License problem

Posted: 14 Mar 2005 08:47 AM PST

Have you tried the user that ws used to originally install the application?
That user is gratned a special license that you can't remove though normal
means. It should still have access to the system.

Question about MS CRM Exchange E-mail Router?

If you uninstall the router from the Exchange server, then you won't have any
problems.

Mass email to contacts

Posted: 14 Mar 2005 07:17 AM PST

Another possibility is our
WordMailMerge for MSCRM Add-On

We have added the possibility for a multi-entity search for contacts!
So you can search for contacts with criterias from account and contact!
And then make a mailmerge with this contacts! It is the same procedure
for making a newsletter out of MS WORD as you make a Letter-MailMerge!

You can download a trial-version on www.mscrm-addons.com

CRM Mobile database log files growth

Posted: 13 Mar 2005 09:21 PM PST

John, this client has only 1 CRM Mobile user at this stage and yet the
MSCRMMobileSubscription.mdf file is approx. 350MB. This mobile device would
be storing around 1,000 Accounts along with 2,000 contacts, some activities
and notes. This seems to be very large amount of space for these records.
They require 20 mobile users so I am a bit worried about the size of this
database.

SFO sync - Limit attachments option doesn't!

And you're probably hitting the nail on the head.

As for the sync times - try 21 hours for the first sync! (according to
the users)

I've forwarded this info onto colleagues who are slightly more aux fait
than myself.

How to change the definition of fields?

Posted: 12 Mar 2005 09:07 PM PST

Hi,

you can do this by:

- stop replication (with SQL Server Enterprise Manager)
- remove the attribute if it is already in a form, deploy the change (with
Deployment Manager), iisreset
- change the column size (number of characters) in the "SalesOrderBase"
table of the MSCRM database
- change the size (number of characters * 2) in the column "Length" of the
table "Attribute" of the METABASE database for the appropriate attribute
- deploy the changes (with Deployment Manager), after a restart of the
Deployment Manager, the new size should be in the properties of the
attribute; iisreset
- add the attribute to the form (the new size should be visible on the
schema tab), deploy the change, iisreset
- start replication (with Deployment Manager -> Server Manager; also
described in the documentation of the redeployment tool)

As for many other things doing (aka messing around :) with CRM, this is
unsupported by Microsoft!

I have not seen anything that wouldindicate anything to help with project
oriented tasks like this in the CRM 2005 release.

wonder if this is caused by timeout issues as you are running heavyweight
apps such as exchange etc on this box as well.

does a responses per hour by CSR report exist?

Posted: 10 Mar 2005 12:51 PM PST

It is produced by an ISV called Visionary Software - it is listed on the ISV
Vendors list that Microsoft maintained, so they have passed the certification
test. The website on the card they gave out is www.vscrm.com.

And yes , there is a download if you use AWC. And the cost is mostly per
seat based - details on the site.

Good Luck!

Sales Order Customization

Posted: 10 Mar 2005 05:02 AM PST

Hi Ruf,

Thanks a lot for the post.

1. You might want to post this question in the Dev Newsgroup as they have
more experience with this.

2. You cannot remove mandatory fields in most cases. This is because some
of these fields are used to make calculations behind the scenes, so to
remove these would cause an error later.

3. Here is an article that explains how to add graphics to an email
template. I hope that this helps you out.

The following requirements must be met to include a graphic in a template:•
Microsoft CRM e-mail templates are Hypertext Markup Language-based and
browser-based. The graphic must be created in a standard file format so
that a standard Web browser can display the graphic.
• Graphics are not embedded or attached. A link that points to the actual
location of the graphic is put in the file.
• The graphic must be located on a Web site that the e-mail recipient can
access. For example, the graphic file cannot be located on a local file
system.
To add a graphic to an e-mail template: 1. On the Microsoft CRM home page,
click Settings, click Template Manager, and then click E-mail Templates.
2. On the Actions bar, click New E-mail Template.
3. Select a template type, and then click OK.
4. Complete the details of the e-mail template.
5. Use Microsoft Internet Explorer to open the Web page or the Web site
folder that contains the graphic. Typically, all graphics for a Web site
are located in one folder. Links to the graphics in this folder are then
put in the Web files.
6. Copy the graphic, and then paste the graphic into the e-mail template.
Although the graphic appears, only the link to the graphic has been put in
the e-mail template.
7. Save the e-mail template, and then test it by sending an e-mail message
that uses the e-mail template.
