Problem with multi-pagination in one doc Posted: 06 Jul 2014 12:50 PM PDT I am retyping our Homeowner's Association Governing Documents booklet. There is a cover page, index, and the CC&Rs text; then another cover page, index and the Bylaws text...all with different numbering formats (i, ii, A-1, A-2, C-1, C2 etc. I need to know how to insert multiple page numbers into one complete document. I'm not super "techie" so very descriptive answers would be appreciated. Thanks |

Microsoft Word 2013 BUG - titles in text boxes Posted: 06 Jul 2014 10:03 AM PDT Hello. I would like to report an issue I had while working on Word. I have a text box, and I want to put a default title type on it, due to lack of space. Later when I try to refresh the list of contents, the program crashes. Why is that? Thanks in advance. |
Formatting paragraphs in Word 2002 Posted: 06 Jul 2014 09:43 AM PDT I'm using Word 2002. (Just reluctantly upgraded from W97, and that's as far as I intend to go, tried 2010, waaaaay too bloated for my simple requirements.) Everything looks familiar, but there are a couple of quirks that I can't sort out. The Format Painter does nothing. The icon is there, it even reacts when clicked on, but that's it. And searching Help for 'Format Painter' brings up a list of wholly irrelevant topics, not a mention of the Painter. The format of a paragraph, i.e. first line indented, is not being passed on to the succeeding paragraph. Not a big deal, but an irritation. And lastly, for now, when W97 opened a document the cursor was always positioned where it had been when last saved. This isn't happening in W2002, although SHIFT+F5 does work. I seem to remember something about an AutoOpen macro, may have been in Word 6, certainly it isn't mentioned anywhere in Help. Any suggestions? Thanks. David |
Unable to open Word 2010 files after doing System Restore Posted: 06 Jul 2014 08:51 AM PDT Original Title: msxml6.0 Did a System Restore on my Toshiba laptop (with Windows 7 Ultimate). Now, cannot open files saved in Word 2010. Indication that I must install msxml6.0. How? Why?
"File Normal.dotm cannot be opened because of problems with file contents." "Word cannot open existing file (Normal.dotm)" "Changes made affect global template..." "File could not be found..." (Note that I had invoked System Restore.) 2. Is the issue specific to files from Word 2010? Yes. |
Posted: 06 Jul 2014 12:37 AM PDT In the last month Word 2010 has decided it will not display some of the pictures in older Word 2010 documents. Any idea why (system is Windows 8) |
Is this a Microsoft clip art image on this web page? Posted: 06 Jul 2014 12:31 AM PDT Hi, I came across an image online on a non-Microsoft webpage whose caption states "Microsoft clip art". I want to use this image in a book I am writing for sale. I understand MS clip art is royalty free but I am not certain whether this image is from the collection of MS clip art because I could not find this image while browsing through the clip art within MS word. Can someone please look at this webpage and verify if in fact it is a part of MS clip art?. The image is to the left about 1/3 the way down. It is an image of an "A+" circled and written with a red marker. If it is MS clip art then is it safe to assume that it is royalty free even though it is not part of the MS word clip art collection. IMPORTING 13,000 + ABBREVIATIONS *INTO* MS WORD 2003 AUTOCORRECT AND/OR AUTOTEXT Posted: 06 Jul 2014 12:00 AM PDT hi, i am having just an awful time trying to find a way i can take my precious 13,000 abbreviations and somehow put them into MS Word's Autocorrect and/or Autotext. Mind you, I want to STICK the abbreviations INTO Autocorrect, NOTprint out the existing Autocorrect entries into some sort of a list. I am at wit's end. Could someone help? I know this entails putting the abbreviation list into a csv excel file or something and this is fine, but if you could explain the steps explicitly, i would be most appreciative. THANKS Brain Science. PS - I heard that after 7000 entries Autocorrect doesn't always work well but I am willing to take the chance. God bless you for your kind assistance. |

Strange - I am the sole user account and I have Administrator Privileges. What can I do? |
Word readability statistics do not appear after a grammar and spell check Posted: 05 Jul 2014 07:39 PM PDT When I perform a spelling and grammar check in Word 2013, the readability statistics do not appear. The settings are correct, per the instructions in Word help. I have tested this on several documents, and cannot make it work at all. |
Word. How the morons at Microsoft make it worse with each release Posted: 05 Jul 2014 03:50 PM PDT Back in my college days, I loved Microsoft word. When I went into business, my office used Wordperfect, because the software we used would integrate with Wordperfect. I was recently forced to go back to Word, because Wordperfect wasn't compatible with our NEW office management software. Now that Word 2013 has been loaded onto the computers in my office, I am shocked at how Microsoft has turned a user-friendly program, into a complete pieced of ****. Aside from being frustrated myself, I am really tired of hearing my employees complaint that: (a) the program moves words, sentences, paragraphs etc, that they do not want moved, (b) the program does things they don't want, and can't stop it from doing, and (c) it puts something in a document that they can't remove. What kind of morons are running Microsoft these days? I just can't understand it. On Friday, my office manager came to me telling me she received a document which had a light tan colored comment box running down the right side of the document, and she could not eliminate the comment box. I tried and couldn't figure it out either. Finally, I had to go on the internet to find a forum where others were complaining about the same thing, and someone there told me how to fix it. Really Microsoft? Was this part of the program created by the same imbecile who thought hiding the power-off function and calling it a "charm" was intelligent? How about this, why couldn't you just have the cute little "x" box on the upper right corner, to close the comment box. Just as we've been able to close windows boxes for years. How about the .8 "space" it now adds after each line, irrespective of whether you manually choose your sentence spacing to be single-space or otherwise. Really? what jerk came up with that one. I am amazed. It is as if the idiots at Microsoft are actually trying to make the program more difficult to use. At this point I have lost all hope for Microsoft. I just hope Corel makes a comeback. If my office management software would word with Wordperfect, I'd switch in a heartbeat. |
