Empty pages in printing ??

Posted: 02 Dec 2004 02:07 PM PST

Mike,

I changed the days in the timescale to from 7 days to 1 day thereby
increasing the width of my gantt chart and when I did a Print Preview it
somehow decided that it would not print my blank pages but just the schedule
itself. Go figure?

My timescale is 3 tiered with Years, Months and now single days.

Not sure what happened but I'm getting what I need so I guess all is well.

How do I track impact of tasks that create resource for other tas

Posted: 02 Dec 2004 12:35 PM PST

Actually it could be automated, but I'm not sure it is worth automating it.
I say this because you will have to work out the precise algorithm which
relates the two and then convert this into code. Considering that adjusting
manually is not very difficult, and the outcome of the training class being
delayed or not teaching as many trainers would be very difficult to
quantify, and finally it would not be much more accurate than simply using a
finish to start constraint of some kind, I'd just skip it.

Why does leveling impact resource time that is already allocated?

Hi Joe,
What would you recommend then? I need to ensure our resources are not
overallocated and MS Project provides this for us.

Hello Nate, Hello Jan,

Have you tried a grouping on the Task Usage view :
Project / Group by...
- Group by : Outline Number
- Then by : Resource Name
Check the Group Assignments, not tasks check box

Tell us if that's what you want.

How can I put a task in Project without a date?

Perhaps all you really need is a simple excel spreadsheet. Sounds like all
you really need/want is a to-do list.

Using recurring tasks, Project Pro 2003 crashes

Posted: 01 Dec 2004 09:29 AM PST

Well, I allocated resources to the summary tasks and not the individual
recurring tasks. That solves the lag problem (btw, file size stays pretty
much the same). So, Project can handle files that size. However, whenever
resources are assigned to recurring tasks that have a long duration, my
computer crashes. I've had some team members raise this issue to me today
too. Again, thanks Mike and Jerry for responding to this post!

Jack,
Actually I wasn't aware of the 255 limit in spare text fields but I'm
not surprised. That's why I "supposed" using spare text fields was a
method. Obviously it's not a very viable method.

Cost of a project

Posted: 01 Dec 2004 06:19 AM PST

That would be a classic example of a fixed cost except the requirement that
it change if the duration changes. The fixed cost field is designed to
capture costs that are associated with a task or summary that are neither
labour costs nor material costs.
