Exchange 5.5 moving into Active Directory Posted: 19 Mar 2005 10:03 PM PST What your saying is you the ADC tool that is in 2003 Exchange for Exchange 5.5? Remember my goal is to bring Exchange 5.5 into AD 2003. Joel "Jim McBee [MVP Exchange]" <spambegone.net> wrote in message news:phx.gbl... |

Posted: 16 Mar 2005 01:45 PM PST You could do this using a public folder or create a mailbox that all relevant users have access to and add it to Outlook. Global Calendars are common and can offer many benefits. Depending on the amount of users you could perhaps use the invite attendees feature that would update the calendar in user mailboxes. Disable rules on exchange 2003 Posted: 16 Mar 2005 01:00 PM PST Gerry van Cleef wrote: Exchange System Manager, Global Settings - double-click Internet Message Formats. Choose default domain (probably the only one there) and right-click/properties, advanced tab, and untick autoreply and autoforward if they're ticked. To turn off the AutoForward feature, click to clear the Automatic forwarding check box. Nope - that's the point. You don't want them doing that for many reasons. |

Posted: 16 Mar 2005 08:03 AM PST hmm, well it looks like I had everything setup correctly. I went ahead and restarted all the related exchange services, and larger messages seem to be going through now. Thanks for your help!! "Joe" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... |
SBS 2003 Standard How to create external mail accounts Posted: 16 Mar 2005 06:29 AM PST ThomasTNT wrote: That's a great question to post in microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs as SBS is heavily wizard-centric and does many things its own way. |
POP3 to connect to UNIX server Posted: 15 Mar 2005 09:45 PM PST On Tue, 15 Mar 2005 21:45:02 -0800, "frwgt350" <microsoft.com> wrote: Exchange doesn't do this natively. What you will need is a POP3 Connector. Best is to google and choose the one that fits your pocket. POPCON is about 50 euro and POPBeamer is similar. I've used POPCON and do in the home lab. Is there any reason that all this mail is being delivered to the Unix server and then you have to extract it? I could understand if all mail was sent to Unix and then addresses that didn't match parameters on the Unix were sent to this inbox for Exchange to gather but if everything is going into one box then what's the point of popping the mail? |
Posted: 15 Mar 2005 03:13 PM PST Hi Thanks for the post. I checked the internet header (which should have been the first place I looked) and the messages are in fact originating from the external users messaging system. Thanks for your input though. "Tim" wrote: |
Exchange 2003 Standard? Or Enterprise? Posted: 15 Mar 2005 01:56 PM PST <nl> wrote in message news:googlegroups.com... Here's the problem...16GB just isn't very much storage these days. And very few of the companies I've dealt with seem to be willing to place a limit on the size of user mailboxes. So, if you have a small number of users and/or place limits on mailbox size, by all means, go for Standard. But Enterprise give you a lot more flexibility in the future not only with store size but the ability to have multiple stores, cluster, etc. that I'd recommend it if possible. todd |
Posted: 15 Mar 2005 07:29 AM PST What you might have to do to is on the executives machines create a rule that sends all email to the secretary. Give the secretary permission to his mail, and add his mailbox to her outlook. Now when she receives a forwarded email from the executive she can read it over and then move it into his mailbox inbox. Yikes what a problem!!! Glad not to be in your shoes. "Martyn Fewtrell" wrote: |
How to turn off Non Delivery Reports in Exchange 5.5 Posted: 15 Mar 2005 04:17 AM PST Andy wrote: You can't customize it. I believe you can disable NDRs in E5x but I'm rusty.... Why are you worried about this, btw? If your network is protected properly from the Internet, why does it matter if someone knows your server is named "Bigdaddy" or "Server01" or whatever? |

Posted: 14 Mar 2005 11:05 AM PST Ok. The way you have it set up now, with just Anonymous selected for the authentication mode and for Relay set to only an allowed list, should meet your objectives. Store does not decrease in size after defrag Posted: 14 Mar 2005 08:31 AM PST > After running defrag there are no entries in the application log, which is puzzling. However, from my scheduled maintenance I get the 1221 Event, with the following: The database has 7095 Mb of free space after online defragementation has terminated. I stopped all Exchange services before running defrag - is there something I'm missing? cheers Ian |

Public folder e-mail and default public store Posted: 11 Mar 2005 04:27 PM PST This is develoment issue and not an administration one. The exchange solution I'm trying to develope, has seen many roadblocks and this is one of them. I may look at writing an Event sink to augment/change exchange's/SMTP's default behavior as a work around. Thanks for you input. Very valuable. "Rich Matheisen [MVP]" wrote: |
