Importing Outlook contacts

Posted: 08 Jun 2004 02:18 PM PDT

yes its possible to bulk load accounts into crm, but it'll require you going through sql (directly into crm db
we've bulk loaded about 2000 accounts successfully using DTS to load into AccountBase and CustomerAddressBas

your import file(s) will need to be modified to map fields in those 2 tables
example accountbase_import.cs
uniqid,,,,,1,3,,,,,0,,ownerbu,,created,,,,,False,\ "company\",\"\",,,\"\",\"\",,,,\"\",\"\",\"\",\"\" ,\"\",\"\",\"\",False,False,\"\",False,\"\",\"\",\ "\",False,,,,False,False,date,c_user,date,c_user,\ "security\",binary,,,0,,1,,\r\n"

uniqid id = gui
ownerbu = owning businnes uni
created = created by (usually guid from admin account
company = company nam
date = created date/modified dat
c_user = created by / modified b
security = security descriptor (this one is tricky
binary = 16 digit random number will d

*note this is not supported by m

hope this helps

Sales for Outlook - SQL desktop not connected?

Posted: 08 Jun 2004 09:51 AM PDT

I'm not sure, but I don't think we saw this issue with version 1.0 of SFO. I
mainly ran into this solution because I was trying to register a client MSDE
from our SQL server enterprise manager but it wasn't connecting, but the
client was working fine. I could even ping it fine. After some googling I
found out that the SQL instance (server, not client) on the client machine
needs tcp/ip enabled. The synch process just needs tcp/ip for the client,
not so much server, unless you want to register it remotely........

Access Denied in CRM for Outlook

Posted: 08 Jun 2004 09:24 AM PDT

Ian

I was told about this fix from Microsoft. Here is a similar article

TechKnowledge
Error "The Logged On User Does Not Have Sufficient Security
Permissions" When the Client is Offline Trying to Access a Microsoft CRM
Folder

Return to previous page

Document ID: 31692
Date Created: 6/30/2003
Date Last Modified: 8/6/2003
Language: English - United States
Country: USA
Product: Microsoft CRM
Versions: 1.0
Modules: Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook

Issue

Error - "The logged on user does not have sufficient security
permissions to view these records or perform the specific action. For more
information, contact your system administrator." occurs when the client is
offline and tries to access any of the Microsoft CRM folders.

Resolution

A. Make a backup of the MSCRM registry key before following
these steps.

To make a backup follow these steps:

1. Go to Start | Run and type in Regedit.

2. Then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Microsoft |
MSCRM.

3. Right click on the MSCRM folder.

4. Choose Export.

5. Then save the backup.

B. Make sure you are offline in the Sales for Outlook Client and
then follow these steps.

1. Go to Start | Run and type in regedit on your Microsoft CRM
Sales for Outlook client.

2. Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Microsoft | MSCRM
| UserSecInfo.

3. Right click UserSecInfo and choose modify.

4. Change the first two digits to 00.

Now try to access the Microsoft CRM application when you are
offline.

KDC Errors for CRM server

Posted: 08 Jun 2004 07:41 AM PDT

Yup, just take a note of what the duplicate entry is before you delete it
(with ADSIEdit.msc), this way if any issues arise you can just revert back.

Does you need a server to run MS CRm?

Posted: 08 Jun 2004 07:26 AM PDT

You need a web server for the crm web server. A SQL server for the CRM
database. You only need Exchange server if you want to send and receive
email into CRM. Note that you cannot use any other mail server other than
Exchange.

Beyond that you also need to be on an Active Directory enabled network.

Lotos Notes

Nery,
I think we can say with absoulte certainty that Micorsoft will not
break a leg to make this product avialable in Lotus. Third party
companies may develop something in the future, but this product is
"brand new".

You may find something more efficient to deploy from www.lotus.com.

Good luck :)

How can we hide accounts from Salesperson users?

Posted: 07 Jun 2004 11:45 AM PDT

HI

There are so many ways of doing it in CRM. Firstly, by creating business units, assigning the users to one BU and the managers to the parent BU and modify the roles accordingly. Or put everyone in the same BU and modify the roles accordingly, in other words, give managers bu lever read access and users User Level read access to those record types you wish, for example only contacts or accounts.

How To Import Blank Fields into Picklist Fields

Posted: 07 Jun 2004 09:38 AM PDT

Another alternative would be to just update the tables directly after the Import
via SQL. Direct updates are technically not supported, but as long as you are
updating something basic (like a picklist), then there usually isn't any impact.

Hi Ian,

Had the same problem.
A simple workaround that worked for me is to map the blank field to "Default
Value", import the Contacts and subsequently run a Manual Workflow to test for
this and plug in "Null" when found.
For multiple blank fields, set up dummy discreet values in the picklist/s to be
imported to, map the blank fields to them and plug "Nulls" as above.

Not elegent I grant you but .......

Hope this helps.

Help to bind a new form on an account

Thanks for your help,
In fact, I think the problem come from the CredentialCache class.
When I'm using your code example, the compiler error message is :

Compiler Error Message: CS1519: Invalid token '=' in class, struct, or
interface member declaration
in the line : usuario.Credentials =
System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;

Have you got any idea to solve this problem?

Are you using the BizUser class right? I am using this
class to retrieve the authenticated user and works fines.

Try it:
BizUser usuario = new BizUser();

usuario.Credentials =
System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;

//diretorioVirtual = 'http://' + '<your crm host>'
//+ '/mscrmservices/'
usuario.Url = diretorioVirtual + "BizUser.srf";

//here the SystemUserId ;)
usuarioId = usuario.WhoAmI().UserId;

I hope who this help.
