Need to get rid of a "line"

Hello.  In Word 2007.  Someone sometime started a document from some template gotten from somewhere.  We just do not know.   The document is now some 200 pages long.  In the header and footer of this template (now living as our document) there is this really annoying single horizontal "line" that lives margin-to-margin on each page inside both the header and footer.  I believe it is probably the template author's attempt at implementing some sort of graphic "styling".  It is most annoying because we cannot get rid of it.  We cannot get rid of it because...  we don't know what it is! 

 

I know what it's not.  It's not a drawing element out of Insert > Shapes.  It's not a table border.  The line is faded in intensity when displayed and printed.  When you hover and click on it, the mousePointer/cursor changes to a double-headed vertical arrow with two small lines sandwiched between (this is the best I can do to describe it so pardon me...).  You can move this thing up and down inside the header/footer area only.  You can turn on "show/hide hidden formatting" out of the paragraph group and there's no indication it's coming from there.  If you position just below it and try to "Backspace" over it, the line refuses to budge and remains.  And the most annoying part of all, if you remove headers/footers this "line" continues to be on the page top and bottom and has ill effects especially when the document is printed.  And, yes, you still cannot remove it.  If I knew what this line was or where it came from I could probably figure out how to expluse it.  So to the question:

 

How can I tell what the heck this line is?

Are there plans for a sreen recorder feature in Word 2013?

As a math teacher it would be helpful to record my inking in word and include the video in the word document for my students. Are there any plans to include a screen record feature in Word 2013? I know there are ways to record the screen with other software but it would be much more time efficient if the recording feature was a simple built-in available in Word.

Spacing Modifier Letters

How do I get the expanded fonts for "spacing modofier letters"? I have Office 2007 and my word processing assistant has the same. I edited a Word document to include a spacing modifier Unicode-02F0 (hex). Yet on her machine it shows up as un unknow character box. How can I get her the same font library to include this character?

How I can remove Watermark from even pages of my document?

When I want remove Watermark of my document, It remove only on odd pages and it doesn't remove from even pages. It only be remove from whole pages of my document, when I use same odd and even pages header and footer but, I want different odd & Even pages. I use MS word 2007. Please if anyone know how I can fix it help me.
I can send my document via email if it's necessary.

Microsoft Preview 2013 zooms out my text so its the smallest size and when I manually zoom in, it just keeps zooming back out.

When using speech recognitions to type on and Microsoft office 2013,  the program zooms out my text so I am unable to read it. and when I tried to zoom back in, it just keeps going back out to 10% and is fixed on the smallest paper size possible. Any suggestions on how to fix or could I just download the 2012 version or something?

Hi Mehek, it's definately possible, but not supported. You need to do a lot
of custom work to have it support your own tables, and make them work
offline in Outlook.

Thanks to both of you for your timely replies. I think
the path we are going to take is to continue making
customizations to the 1.0 server, export them, then
uninstall/reinstall 1.0, import the customizations (and
other master records through DMF), and finally upgrade
1.2. Seems kind of long, but the best route for not
duplicating work done.

No.
The best way of adding something is to add a table which
store <AccountID>+<ProductTypeID>+<SalesPersonID>
if an Account belone to 3 product type, there will be 3
records in this new table to describe this situation.

This solution is better than yours, but the reason of why
I ask here is I want to find a original solution of CRM,
see if MSCRM has already provided solution for this. You
know, if we add table to CRM system, we have to write all
related programs to handle Add,Edit,Delete function of
that entity. And we have to reponsible for provide user
with the interface to input, modify, delete this table,
that's really a big trouble.

Ok, but we cannot connect the existing Database, because
the Database belongs to the Adventure Works Cycle...

I will be very gratefully, if someone know the pages in
the Migration Framework Guide that describes the data
migration from CRM 1.2 to CRM 1.2 (so I don't have to read
all 70 pages :s)

Or is there another possibility?

Probably not explained very well ( as if display problems are ever easy to
explain!) but its NOT missing the taskbar icons such as work offline.
Its the message pane section that is missing content in the beta. I am
considering another machine now, as this is a bit of a pain so I've dragged
out.
Plus god knows what MS think of me with all the test machines I've been
activating AND re-activating trying to get this up AND that server (
remember that song time after time its going through my head) AND my XP Pro
office use Dell workstation that I juggled hardware with (but are basically
identical Dell servers except SCSI and it just would not ghost so I had to
clean install....again!)
so I didnt want to have to flatten the laptop install yet again so Im going
to see how I get on with a W2k with Off2k. It seems Ive actually located the
"hotfix" in the docs specifically that was mentioned, so Ive downloaded to
test with Off2k (wouldnt work before because hotfix was missing).

