Posted: 11 Nov 2005 12:20 PM PST To be honest, I would probalby sit tiht at this point and wait for v3.0. As John said, it will allow you add new entities, so it is possible that you can just roll the functionality into the app natively. -- Matt Parks MVP - Microsoft CRM "John O'Donnell" <com-nospam> wrote in message news:phx.gbl... its hard to say without a lot more details but what you are asking is definately doable and should not be a huge amount of work. it is possible to add an interface into crm that accesses data in an external database. Alternatively you could also potentially host the data inside of crm. in fact with v3 this becomes a real possiblity due to the ability to add entities. Posted: 11 Nov 2005 06:54 AM PST ok if your upgrading to CRM v3 forget crystal as you know CRM 3.0 has moved to SQL Reporting Services. As your moving to CRM 3.0 you need to invest your time getting up to speed on SRS with CRM "Andrew Hussey" <com> wrote in message news:phx.gbl... |
Unable to see updated values in CRM Posted: 11 Nov 2005 06:46 AM PST Thank you John, that answers my question. I'm now getting the dreaded snap-in errors that people seem to get when running the tool. It seems like I'm going to have to give the user who did the CRM install a license from another user since we are using them all so I can run the tool. That is unless someone knows how to use the deployment manager without using the installer login. My login should have full rights on the domain, SQL server database file and also has the admin role in CRM. |
Posted: 10 Nov 2005 05:26 PM PST Yes. The SFO client allows you to access CRM from within Outlook. It can also enable the linking of Contacts between CRM & Outlook. -- Matt Parks MVP - Microsoft CRM "CONTROL Guru" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... No. If I do that will it interface the two applications? -- Thank you!! "Niths" wrote: and CRM? |
Data Migration w/DTS - EXT Files - What settings Posted: 10 Nov 2005 03:05 PM PST How exactly are you rying to load the _Ext tables? By default, these records are created by triggers on the main table. These record should then either be deleted and then recreated by your own procedure or they should be updated in place with appropriate values. The key is for the ID on the 2 tables to be the same. -- Matt Parks MVP - Microsoft CRM "Darryl Henderson" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... I'm doing a CRM data migration with the Data Migration Foundation (DMF) and SQL Data Translation Services (DTS). Account and Contact only, but with many custom fields. The DTS packages for Account and Contact work fine and with fast load (property option) off create the triggers that create the ID's (Account or Contact ID - plug number) -into the EXT files (for the custom Account and Contact fields) but I can't get the DTS package right to load the Common Data Format (CDF) _EXT tables over the trigger loaded ID data. I can force the data in but the Migration procedure ignores them. Any nobody know what the property settings should be for creation of the main (Account) and custom (Account_Ext) table imports (DTS's)should be. Any ideas? -- Darryl - com -www.mtccrm.com - Only Microsoft CRM |
Posted: 10 Nov 2005 01:16 PM PST Not sure when the bits will make it into Action Pack. It would depend on the lead time needed for getting bits included in the Action Pack shipments. -- Matt Parks MVP - Microsoft CRM "Mark Bowles" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... Thanks for the answer. Any dates? "Matt Parks" wrote: |

Deployment Manager: Snap-in failed to initialize on 2003/CRM1.2 Posted: 10 Nov 2005 05:36 AM PST Have you granted a license to the admin user that you used when you performed the install? -- Matt Parks MVP - Microsoft CRM "ib" <com> wrote in message news:googlegroups.com... This has been asked before. So I apologize if I am repeating the same questions. I've made a significant research on this discussion group w/o any success prior looking for a help here. Also, that is my first experience with Microsoft Business Solution products installation. So please excuse me if I sound to novice or too stupid ? I've installed Windows 2003 Server Standard and then CRM 1.2 w/o any problems. Then when I try to bring up Deployment Manager. It gives me an error message "Snap-in failed to initialize.", Actually i get 3 messages like that. Also, Application Even Viewer shows a few identical errors "dmLog: IsCRMSysAdmin : WhoAmI failed. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp." I checked on all CRM services and they are running under the user name I have installed CRM and am logged on when trying to open DM. I've spent a few days researching and reinstalling the server a couple of times but it seems like I am getting stock at the same spot. Please is there anybody who could get me out of this nightmare :) ? |
