Posted: 08 Sep 2004 07:05 PM PDT There's a download for that called err2343.exe. can't remember where I got it-long time ago. You run that file before installing Office2K again. Alternatively, you need to install Office 2K before you install Notes. |
is it easy to install office 2003 Posted: 08 Sep 2004 12:05 AM PDT Ok, the Office2003 disc is brand new and not been used before. So I take it, that'll be fine then! Bloomin' good job as I can't believe how much they cost. I went into a computer shop and they said around £100 and that dosen't even include everything. So I suppose the only way to prevent everything being wiped (as I saved everything in Office Word documents) is to save it onto CD then? I have to say, this 'chat-room' is excellent, don't you think? Posted: 07 Sep 2004 12:57 PM PDT Hi Jerry, This article has additional information that may be helpful to you. The MSOCache (MS Office Cache) folder is a part of the Local Installation Source (LIS) feature, new in Office 2003. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;830168&FR=1 ======= <<"Jerry" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:795e01c49514$f6524d90$gbl... I just reformatted my HD, installed XP Pro and Office 2003. Then noticed a folder named MSOCache. Because it uses the word "cache" in it, I'm wondering if it was a temporary folder used when I installed Office. Am I close? Is it necessary? Can it be safely deleted? Just wondering... Thanks in advance. Office 97 Pro & Windows XP Pro SP2 Posted: 06 Sep 2004 03:18 AM PDT Steve, This problem arises with most old Microsoft software. SP2 is designed to force customers buy new software. Office 97 is 7 years old and so according to uncle Bill it should be replaced even if you want to use it for basic spreadsheet or wordprocessing purposes. You have to understand that if software packages are not replaced regularly, then Microsoft can't make any money. Why should customers continue using the same software for life?. The alternative is to have self destruct button so that after every 3 years the software will not install. Perhaps uncle Bill is worried of Anti-trust commission! hth "Steve Parry [MVP]" wrote: -- I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation. Posted: 05 Sep 2004 09:43 PM PDT Hi garfield-n-odie, Thanks for the help. I actually already tried renaming the key "Data" and it did not help. Since your post, I tried the /a switch, it too did not help. But since this is related to only one certain document, I'm not going to worry about it. When I create a new doc and test the same, all is fine. Strange that it's only effected one certain doc. Thanks Selvan "garfield-n-odie" wrote: |
Posted: 05 Sep 2004 09:11 PM PDT Also should note that the drive is able to read other cds, was able to install two other programs. Problem seems to be a conflict between this drive and the disk themselves. "oicur12" wrote: |

Hi, We have 29 copies of Office 2003 Basic Edition and 27 of them have been installed on to computers in the office -- unfortunately, only 25 of the 29 copies are marked as to which computers they are on. I know this question has been posed on these newsgroups many times, but I have not heard a definite "yes" or "no", so here it is again.. Can I figure out what Product Key was used on a computer to install Office 2003? I would like to determine which 2 of the unmarked 4 CDs are unused so I can install the last two copies of Office 2003. I have downloaded the "Magic Jelly Bean" software referenced in some of the posts but it does not find the Office 2003 key, and since the site and the software have not been updated since 2003 I'm thinking the site is inactive. Thanks, Rich Try this: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html Regards ? |
