Visual Impaired Accessiblity

Posted: 08 Mar 2005 12:11 PM PST

Hi Anauna,

There is an Accessibility applet in the Windows Control
Panel in addition to the settings for the Windows Desktop.
Decreasing the 'screen resolution' from, for example 1024
to 600x800 will make things 'appear' larger.

In Word, the reviewing baloon text size is controlled
by a style 'Balloon text' in addition to using the
View=>Zoom feature.

Many dialog boxes are controlled by the settings for
the Windows desktop properties, as far as font size.

Can I uninstall student/teacher 2003 then install on another comp.

Posted: 08 Mar 2005 06:51 AM PST

Hi, klc330/spchtch04,

One computer = one license. You can install it on the same computer as many
times as you like.

You can remove it from one and install it on a different one, and that's one
license.

If you have trouble with the internet activation process because of the
perceived hardware changes, then choose the telephone method of activation
during the activation wizard, and explain the situation to the operator.
They can help you get it activated.

As long as it's only installed on three computers, it doesn't matter which,
or how many times.

Hi,

I'm running Office 2003 on XP Pro. I've tried the International Support fix
and will see how that goes.

Thanks for the tips.

office 2000 full deployment

I think I've figured this out. When adding the MSI to AD, you also add
the .mst in the Modifications tab.

I wonder how that affects upgrades to the msi's, would the MST propagate
through, or would the new msi override (and you'd have to add the MST to
the upgrade MSI definition as well).

Anyway, Susan - thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

TerryM,
As an added suggestion, you can reinstall Photo Editor from your previous
version since you mentioned upgrade. Refer here:

If you only buy a license, then no, you won't get a cd. If you'd buy the
full package, then you'd get a cd. If you just normally order an Office
suite, then you'll get cds but you have to wait until the package arrives.

Office 2003 Standard upgrade nukes Access 2000

Posted: 03 Mar 2005 08:34 PM PST

Hi J.T.,

Probably good in this case to continue to work
through the MS Product support case assignment.

Trying to mix and match Office elements,
('per user' installs aren't recommended unless GPO is being used) as
these generally end up with some sort of upgrade problem when the upgrade
installation is 'per machine'.

Rinstalling Access 2000 in a 'per machine' scenario
afterwards is likely going to be the one to go with
although that 'out of sequence' install may require
a repair reinstall/recache of Office 2003.

<<"JT" <ca> wrote in message news:431301c52073$6571c590$gbl...
We have Access 2000 installed on a per user basis on
several hundred PCs, along with Office 2000 Standard
(which is installed on a per computer basis).

The problem: When we upgrade to Office 2003 Standard
(using group policy, on a per computer basis), it
uninstalls Access 2000.

We've had Microsoft working on this problem for a couple
of weeks, to no avail. They say the problem is based in
the "reference count" for shared DLLs related to Access
2000. Apparently Office 2003 does some clean up based on
these reference counts (e.g. if count = 0, delete the
file).

The question: Does anyone have a solution? We'd really
like our Office 2003 Standard upgrade to skip this clean
up. MS says the OPC files can't be configured to skip
this.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Oh yes, we aren't using
SMS or Zenworks.

Updated from 2002 to 2003 but now I have both!

Posted: 03 Mar 2005 12:35 AM PST

Hi, Chris,

What I mean is that it appears (without actually being able to look at your
system) that you have two versions of Office installed, because the Office
2003 upgrade didn't quite remove all of Office XP. If there is still Office
XP in your Add/Remove Programs, uninstall it from there.

Have you tried re-installing Office 2003 to see if it can repair itself?
That might be a good idea, also.

Deleting the Office10 folder isn't usually the best idea, since there's more
to an installation than just the files in Office10. There are registry
entries that are made and other files added to the windows directory. The
Add/Remove Programs uninstall is the best place to ensure that the most of
the application is removed.

I hope that makes more sense--and yes--uninstalling and re-installing are
good things to try, in general. Sometimes Office is able to fix itself.

Why can't I install Office 2000 Premium on Windows XP?

Posted: 02 Mar 2005 12:11 PM PST

Sorry about not giving the complete error messages, well when I try to
install Office 2000, it gives me an error msg containing MSIEXEC.EXE 7355
error. Now I am running windows XP Home and viewing the event viewer I get
this:
A provider, OffProv, has been registered in the WMI namespace, Root\MSAPPS,
but did not specify the HostingModel property. This provider will be run
using the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged and the provider
may cause a security violation if it does not correctly impersonate user
requests. Ensure that provider has been reviewed for security behavior and
update the HostingModel property of the provider registration to an account
with the least privileges possible for the required functionality.
I have narrowed it down to the fact that it's trying to install under a non
administrative account, with windows xp home, the steps to follow to bring up
the security tab are not there. Is there such a way to bring up the security
tab to change the priviledges on the c:\windows\installer directory? Thank
you very much for your time in helping with this matter.

Yes, definitely keep the CD in a safe place. Also keep the purchased
product key with the CD. You might need one or both someday to install
Office updates or to repair or reinstall Office.

How to install Office 97 Professional on a Windows 98 OS?

Sounds like you installed Office to "Run from CD" instead of "Run from
Computer". If this is the case, then you can either uninstall and
reinstall, or modify your existing installation to make it run from your
computer.