I also had problems uninstalling the client I think down to the SQL Desktop
Engine, so now Im left with a Windows XP SP1 with a partially installed
client and each time I try and remove it, it gets stuck halfway installing
the MSDE....the directory has been deleted too, although there is one
catalogue file in the MSCRM install that wont budge because of an open file
0000002 something even after reboots. Unless someone can advise how to
manually hack an uninstall to MSCRM/MSDE.

You can stay GoldMine, all is forgiven.........:)

I have gor the sample data working with other names in
1.0. In fact I never used the supplied names, but
indicated which of my users was to represent each of the
roles. Based on my experience the names themselves are
only important if you want to use the tutorial or other
similar documentation.

You should be able to fix this problem by removing the
licences from the users, and creating other users, then
reimporting the data. There is no limit to the number of
users set up in MS CRM - it is the number who are
currently assigned a licence that matters.

Unless I'm misinterpreting your question, CRM uses single
sign-on via AD so to log as as someone else other than
administrator you just need to log off as administrator
from the machine and log back in as the other person.

Hi Jim, CRM 1.0 will partially run on Win2K3 with enough massaging, but it
isn't worth the time it takes. Better to get CRM 1.2 if you want to run on
Win2K3, and be able to do customizations (the CRM 1.0 SOAP api's won't work
on Win2K3 (some sort of security problem).

I have been converting documents successfully by "Save As a PDF" for some time now.  However, tonight the relatively straightforward procedure was met with the message "Export failed due to an unexpected error."  Do you have any suggestions as to how I could resolve the issue?

I am setting up our new computer...two users. It came pre loaded with Office 2010 professional. I have a product key. It's Windows 8. I have managed to get Office to display as 'tiles' for user 1 but can't get it for user 2. Help. Suggestions?

I have text and want to add a picture but I don't want the picture full width.  I want the area to the right of the picture to contain text that wraps from the text above the picture and wraps to the text below it.

Can MS Word do this or do I have to find another word processor?  A desktop-publishing is close but no cigar.

Nope. The public folders will be available to everyone regardless of which storage group they reside in.

Each storage group can have 5 stores. One can only have 4 if you have a public folder store in it for a total of 20 stores.

Slow Email Server

How would we run Perfom? Start/Run? Also, what is AV?
It seems like the inetinfo.exe process is running at about
600MB and still climbing. We have noticed that our queue
has a lot of spammers trying to pass through our server.
What is the best way to stop this from happening? We are
new to setting up networks and are learning as we go. Is
there an article out there that would enable us to
lockdown the server from outside spammers? We are running
a Windows 2003 Server.

line setup:

All I want is an .MST that forces the user to use Outlook
with Cached Exchange Mode set and the .ost on c:\. This
should be possible, right?

I created a survey that is mostly in text boxes (except for name/email address at the top). I have both plain text content controls and drop down content controls within the text boxes. In editing restrictions, when I check fillable form, it will only let me type the person's name/email address at the top(not in a text box) and when I check comments, it will only let me edit/choose the drop-down content controls and not the plain text content controls. I have not put any restrictions on formatting. Is there any way I can make the editing restrictions so the clients can only type name/email at top, select option from drop down and type in plain text content controls?

Error when opening a word document.

I am working on a large word file (75 MB/611 pages) with a high number of photos and text boxes.  I saved the file and now cannot reopen it.  I am getting the error" The name in the end tag element must match the element type in the start tag".  I tried the MS fixit program however it was not able to run on my computer.  Addtionally I purchased a on-line recovery program and it has failed to repair the document as well.  Hope someone on here might be able to help me fix the file.

How do I stop the style list floating (MSW2007)

I am using Word 2007.  When I used it under XP I could bring up the style list onto the window and it would stay fixed.  It did not float, and. more importantly, it did not obscure any of the text in the document. Under W7 it floats.

How do I get the XP effect - non-floating, non-obscuring?

VBA: Searching for Misspelled Words in Word

I want to create a macro that will go through an entire document and show me each misspelled word so that I can take action about it (e.g., correct it or add it to the dictionary).  I am obviously too lazy to search the documents, which tend to be large, manually for misspellings.

How would I do that?

