Any plans for 2008 trial version? Posted: 15 Jan 2008 11:36 AM PST Jolly Roger wrote: I've been told (at Macworld Expo) that there will be a 2008 trial version, but no promises as to when. Re the problems--the problems came from *not* removing the trial version before installing the real version--I believe the 2008 installer has been improved to offer to remove earlier versions, and I *think* (not totally sure) that it will communicate and execute the "test drive MUST be gone" message. Codeman38--small specific questions about what it offers may be asked on the newsgroups, but it's always best to try the program before making a decision, of course. Daiya |
New G5 tower has problem opening Word 2004 Posted: 15 Jan 2008 09:31 AM PST Known issue, although no one knows the cause. There are several possible fixes--one of them should give you at least temporary relief. See the article here: http://word.mvps.org/Mac/CorruptFontErrors.html com wrote: |
eraser function in word drawing mode Posted: 13 Jan 2008 06:03 PM PST ....Another thought occurred as to where the confusion may be - there is an Eraser tool on the Tables & Borders toolbar in both Mac & PC Word. However, it does absolutely nothing with regard to images. It merely removes Borders from table cells in order to merge the adjoining cells. Posted: 13 Jan 2008 02:54 PM PST I am talking to you at the moment using my Motorola cell phone as a modem. I can tell you that the Motorola software is fairly flaky (i.e. Sometimes I works, at other times it does not...) I found the Motorola help desk to be both knowledgeable and helpful, you may try ringing them. You should also check on the Motorola web site to see if there is an update available for Motorola Phone Tools, the application that is doing the work for you. Hope this helps On 14/01/08 8:24 AM, in article com, "Desperate" <microsoft.com> wrote: -- Don't wait for your answer, click here: http://www.word.mvps.org/ Please reply in the group. Posted: 10 Jan 2008 08:36 PM PST Ditto the others as to 2008, but Daiya's right about 2007 - Right-Click the Status Bar & select from a plethora of items available from there. If the Status Bar is not displayed at all, go to Word Options from the Office button & turn it on first. -- Regards |:>) Bob Jones [MVP] Office:Mac "Alan" <net> wrote in message news:TmChj.54297$.. |
Microsoft's Mactopia site loses links to promotions and downloads Posted: 10 Jan 2008 06:52 PM PST How temporary? This is just bad form especially now when there is a time limit on promotions. Someone is being paid to do this work and putting up a site like Microsoft that's accessed constantly with no material even for a few hours is bad form IMO. -- Diane |
MS Office X translates PPT to Word Posted: 10 Jan 2008 12:41 PM PST Further to Daiya's comments: What happens if you open them from within PPt using File> Open? If that's still a problem; Are you sure they are .ppt files rather than .pps or some other type? What does Get Info tell you about the file? What PC version of PPt was used to create the files? Were they sent "naked" or were they zipped? BTW: Just for clarity there is no "Office X 2004 - v. 10.1.6" - If it's 10.1.6 it's Office X, there's no 2004 about it. Office 2004 is a completely different version (11.x) of Office:-) Also, if you're at 10.1.6 you are behind in updates - current is 10.1.9 which may make a difference. You can get up-to-date from either program's Help> menu or from the Mactopia web site: <http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=fea9fd8a-ea16-4b3c-9381-18a389d5599a&DisplayLang=en> -- Regards |:>) Bob Jones [MVP] Office:Mac <com> wrote in message news:googlegroups.com... |

Can't complete Office 2004 setup assistant Posted: 09 Jan 2008 09:06 AM PST On 1/14/08 12:53 PM, in article googlegroups.com, "com" <com> wrote: Sorry about that. I'll add that to the instructions. In Office 2004 you can drag over or use the installer. Both ways will require the "first run" to trigger. This installs fonts and preferences. Some are invisible files like your CD Key. Run "Remove Office". Not sure how you removed it before but simply trashing does not get all files. Next, in System Preferences create a new User and give it admin privileges. Now boot from this new User.Try to install. Does this work. If not, then download and run the 10.5.1 updater. As a last resort you might have to do an "Archive & Install" of the OS. Apple - Downloads - Mac OS X Updates - Mac OS X 10.5.1 Update <http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1051update ..html> A tip: When updating, use Software Updater to inform you of updates, but go to Apple's downloads page and get the standalone updater. Luckily this doesn't happen to everyone. With Leopard there are more problems being reported because Office uses the base OS files to work. Some Leopard users have run into problems because of the permission issues and other faulty system files causing havoc. Can you drag it over. Yes and know. Office will sense certain files haven't been run and trigger the 'first run' which could land you back in the same place you are now. -- Diane, Microsoft Mac MVP (MVPs are not Microsoft Employees) Entourage Help Page <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/> Entourage Help Blog <http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/> |
