Internal error 2349 when installing Office

Posted: 21 Apr 2004 08:50 AM PDT

The error message I received was different in that it did
not include "Copy resumed with different info". Instead
it said "Contact product support". So perhaps it is not
the exact same problem.

I'd be willing to try Solution 329386 which instructs to
install with a CD-ROM drive. But, my Dell has a CD-RW
drive so I'm confused as to how I'd come up with a CD-ROM
drive.

I have the office disc but there is no product key >:(

Office 2000 sudden problem

Posted: 20 Apr 2004 08:57 AM PDT

Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried this and also all
the latest windows installer updates but still have the
same problem. I have my hard drive backed up from a little
while ago before this staretd and have tried restoring
almost all of it but that hasn't worked either. Does
anyone know where the damaged files are kept so that I can
look for those specifically on the backup?

Office2000 Product Key #

Posted: 19 Apr 2004 12:36 PM PDT

I went to that site and saw no phone numbers (not sure why
I need a phone number) nor did I see anything that would
help me with my situation. Is there ANYONE here that knows
how to access the product key # on my current hard-drine?
Thanks, Alan C>

Can I download Office 97 for Windows 98 off the web?

I'm afraid I don't actually have information on that-- sounds like you're
more in the loop on this issue than I am. :-)

Office 2003 went into a very limited function Mode

Posted: 19 Apr 2004 09:26 AM PDT

Thank you Milly Staples. Your suggestion worked. It was what I needed to get things working again.
The procedure did cause me some problems because some things would not let me delete. There is just a smal note in that document that you cannot have any parts of the program running in the background. Finding those was not very easy
Once I got the files and folders all removed. When I reintalled everything worked like it was suppose to with the proper screens to register
What just got me was that I pretty much new what the problem was from the start but I could not get one of Microsofts Gold OEM companies to believe what I was telling them and just being told "They had never seen a problem like this before". It took a lot of forceful talk to get them to realize the problem and to get them to own up to the problem once I found what the problem was and the solution you provided. I sure hope others have not had to spend the hours and frustration I have had to go through on such a small problem everyone in a service department should know about with with regards to what happens and how to correct a problem if something goes wrong with a License proceedure in Microsofts software.
Again Thank You for all your information and help. I hope to consider this problem closed.

Re-installing Office 2000 Pro

Posted: 18 Apr 2004 06:04 AM PDT

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I went to the address given below and
followed the instructions. The solution was so simple.
I am sorry I did not respond earlier. The solution was
to load the 2nd disk on a cd rom - NOT on a RW-rom. I
put the 2nd disk in the old rom drive. It booted
immediately, worked a few minutes, and said "DONE". My
publisher was back, my clipart, and most of all-my sanity.

Thanks again, so very much.

Hi Niteowl,

On the IE tab turn on
[x] Add new documents to Documents on Start menu
and see if that helps.

First time a new user logs on...

Posted: 16 Apr 2004 03:26 AM PDT

Oh P.S., in the second paragraph in my previous message.
If you make the user a PowerUser and put in the CD, when
you are finished, log back on as Admin and take away the
PowerUser status, and it still works. The install error
doesn't come up for that user anymore even tho' he/she is
no longer a PowerUser.