Determining Contents of Text to Cut/Copied and Pasted (Word VBA)

I want to determine the variable value of the text being cut/copied and pasted (this is after it is cut/copied and before it is pasted).

2010 Word opening screen is from the File tab and none of the Home page taskbar items show. If I click on Home page tab everything shows but I cannot type of that page....

2010 Word opening screen used to default to the Home view, now it comes up as the File view with no task tabs showing such as Bold, Underline, etc.

When I click on the Home page, the task bar items are there as always but now I cannot type on that screen (can type of the File screen).  How can I change this?

 

Word 2010 display of comments, footnotes, etc. within document

I am using Windows 7 and Word 2010.  When I hover over an inline comment or a footnote, the text does not display as it did in Word 2007.  Is there any setting that is preventing the display of the comment/footnote text when hovering over it?  Thanks,

Styles Question

In a document I just created I have two footnotes.   Ordinarily I have Word (Styles, Options) display only styles In use or In Document since IMHO the other couple thousand built-in styles (ok, maybe there are a mere hundred or so) are inscrutable and just get in the way.  After creating the footnotes I tried to edit the footnote style to change the line spacing.  But the Footnote Text style did not show up in styles In Use or In Current Document.  This makes no sense because I can see the footnotes and therefore the footnote text style has to be In Use or In Current Document or, more logically, in both!.  So I changed my Options to All Styles, quickly found and edited Footnote Text as I wanted.  No problem.  Then I switched my Options back to In Use but the style disappeared!  (Not the footnotes, of course, or their modified formatting, just the style name in the display).  I see the same thing with the Options set to In Current Document.  What this about?  What must I do so that a style I have in my document is, well,  In Current Document or a style I have in use in that document shows up as In Use?  Or are these terms--In Use and In Current Document--intended to have meanings unrelated to those words?  Hardly a mission-critical issue but it seems bizarre.

Copying deleted text (comment not a question)

If you try to copy text deleted with track changes you get "The section is marked as deleted text" and nothing gets to the clipboard. This is very unhelpful. We should be able to copy text marked for deletion regardless of track change status. e.g. if the selection includes some deleted text then copy final text (as is what already happens) but if all deleted text (as must fire unhelpful message) then copy original.

Each office product should have a direct feedback link within the "contact us" section, not buried in a site predominantly built for searching. I have several product specific suggestions. Maybe MS doesn't want to hear it, and I don't really want to spend the time to provide it, but with enough 'new feature' irritations to warrant rolling back to earlier rather than later MS products I'm getting close... if I thought MS would listen?!

How do I link separate Word documents?

Specifically, I would like to link several documents in Word 2010 by keyword(s) so that if I search for that keyword, I get all the relevant documents.

Do I need some kind of Access DB?

Word 2013 Print function, multiple copy request produces only 1 copy

In Word 2013 (RTM) when I request to print multiple copies (say 3 copies) of a document only 1 copy is printed.  ("File" > Print > copies: 3).

Is this a bug (likely) or a "configuration" option somewhere?

Blurry images and altered formatting when pasting from Powerpoint 2010 into Word 2010

Hi, I used to paste charts, tables, text, and other creations from powerpoint 2007 into word 2007 with no problem. I would paste special as enhanced metafile, and I would get a crystal clear carbon copy of exactly what the image looked like. Now I'm using 2010, and when I paste as enhanced metafile Word changes the formatting and especially the font so much that the image doesn't look good anymore. When I paste special as bitmap or png instead, then I get the correct font but the image becomes pretty blurry. 

I've tried changing the settings in both Word and Powerpoint to "do not compress images in file", but that hasn't had an effect.

Does anyone have a solution to this? There's got to be some kind of fix.

I have Windows XP Service  Pack 2; and Word 2010 suddeny now takes forever to locate my printer print a page.  This problem has only appeared in the last two  weeks.

Troubleshooter suggests WINWORD incompatioble.

What should I do please?

64-bit Web Apps Frustration

OK, this is less of a question and more of a general annoyance I have with Web Apps. I know it's been said elsewhere on here, but I find it absolutely aggravating that Microsoft Web Apps cannot play along with the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office. If I had known this was going to be such a problem, I probably wouldn't have gone with the 64-bit version of the software in the first place. I just hope that with the new version of Office this problem is getting fixed.

So, I guess there is a question in here, will Office 2013 64-bit be compatible with Web Apps, or is it still going to have compatibility problems? I just find it frustrating that Microsoft can't get their products to work seamlessly with each other.
