Is it possible to block an OU or prevent the GAL query from reading from an
OU?

That would solve my problem..

Distribution lists with restricted access receiving unauthorized m

Posted: 04 Oct 2007 12:08 PM PDT

So if I understand this correctly, when I create a distribution list and
specify that only 3 people in my exchange organization and 3 people from the
company next door can send to the list, what it really means is that 3 people
in my exchange organization plus everybody in the world outside my
organization can send mail to that list - is that correct ?

Exchange 2003: The e-mail account does not exist at the organization" when sending to ONE INTERNAL user

Hi,

I dont think an address conflict in the GAL is likely. If you try and
add an email address in AD which already exists, you are prevented
from doing so for that very reason. Several users have reported
problems in sending to the problem user's mailbox and I feel it is a
little unlikely that they would all have problem contacts. Please not
that this is an occasional problem. The issue about "No transport
provider was available for delivery to this
recipient" is far more frequent (daily).

Im afraid I konw very little about the legacyExchangeDN attribute. How
do I find this out? I do not believe any of her email addresses have
changed in teh last few months.

Thanks,

C

local delivery delays in Exchange 2007

We use a combination of Symantic Corp Edition 10.1 and Symantec Av for MS
Exchange. We only have one mailbox information store and public store. I'm
new to 2007 so I am looking for queue monitoring tools...

I am not real suspicious of the AV system as simple one or two line text
messages can be delayed and they contain nothing the AV system should care
about. I hate to turn it off as I can't reproduce the problem on demand and
it would be hard to know if things are different for perhaps several days.

Multiple copy of the same email

I check the header of each two same email and the only difference in the
header is that:

header on email#1
X-OriginalArrivalTime: 03 Oct 2007 07:01:28.0226 (UTC)
FILETIME=[383E5020:01C8058B]

header on email#2
X-OriginalArrivalTime: 03 Oct 2007 14:31:33.0862 (UTC)
FILETIME=[18DB5860:01C805CA]

Your conclusion?

Exchange 2007 32bit evalution on windows 2008

Posted: 02 Oct 2007 07:09 AM PDT

PowerShell is included in Windows 2008; you need to install it manually:

ServerManagerCmd -i PowerShell

See also, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354.aspx for
details on installing the various Windows 2008 pre-reqs.

Hope this helps.

Exchange 2000 store size

Posted: 30 Sep 2007 04:25 PM PDT

I think I may have answered this m'self.

---from a related kb---
For example, a mailbox may appear to use only 250 MB of space in Exchange
System Manager, but the total space that the mailbox uses may be 450 MB.
This difference occurs because the 200 MB of space that the Priv.stm file
uses does not appear in Exchange System Manager.
---endquote---

I need them to clear out more. So the question changes. Is there a way to
identify who has significant content in the .stm? and which items they are?
I understand that the .stm is 'internet' rather than 'local' (basic).

Problem with using OWA and Sharepoint with NTLM authentication

Posted: 26 Sep 2007 10:15 PM PDT

Hi

I had this issue and i resolved by adding OWA into trusted zones (IE) and
changed the custom level on client for User Authentication to automatic logo
only in intranet zone (last custom)

There is nothing you can do at the server level (i maybe wrong)

Exch2k3 migration question

There are issues of message replyability, users' Contacts and Personal
Address Book entries, manager-delegate relationships, and more. If you're
small, you might find these issues to be manageable.

SSL CSR and OWA

Posted: 26 Sep 2007 01:50 PM PDT

You're on Exchange Server 2003 - are you using the same cert for TLS on
IMAP, POP3, SMTP?
- If OWA is the only thing you're using this for, and you don't want any
interruptions - try to create a new cert request using the Certificates
snap-in (with scope set to Local Computer when you add the snap-in to a MMC
console) first.
- If that doesn't work, and you need to remove the cert/binding
temporarily - it'll be for the time it takes you to create a new cert
request and then re-bind the existing cert to the OWA site.
- I would try this on a test box/VM first.

You can do an nslookup for the MX record(s) of the destination mail

Any errors in the event log?

So this is a single server network?

Hosting your own mail is fine. Hosting your public website on your Exchange
server (and a domain controller, yet!) is running with scissors, and the
fact that you're a small company is irrelevant.

In fact, small companies tend not to have as much money to invest in the
kind of hardware that might help them recover from an attack (a spare
server) or a good firewall. Seriously, outsource that - and llock down your
network. Just because you haven't gotten into a bad motorcycle accident yet
doesn't mean you shouldn't be wearing a helmet.

Since port 80 is one of the more frequently scanned for/targeted ports on
the internet, it's entirely possible that your hosting has something to do
with this.

Does an IISRESET fix the problem?

Can you test by blocking inbound traffic on 80 for a little while
to see if the problem recurs?

This is a reply :)

I'm afraid I won't be of much help with that. I don't use Exchange as
a spam filter or a connection control point. While I can see the
benefit of using a static (or even a dynamic) IP address block, the
use of an IP address to whitelist messages from /every/ check doesn't
appeal to me. I've /had/ to do that, but I don't think I've got more
than 20 such IP whitelistings. I don't mind whitelisting IPs from some
subset of the checks we use, but I'd much rather see the sender
correct the problem.
