Here is an error I received when backing up just the mailboxes, Do you have
any idea what 0B9A7111EB665C109CCEA2108280FB44DBCAAA7AB7B3FAAF is?

WARNING: "\\MAIL\Microsoft Exchange
Mailboxes\0B9A7111EB665C109CCEA2108280FB44DBCAAA7A B7B3FAAF" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.
Database or database element is corrupt

The folder is created automatically when the first message is filtered.

Thanks Steve. Acutually, the ip i put in there was just a random one. on
the error is actually the external ip. I will try it out and let you know.

Sounds like you need a product called SetPerm. you can download it here:
http://www.slipstick.com/files/setperm.zip
You have to be logged on as a user with access to every mailbox, and there
are some command line switches you have to use to start it. But, it does
allow you to make changes to all the mailboxes in the organization and to
specify which folder you want to change.

Save? In productivity and performance? Probably lots!
In monetary terms? I doubt you will 'save' in the short term, but maybe
in the longterm.

You will pay for Exchange and Windows and CALs.
You will likely pay for an Exchange-aware backup solution.
You will probably pay for an Exchange-aware antivirus solution.
You may pay for an Exchange specific reporting application.

You will get control over your email. Confidential messages sent within
the office stay within the office. You get a lot greater performance
from your email server. Messages sent from the secretary to the boss
get delivered immediately with MAPI. With a POP solution, you have to
wait for the boss's email client to ask the server if there is new mail.
You save on WAN bandwidth as your internal mail does not go out to the
internet. You save yourself from having to backup email from everyone's
workstation, as with Exchange it remain in the store.

Now there are numerous other features within Exchange that may have a
value for you that can translate into 'savings'. Shared calendars.
Public folders. Resource booking, like conference rooms or projectors.
Task assignment. Mailbox delegation so the receptionist can take
care of a manager's inbox in his absence. These things add vaue to many
many companies. Maybe they fit your needs, but don't get stuck on the
'sticker price'.

Well, it isn't an aggregate of every user's mailbox calendar folder....it's
just a shared calendar, good for company holidays, staff vacations, etc -
there are other fancier things you can do, with third party tools, but most
companies I know just use it as an additional, central, calendar.

i can definitely log into another mailbox, but i'm pretty sure ther
is no way another user can be logging into our server, let alone hav
the rights to be able to run exmerge in the first place.

i can run exmerge from my own mailbox just fine when logged in a
myself. i am an administrator on the system, so i SHOULD have n
problem running it from other mailboxes, but i can't run it withou
getting that error..
