing multiple undos. |
Odd effect of Project Start Date Posted: 20 Oct 2005 05:39 AM PDT Apologies for posting this thread - I've just found out from previous posts (now my PC is working again) that the Adjust Dates macro does something different (and additional to) changing the Project Start Date via Project/Project Information. Trying Schedule location or vacation for staff Posted: 19 Oct 2005 08:01 PM PDT I suggest making a "Summay" task for each person. Set all your resource calanders to 24 hours and let the task calander dictate when they can work or go on vacation. For your task you may need to set up some calanders. I would also use one of the text fields as a code field for each person. You can then filter to a specific person. Only one person at a time can be in a project with MS Projects. Primavera allows multiple users at once. The cost is the problem. "EnviorToxMan" wrote: |
Bringing in date from another project Posted: 19 Oct 2005 02:40 PM PDT In article <DOL5f.17491$cgocable.net>, "Greggy" <com> wrote: Greg, I think we still aren't communicating because all I can give is the simple answer. When a master is created, the standard method is to use Insert/Project. That effectively creates a dynamic master file which if fully "expanded", will show all tasks in each subproject that was inserted - no linking is necessary. Your initial post mentioned "master file". I assumed it was built as described above. Hope this helps. John Project MVP |
Hammock tasks start and finish dates are set inconsistantly Posted: 19 Oct 2005 02:01 PM PDT Thanks for the prompt response Chris, but the steps you articulated are exaCTLY what I had followed which resulted in the 2 different finish dates as indicated. However I was able to syncronize the finish dates by closing the plan and re-opening it, which refreshes the links so the dates are the same. Is there a way to Paste Special Link into multiple tasks? I want to show all of the detailed tasks that have to be done between the 2 milestones but don't want to go thru getting estimates and dependencies for each task and adjusting them every time a milestone date changes. Thanks!...M "Chris Marriott" wrote: |
Summary Tasks - Can Project Do This? Posted: 19 Oct 2005 10:46 AM PDT John wrote: Sounds like they're much the same. I misunderstood your description of bottom-up. I agree with all that you say above. Basically, once the achivements are set, how the project is done needs to be negotiated by all parties directly involved. |
Need help producing project plan as a list to display on a web pag Posted: 19 Oct 2005 10:43 AM PDT Thanks for your reply. However, I didn't receive a response in time yesterday so I inserted a text column and flagged those fields. Exported to Excel and then deleted them. Everything works alright for me now. A lot of extra steps and time consuming, but it's done. Thanks again. "JimS" wrote: |
