Can I install Office XP Standard for Students on two computers?

Office XP for Students and Teachers is licensed for installation
on only one computer. This is stated in your End User License
Agreement and at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/previous/xp/faq.asp .

Product Key/ Activation Help

Microsoft as always claimed that if you lose your key.
The would issue a new one.

If he registered is copy with Microsoft, he should be able to get a
new key. Otherwise, he may have to fax or mail in the copy of the
cd.

This is assuming it a retail version. If it an oem with the same
computer-he needs to contact the company he bought it from. if out if
business microsoft will usually help.

Just be cause some lost the key. He should not have to buy another
program.

How do I activate my spanish speller in word???

Posted: 07 Nov 2005 10:05 AM PST

Hi Claudiogat,

If you're using an English language edition of MS Office it
comes with English, French and Spanish proofing tools, but
only English is installed by default.

From Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel choose
the Microsoft Office/Word choice and change the feature set
to have the Spanish proofing (spell & grammar) set to
'run from my computer'.

Once the proofing tools are installed be sure that the
selected text you wish to check has been set to Spanish
from Tools=>Language in Word.

I loked in I have the proofing tools, added spanish in any place I could, and
my Office 2003 Pro is original like all other programs in my laptop, and
still don't se the speller option under all spanish options. As well I
reinstalled Office after uninstall.

Thank you for your time. >>

time and date error

Posted: 07 Nov 2005 07:40 AM PST

Perhaps this the time to change the small backup battery/cell. How old
is your laptop?

Normally, you don't get a message if your system date/time is incorrect
(how does a machine know correct time?) unless you are online and trying
to syncronize the system with internet time server.

You need to scan your system to see if you have any time critical
malware trying to communicate with outside world!!

Office 2000 - install errors and all updates ?

Hi JCH,

Thanks for your help. I notice from
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/CD010225771033.aspx ,
there are service 'packs' and a 'service release'. Only 1 release, the
SR-1a as you mentioned, and then I assume the service pack SP-3,
includes at least SP-2.

Thanks,

Peter

"Missing" CAB file ?

Posted: 05 Nov 2005 10:43 AM PST

I have searched both the Office CD as well as the XP Pro CD--not there. Have
also searched the Microsoft web site for any info on this file--nothing there
either. Contacted Dell (since it is a new computer) and they said it was a
Microsoft problem. Since I have an MSN account, I contacted them about the
problem--they told me it was an Outlook problem and I should check there.
Nothing at the Outlook web site.

This file is not on my computer or on the install disks. Now that I found I
could not run Excel at all (attemping to reinstall Excel fails due to lack of
this CAB file), I do not know what else to explore.

Any assistance most welcome--thanks in advance.

What type of file is best to import and export Outlook Contacts?

Posted: 04 Nov 2005 09:15 AM PST

Do NOT import a native Outlook file. SImply open it using Outlook's
File->Open->Outlook Data File. Then drag and drop the contents from your
saved .pst file to your current .pst file. Right click on the saved file
and select Close.

Upgrading to 2003 from 97 on new machine

Which means you better KEEP THE OLD VERSION or you won't be able to
re-install (if needed) at a later time.

How correct Office Pr2003 install error 1402, prevent rollback?

Posted: 03 Nov 2005 01:49 PM PST

Thanks! You are right about the relevance of office 2000. Since I am
upgrading to 2003 from it, I get to have the same problems as if that were
what I was installoing it I don't haveregscan because I use XP. And I am the
sole user-administrator.

Meanwhile, this ended up causing me tyo do a full system restore, and the
partitiond were gone so it wiped both C and D. I haven't gotten back to the
level where I'm installing Office yet. I think I'll try to take advantage of
the fact that Office 2000 is gone and go straight to 2003, if it will let me.
I think maybe I can prove my eligability by inserting the Office 2000 CD when
asked, instead of actually installing it to upgrade it.

If not, the best advice I've found is to reset the permissions in regedit
(rather than mess with Keys), so I'll try that.

Activating Office XP for Standard for Students and Teachers??

Posted: 03 Nov 2005 09:41 AM PST

The OP clearly states, "I previously had this set up on my
laptop and my desktop so this will be the third computer I'm
attempting to install this program on (Although I won't need it
on my "old" desktop once I install it on my "new" desktop)." If
you don't count the old desktop, then the OP will have the
software installed on one laptop and one new desktop, which is
twice as many computers as the EULA allows. Your suggestion was
to, "Explain to them that you have discarded the old
desktop and that you will only use this new one", which to me is
encouraging the OP to lie to Microsoft about not having the
software also installed on a laptop.

Thanks for the response. I looked for the TravelPaper.doc on Microsoft's web
site but it is unavailable. I will continue to search for topic in the Help
section and in the knowlege base. You have pointed me in the right
direction though. Thanks again.
