Excel 2003 error message when opening ebedded Word 2003 doc Posted: 26 Sep 2005 03:33 AM PDT no problem. As a perminent fix i would suggest you get the document digitally signed that way you can leave the security at an elevated level. I think there is a program which signs documents and thats on the office resource kit site failing that tell the silly user that created the spread sheet not to embed documents within. Re-installing, re-registering Office XP? Posted: 22 Sep 2005 09:33 AM PDT If you own a legal license for Office, you may install it on your system, even if your system changes, as long as it's your system and you abide by the number of licenses you have purchased. If your system changes, then you re-install it, the activation via the Internet may fail. If it does, then use the telephone activation method and explain the hardware change to the operator. They can get the product activated for you over the telephone. Posted: 22 Sep 2005 07:01 AM PDT Well...not exactly <grin>. What Microsoft has said is that the Add/Remove Programs removes the most of the Office information that they are comfortable removing without messing up people's systems. They claim it's very clean--which is why they didn't create a removal utilitiy--but I don't know what all remains after that. After that, there's a Windows Installer Cleanup utility that you can run that will remove entries in the registry related to installation of Office, but it won't remove other registry entries that Office created and didn't uninstall. I have not yet seen a comprehensive article or posting about manually removing it, either, so if it's worth it to you, you might give Microsoft Support a call. In most cases, whatever's left is not likely to cause any problems with ongoing system operation. -- Susan Ramlet MVP - Office Please reply to the newsgroups where others may benefit. Office 2000 Install on Used Computer Posted: 20 Sep 2005 10:42 AM PDT Only if the buyer agreed to a EULA. HOWEVER, the Office EULA states that it must be installed on an operating system that the user is licensed for. So, while purchasing the computer is perfectly legal, and it's legal for me to use it without any licenses for the software isntalled, it is illegal for me to install any other Microsoft software on this WinXP machine.
