Microsoft CRM - Small Business Server 2003

Small Business Server 2003

Thanks for the answer, Peter
We already have the SQL Server license. Actually, I do not want to pay the additional cost of a SQL Server in the Premimum Edition.

There isn't a supported way to remove the buttons (toolbar button, icon on
top right of CRM page and/or CRM menu item) but you could prevent people
from going offline by removing replication permissions on the SQL server
(sorry, don't have details on how to do that - look at SQL documentation).
Users would probably get some sort of nasty error, but it would prevent them
going offline.

Microsoft CRM in two domains in same forest?

Posted: 16 Jul 2004 04:13 AM PDT

The need for a separate exchange server is definitely
correct. The Email router can only handle one deployment
at a time. So you are looking at a two exchange server
deployment to accomodate a two MSCRM system deployment.

The best way to accomplish that would be to install the test version in some
type of virtual machine (ie. Virtual PC or VMware). Otherwise you can't
install v.1.2 on a single box with two different implementaions. May be
available in version 2.0.

Thanks very much to both of you.

It sounds like the Frying Pan or the Fire!

Do you get any negative feedback from people recieving these messages?

It would be a good idea to go to your SQL Manager. Go to
the machine that is holding your MSCRM Database and look
for a database that has a "_Distribution" on it. Might
be u dont have this database created. This database
holds all replication to the MSCRM Database and is the
middle man for the syncing processes for all SFO Client
machines.

Data Migration problem.

Posted: 15 Jul 2004 01:29 PM PDT

Hi again,

I did the initialization first and then I used MS
access to append a record to the cdf_account table. I
followed the steps on the DMF doc but it is still not
working.

I kept the data to a minimum. These are the only
fields that I populated and I only added 1 record.
AccountID=5
Name = "test Company"
StatusCode = 1
StateCode = 0
IsPrivate = 0
OwningUser = 4

I've tried to put in OwningUserName instead of
OwningUser and then used the mappinguser stored
procedure. I think I did it right because It was able to
put in the correct owningUser after the mapped the
owningusername.
I also stop the web application to make sure nobody
was on it while I was doing the migration.
Do you know where I can get lookup error codes? the
error I got was not in the least descriptive. It can be
anything. if only I can get a more descriptive version of
the error, then I can start looking in the right
direction.
Again, this is a plea for help. We have to get this
system up and running ASAP. Any help is appreciated. Help
Please.....

Installation Problems -- Unknown Error

Posted: 15 Jul 2004 07:02 AM PDT

I had to force replication. My SQL server happened to be using one
domain controller and the CRM server another. So it would add the OU
and SQLAccessGroup group to one DC and it would need to be on the
other right away for the SQL server. If I didn't do that, it would
error while going through the SQL scripts part of setup.

The user I logged in as is a domain admin and a local admin on the
box. The user is a system admin on the SQL server, too.

I'm going to format the server this weekend and try again. I'll let
you know how that goes.

The structure of my domain is very simple. I have two domain
controllers, all in the same physical location -- same subnet even --
very simple...
