OFFICE 2000 SMALL BUSINESS & OFFICE 200 PRO

Posted: 06 Jun 2005 07:23 AM PDT

Unfortunately, you cannot install updates without the original CD. I would
not recommend installing Smal Business over Professional as it can cause
problems in the future.

If you have install Office 2000 Professional on one computer at this time, I
would remove Office 2000 SBE using the Eraser 2000, link below, then install
the Office Professional and then install your updates.

Download Eraser2k.exe now

or

an article that has the link mentioned above:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;239938

I hope this helps,

Desktop ICONS disappeared/changed

Posted: 05 Jun 2005 06:13 PM PDT

John -

I was talking to my husband about this. He said it happens to him at work
often. He said just reboot and everything will be fine. He said it's always
the same icons that go first too. Something about something stepping on the
part of the RAM where this info is stored.

I've learned that he's usually right. And yes, I've told him that I say
that. :-)

You are correct in assuming you need the CDs to install Office XP. You might
try calling the following number to see if they can order one for you at a
discount. Otherwise, you can check on EBay or buy Office 2003.

custom installation wizard directory for file location in word H:

There is a section of the Installation Wizard (and I forget which
screen) where you can set papameters for all the various MS Office
products. In the Word section you can find the default file open/close
location. There are also Office (one for each program .adm files where
you can specify these as well.

Remove Office 2000 Bus. Ed.

Posted: 31 May 2005 05:28 PM PDT

Thanks - but I already found that one and I had already done all that on my
own - unfortunately something was still in there somewhere because when I
tried again to install my legal copy It still would not let me. I finally
saved everything I didn't want to lose and reformatted the hard drive and
installed everything I wanted again. It's working great now.

We agree on this, just differ on how best to implement the learning

I'm sure you know that neither of us will convince 90% of those asking

Yes, and there was a 60 day free trial MS Office on the computer when I got it.
Which I uninstalled right before loading the purchased version.

How do I install Microsoft Office Professional on two computers?

Posted: 30 May 2005 11:55 AM PDT

If your laptop came with a trial version of Office 2003 preinstalled on
the hard drive by the computer manufacturer, you should uninstall the
trial version before you install your purchased Office 2003 Pro. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=836178 "You receive an 'invalid
product key' error message when you start an Office 2003 program after
you install Office Professional Edition 2003" for more information.
