Workgroup Messaging

Thanks again Julie! I really appreciate the input

When I looked at the message handler download site it reports that it will
work with any version of Outlook after 97 so hopefully it will. Hopefully my
client just failed to install the 2003 version of the handler.

I agree using Notes as the mail client is very trying :-) But, I have
been able to make it work (only if you install Project and MAPI before Notes
is installed)

Performing tasks seqentially

Posted: 26 Aug 2004 09:31 PM PDT

Hi Andrew,

When Project does its levelling, it ONLY DELAYS tasks until the resource
becomes available - nothing more. So, if you see a Duration of 21 days, it
is because tasks have been delayed in favour of other tasks. Remember that
the Duration of the Summary Task is the working time between the start of
the first task to the end of the last task. If you examine the Gantt Chart,
you will see gaps in this group of tasks where a task from another group has
been "given" the resource.

I thoroughly recommend you take a short introductory course on Project to
get you up and running quickly. No project management software is easy to
pick up - the more so if you're not familiar with the project management
techniques on which it is based.

In the meantime, you might like to have a look at my series on Microsoft
Project in the TechTrax ezine, particularly # , at this site:

site, :) Thanks.)

PRJ98: Not Enough Memory Error when saving Project.

Carlo,

It doesn't matter if you use Windows 98, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
Use whatever you have or whatever works on your computer. (Windows XP
may not work on the older machines ... check before upgrading.)

Re installation of Project ... well, if you don't have the right disks
to do a reinstall it will be impossible to re-install. I can't think of
a way around it. Your options are to find the right disks, or buy a new
copy of Project. You could get Project 98 used from various sources
(eBay?) or buy a newer version.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

BOOK or link

In addition to Julie's recommendation I've used Microsoft Project
Step-by-Step as a text for my classes and find it very good for learning
from the ground up. I'd also suggest getting a copy of the guide to the
PMBOK, Project Management Body of Knwledge, published by the Project
Managemtn Institute. It doesn't teach anything about MS Project but it is a
comprehensive guide to the discipline of PM that is the basis for the way
Project functions.

Getting MS-Project's HWnd from add-in

Posted: 25 Aug 2004 05:55 PM PDT

Heh. A perfect example of NOT using what's available and thus working harder
than necessary.
Just do:
prjApplication.ScreenUpdating := False;
(see ScreenUpdating on MSDN) where prjApplication is of type _MSProject
(that's your root variable for anything Project-related, e.g.
prjApplication.ActiveProject.whatever etc., might be called a bit
differently depending on your development tool -- that's what Project VBA
calls Application, but Delphi has its own Application variable so I
renamed). Anyhow don't forget to set ScreenUpdating back to True eventually
;)

Regarding the toolbar button, I once had some crazy person simulating
pressing a button via WinAPI command (he had good reasons, long story), so
in such a case Project won't have the focus. I'm beginning to think I'd just
have to settle for FindWindow plus creating a mechanism for the user to
manually select the Project window in case something goes wrong :(

Also, Project does have Windows and Windows2 properties, but no HWnd
anywhere that I can find.

Can you reorganize structure in Microsoft Project?

Thank you very much. I in fact did that yesterday and discovered that
functionality. Sorry that my illustration was a bit sketchy. It
looked fine when I sent it, then it presented itself out of the
original format for your viewing. Thanks again for the help.
