I would go to the Programs area of Control Panel, open the Office XP "Add or

Doent Imaging" under the Office Tools tree to Not Available. That should
restore file associations as well.

Oh and why does a (saved) Word doent take so long to open?
Opening up Word it self is quick, but when I create a doent, then open it
later it takes 30 seconds or so to open.

Thx.

I have not tested using such a tool, with a drive with more than

in order to enable all those splufty cool nVidia features but avoid
publishing the actual specifications. I personally consider this rude
as heck, and unstable, but you've got the hardware you've got.

Also, while your particular monitor may not be listed in the
configuration tools, it should be possible to look up from your
manufacturer core characteristics to set up a "custom" monitor
configuration. These include:

Vertical. (known as refresh rate typically 60 Hz for an LCD monitor,
more like 50-70 for CRT's.)
Horizontal (known as scan rate, depends a lot on the monitor)
Maximum resolution (depends on physical monitor)

You should be able to manually enter those. If your video card is not
correctly detected, or too limited, it won't be able to use the
highest settings for the monitor, but most nVidia integrated chipsets
should do reasonable 1200x1024, minimum. What driver is listed in /etc/
X11/xorg.conf for the video controller?

definately doable and should not be a huge amount of work.

it is possible to add an interface into crm that accesses data in an
external database. Alternatively you could also potentially host the data
inside of crm.

in fact with v3 this becomes a real possiblity due to the ability to add
entities.

How exactly are you rying to load the _Ext tables? By default, these
records are created by triggers on the main table. These record should then
either be deleted and then recreated by your own procedure or they should be
updated in place with appropriate values. The key is for the ID on the 2
tables to be the same.

How Do You Highlight or Find Specific Cross-reference For Endnotes in the Document?

Doing a change from ARP for Office won't do much - it will offer you a viiew

I generally trust Microsoft product installations - from my experience
they're fine - but you're right, setups often don't get the attention they

Leveling and contouring are two completely different things. In your
initial post you mentioned something about a resource starting at x%,

either a "Bell" or "Turtle" shaped assignment profile. Contours can also
be custom generated by directly massaging the Work field in one of the
Usage views.

Leveling on the other hand is a Project function wherein Project
attempts to move the schedule around to eliminate overallocated
resources. Tasks can be given a priority level to help the leveling
algorithm know which tasks should not be moved and which can be moved.
Leveling can be done on various timescales (e.g. day-to-day,
week-to-week, etc.). The message you saw relates to Project detecting
overallocation of a resource and therefore suggests that that resource
should be leveled
It sounds like you are confusing contour profiles with leveling. See the

Jack,
Thanks for your reply. I wish this was the case, that I had the wrong
format, unfortunately I think I do. The dates work fine for the beginning of
the timescale and then changes as you look to the end of the timescale. In
addition, the timescale is correct until you print it out. That is to say,
what you read on the screen is changed when you print it out.

How To Track Estimated Time but Create A Window Of Time to Do It

Posted: 13 Mar 2006 12:19 PM PST

There are several ways one could handle your scenario. Duration, first of
all, is the time that elapses between when work is first done on the task
and when it is complete. It is NOT the "window" in which you might do the
task. Duration is always a period of observable physical activity. In the
case of your phone call, whenever you make that call you're not going to be
doing anything else at the same time and you're not going to keep the other
party on the phone for 2 days. You're going to make the call, talk for 30
minutes, and then you're done. That's a 30 minute duration task with you
working on it 100%, doing .5 man-hours of work. If you have in hand all the
information you need to carry out the conversation on Monday morning you
could make the call as early as Monday 8am. You need to have done it
sometime before the end of the day on Tuesday. My preferred way of handling
that would be to show the call as a 30 minute duration task, perhaps with a
Start No Earlier Than contraint of Monday 8am, and a finish Deadline of
Tuesday 5pm. The only time I'd show it as a 2 day duration task would be if
I intended to have it done in little bits and pieces spread out over the two
days with the first little piece starting Monday at 8am and the last bit
finishing Tuesday at 5pm. If the nature of the work was such that you could
spread it out over two days, it started on Monday at 8am and you finished it
Tuesday at 5pm, doing it so the work actually did spread out over the two
days, it would be a 2 day duration (16 hours) task with 0.5 hours of work
and you would be working on it at a rate of little over 3%.

Multiple resources on task need to be scheduled the same time

Posted: 13 Mar 2006 11:38 AM PST

Hi,

First, do use leveling, it is nonsence to use a software and not use part of
it.
Leveling has an option (see below in the leveling window) "Leveling can
adjust individual assignments on a task": check that off.
The parameter also exists on task level: insert the column "Level
Assignments"

Sometime anomolies in start and end dates when moving files between
computers can be traced to the hours per day settings on the Tools Options
menu, Calendar page.

Time scaled Baseline does not roll up

Posted: 13 Mar 2006 11:00 AM PST

I'm using the latest version, Project Pro 2003 SP1 (11.1.2004.1707.15).

This is isolated to just one project, other projects are copying the project
summary task time scaled data appropriately to the Baseline time scaled data.

For Rick, when I refer to time scaled data, I am referring to the right side
of a Usage view. When I am referreing to table data, I am referring to the
left side. The table view is reporting baseline correctely the time scaled
view is not but only incorrectly at the project summary task. All other
summary tasks are copied appropriately.

If you want the result, better consider the solution :-))

It's a good idea to have to option set to automatically recalculate rather
than relying on F9 in the future.

Also, through Format, Timescale, you can show D1.... D50 as a timescale
label.

Roll-up tasks by person?

Ali,
I've never used the rollup macro but a quick look at the code shows it
basically identifies rolled up tasks at the summary level (i.e. creates
what I mentioned in the original response). Not what you want.

And yes, from time to time in the newsgroup users have requested various
ways to show multiple things on a single line. Most of them relate to
showing more detail at the summary level, similar to the rollup macro.
For your specific need, it must be done outside of Project.

It's been a long time since I worked with critical path in a
consolidated master (way back to Project 4.x) but there is [generally]
always a reason for Project showing what it does. I agree it would be
much better to actually see your file and play with it a bit. I would be
willing to do that if you don't mind sending it via e-mail although I
may not be able to look at it for a several hours. If you want to send
it, here is my address.

If you decide to send it, please detail the area of question.

Updating hammock tasks

Posted: 13 Mar 2006 07:07 AM PST

No, Dale - you said the hammock runs for the duration of the project. The
project summary task would seem to do exactly what you wanted. If you must
have another hammock, you will have to enter Actual data like %Complete as I
don't see how Project can determine this. It would seem to be possible to
use vba to achieve this result: try the developer newsgroup if you want to
do down this route.
