Office 2007 OCT .MSP not applying

Posted: 05 Dec 2006 03:50 PM PST

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply. I will have to look further into the config.xml
file. I dont mind having to configure this file but how would i apply all my
customisations to the install ie all the things that are in the MSP? Would i
need to do it through the GPO adm's for O2K7??

Settings will migrate over. You need to uninstall Outlook 2003. It has
always been the case that there can only be one copy of Outlook on a
computer.

I had the same problem when installing Office 2007
Enterprise. I edited the registry: --- it didn't help. The
website mentioned in another reply didn't help. The only
thing that helped was to uninstall MS Office 2003 then doing
a search of "C:\documents and folders" and deleting
everything "Office" I felt I could do without. It installed
fine after that.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your prompt answer!

This is the missing piece of the puzzle I was looking for. I did check the

the OCT's help and 2007 resource kit share a lot of entries.

Thanks again for your input.

Microsoft Office Customization Tool error message: Failed to get available product info

Posted: 30 Nov 2006 08:59 AM PST

Trial and error leads me to believe the problem is in one of two areas:

1. Either Office 2007 will not tolerate some of the subdirectories I'm
making under the network installation point (Addins, Docs, eLearning,
LanguagePacks). -or-

2. Something (an installation from this point?) is leaving a files12.cat
in the Catalog subdirectory that Office Setup does not like.

Because I keep "corrupting" the network installation point simply by
using it! But after I move some files and directories around, it works
again, without going back to the original DVD or .IMG.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas? Sande

Did not mean to sound condescending. Apologies.

Generally you want the source files as last hope back up OR you have special
patches for them you want to compile into them. The is mostly for installations
with a large number of users and specialized applications. You can usually get a
5-10% execution speed increase by compiling it on the machine it runs on so a
program has to use up a lot of time you are paying for to make that worthwhile,
say a database program with a lot of users so the time saved will add up even if
only one second per search. I am sure there are other reasons.

If you knew about those reasons you wouldn't be asking the question. I have
been through five releases of RH/FC and used one source file once -- which
didn't help. I don't bother downloading them at all rather rely upon what is on
sourceforge and such for the latest and the occasional legacy version.

Don't know SUSE but for FC I went to the KDE configuration panel to look around
and when I clicked on wireless I was told it was not configured, which is good
because I have no wireless devices. But it offered to configure it for me.
Always take all the help you can get.

[Routing tables look OK.]

A couple of thoughts:
- temporarily turn all firewalling off (if you are feeling paranoid,
disconnect from the outside world first).
- make sure neither machine is filtering PINGs
- run "tcpdump -n" or ethereal at both ends and look for ARP traffic
- borrow a hub, connect both machines and the firewall to the hub, and
see if the problem goes away. [I know this sounds weird, but I've seen
hardware SNAFUs where this made a difference.]
- use a crossover cable instead of a hub. (Regular cable if one or both
NICs can autosense)

Well, on the local machine I made sure to add the following to the MC:

later if needed but this way I can learn how much space /var, /usr, etc

For two years now there has been no problem with the CRM connector under
Exchange 2000. We implemented the connector to MSCRM 1.2 with Exchange 2003
without incident. But, we did run into a problem with a spam filter that
would filter some mail sent via MSCRM. The emails were in quaritine, but no

Also, check the IE settings of the client where this is happening. Is it
showing that it's in the Loacl intranet zone? If not, you may need ot add the
CRM erver name to that. Then you may also need to verify that the IE settings
for that zone are set to allow integrated login (via the advanced settings for

Connecting without using deafault credential

Posted: 18 Jan 2005 06:44 PM PST

The 2 issues could be related. Are you using a DNS name or an IP to access CRM?
If you are using an IP, then it assumes the machine is in the Internet zone and
you will most likely be prompted for credentials. You may need to add the
machine to your Local Intranet zone in IE. Does this same thing happen from
other client machines or just yours?

The 401 could be coming from the above issue or it could be a number of other
issues. Where is the code deployed? on the CRM erver or another machine? If
it's on a nother machine, try putting it on the CRM server. Web apps have
trouble passing the credentials through properly. Make sure your virtual
directory is configured to run with the same auth reqs as the CRM site. Also,
try passing in explicit creditisla vs default credentials to see if it's an
integrated security issue or not.

Hi Jeff,

Works operates on 'nested conditions' too.

If you provide further details then perhaps I can help.

Window 7 and Works

Posted: 04 Jun 2010 09:34 PM PDT

Microsoft officially supports Works 8.5 and newer on Windows Vista and
newer.

I'm running Works 9 on Win7 without any problems.

Others have successfully run older versions. I've heard of people
running Works 4 on Win7.

What specific problem are you having?

Insert a cell?

Posted: 01 May 2010 11:06 AM PDT

If you are looking for the feature similar to Excel where the cells
around an inserted cell are automatically moved, that doesn't exist in
Works.

As Ken mentioned, you can insert a whole row or column.

But I suspect that's not what you want. To get the results similar to
Excel, you need to manually move the cells. You can highlight a range
of cells then cut them (Ctrl-X) then paste (Ctrl-V) in the new location.

You might try using the cleanup utilities then reinstall.

If the problem is within the existing Works Program folder it does not get

After running the cleanup utilities assure the Works Program folder is

Adding my Microsoft Works Suite 2001 to Windows 7

Posted: 21 Apr 2010 11:13 PM PDT

Paul Brooks,
Did your new PC come with Works 9 already installed? If it did try the
following.
1. Do a Custom Install of MS Works 2001. Installing one program at a time.
2. During installation, create a new folder/destination for the program
folders/files. and start-up shortcuts. Such as:

C:\Program Files\MS Works 2001

Do not use the default ones that the installation program uses.

If you prefer MS Works 2001 Suite over MS Works 9, and don't want Works 9,
you need to uninstall MS Works 9 first, also delete the C:\Program
Files\Works folder and its contents. Then install MS Works 2001 Suite, using
the custom method ( I would recommend).

Interesting problem you have there Dottie.

Is the date changed when looking at the document using Print Preview on the
File menu?

Are you using Print on the File menu to print the document?

Does date change after you typed the date (not inserted)?

Works contacts is in reality Windows XP Address Book. Do not know if
Windows 7 has similar Address Book, If it does, then there is simple ways to
move/export.

Start | All Programs | Accessories | Address Book

All of Works calendar data is in a hidden folder, assure you have access to
hidden folders, then search for mswkscal.wcd. When searching assure advance
option hidden folders is checked.

Everything in the folder that mswkscal.wcd is in that references the
calendar can be copied to similar location on other computer.

Works Custom Dictionary

Posted: 09 Apr 2010 04:34 PM PDT

Thank you for your answer.

I was able to find, and open (with notepad) the CUSTOM.DIC file, after your
telling me where it was located. It seems that not all the words I have put
into the dictionary are there. A lot of place names (names of towns) are
missing and proper names (of people.) There are probably 150 words in the
file, at most.

So some are in there, for a while, but after about a week, they are gone. It
is something just to deal with. I use Microsoft Windows 6.0. Vista

I use an older version of Word on a diff. computer (from 2002, it still
works fine, never had a problem with it), and I have thousands of words in
its Custom Dic. Never had a problem with it. The solution might be to shell
out for a copy of Word and put it on my laptop.

But I still like Works for its simplicity, and if this is one drawback,
maybe I'll live with it.

Thanks again,

jaksen
