CRM User Manager

If you look in the Implementation Guide, it will outline the steps needed to
assign a license to the user that you used to install the app. It does require
being logged in as that same user though.

I have the License installed, how do I assign it to a user?

CRM 1.2 add user fails for OU users. Domain root users OK.

Anything in the Event Log on the CRM server?

When you specify the domain login via the web client, did you entr in the domain
qualified name(domain\user)?

The domain logon name that you are using does not exist in Active Directory

We noticed today that in order for our vpn to work the user has to be moved
out of the OU back to the Users folder in the root of the domain as well.
Very odd.

Thanks!

Sounds like you did not install the CRM Exchange Router on your Exchange server.
As a result, it can't find the registry keys that tell it where the Exchange
router is installed.

Everything else SEEMS to work just fine.

Modifying AccountBaseTable

Posted: 15 Dec 2004 04:59 AM PST

You can use the sp_ReplDropColumn stored procedure to drop a column from a
replicatied table. I have no idea what this might do to any SFO clients that
have already had the column added to them.

Another option is to drop the replication and re-enable it after the desired
changes. Again, I have no idea what this will do with the SFO client.

In fact, I would like to resize a custom field that has been added and
that is to big and refrain us from adding other field.

My problem is when I edit the field and save the new structure, SQL
complains about not being able to drop the table since it is
replicated. This is exacly the part that Mj Miller skips in his
article. :(

Any information about this part?

Crm Calender not able to update Exchange Calender..

It's very bad that people have to do this, gives us alot of trouble with
customers wanting to only use SFO.

Hope it gets better in CRM 2005, heard that the integration should be
better.

OUtlook e-mail sending errors

Posted: 14 Dec 2004 01:45 PM PST

Hi all,

We have begun the roll out of MS CRM within our organisation but have
gotten into some problems with the Outlook integration.

Whenever we link an e-mail to CRM and try to reply to the sender we get
this error:

"An error occurred while trying to send the e-mail. Try again."

This also happens when you try and start a new CRM e-mail.
Can anyone help us out here?

Thanks in advance

Company / Contact details available to non CRM users

You could definately write your own ASPX pages to retrieve data from the
database directly. As long as you are accesssing the database directly (and not
through the SDK), there is no licensing issue. However, when doing this, you
are bypassing the built-in security of the app and you will need to ensure you
don't pull back logically deleted records.

You should NOT try to update records in this manner though.

There have been some rumors about a potential "portal" type license that may be
available in the near future that would allow you to use SDK calls for this type
of applicaiton.

I would also want to know whether it will break the license rule if we have
web application access the CRM database directly.

The actual document is stored in the DocumentBody text field in that table.

I believed to, but in that table only have the filnename, the filesize and

from one directory to another, and when i open the activity in the browser
and save the file no problem happened. so, the crm keep the files attached in
some another place, i want to know where. Is there someone that knows?

Sales process without any activities...possible??

Michael: One of the things I have found to be beneficial for our internal use
of CRM and for our clients is going through the exercise of defining a sales
process. If you have multiple divisions or product lines/services, this can
get a little complex. But it has been helpful to define a methodology based
on the company's overall philosophy of selling. Usually the goal is to come
up with a broad structure for the sales process/funnel. Of course, the more
broad, the less insightful are the reports.

That being said, I would recommend two things:
1) For the reporting to be meaningful, some parameters of the sales process
will need to be defined. In other words, what stage of a sale makes it 25%
likely to close, what about 50% or 75%? If you let every sales person assign
arbitrary probabilities, you will get arbitrary reports. You might consider
setting up a sales process that has just basic steps like:
A-Initial Conversation
Task: Send prospect email confirming details of conversation
Probability: 10%
B-Proposal
Task: Deliver quote for product
Probability: 20%
C-Negotiate
Task: Send letter confirming negotiated price
Probability: 50%
D-Close
Task: Send contract
Probability: 80%
E-Submit to Operations
Task: Notify project manager of new client
Probability: 98%

This would at least allow you to have more meaningful reports.

2) I would also suggest looking at c360's Forecast Manager (www.c360.com)
This is a great tool for tracking and adjusting opportunities. It allows you
to jump from one sales stage to the next (skipping associated tasks) and
change probability percentages and estimated sales figures from one place.

Good luck.

If someone does send you a 'base' XML, make sure you have the right lanugage
version.
US English is different to International English and the XML files are NOT
compatible.

I mean our GroupCalendar which is an Add-on to MS CRM 1.2
and you can look into another user's appointments(calendar) in MS CRM.
Look at www.mscrm-addons.com.

If you have further question contact me.

Yes, we can change ISV.config to add the Left Nav items.
Its the 'web' page that gets shown when you click that button I am after an
example of.

A page that uses the CSS to make it look like the other page shwn for an
Account.

Thanks
