Works 8 - text replacement formula ?

Posted: 20 Jul 2005 07:45 PM PDT

Hi Charlie,

When you type an account number into a cell in a preadsheet, that
number remains, although you may reformat the displayed appearance.

However, you could link the contents of another cell to that cell and
based on the contents (account number) of the second cell could then
LOOKUP the corresponding company name from a Lookup Table.

For instance say in cell A2 you put the account number 21

If, in cells F2:F10, you had company account numbers (ascending order)
and in cells G2:G10 you had the corresponding company name, then
the range F2:G10 is the Lookup Table.

In B2 you could have the formula = VLOOKUP(A2,F2:G10,1) to
have the corresponding company name for cell A2 appear in cell B2

quarterly popup - ad in works suite 2005

Posted: 19 Jul 2005 11:05 AM PDT

The Key I posted Does control the AD. I changed the date in one of the
values in the key to today's date and the AD popped up when I launched
Works. If you purchased for example PictureIt and Works separately then
that may explain why you would have two keys.

If you do not want to mess with the registry then you would need to call
tech support for assistance

Formatting problem in Works 8.0 spreadsheet

Posted: 16 Jul 2005 08:05 PM PDT

Thanks, Kevin.

The " symbol does NOT appear before the "number" in the formula/entry
bar when I click on the cell so I'm not sure what's going on. In any
case, I uninstalled and reinstalled again but his time I reinstalled
from the MS WorksSuite DVD and not from the Application and Driver
Recovery program furnished by Gateway. This worked and now everything is
fine ... numbers align right as they should.

Hi John,

I believe that the feature you require i.e. Insert>Field, is not
available within Works.

However, you may wish to experiment with Works Autocorrect
that acts like WORD's Autotext feature.

How to open a MS Word 6.0 document in MS Works 8?

Posted: 07 Jul 2005 04:21 PM PDT

I'm surprised the Word 6 converter wasn't included with your Works 8. This article says
it should be:
File formats that are supported in Works 7/8 & Suite 2003/04/05
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=884182
It specifically lists Works 7.0 in the body of the article, but the heading says it should
also apply to Works 8.0.

You might try Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and select Microsoft Works, then the
CHANGE option. Perhaps when it was originally installed, all the text converters weren't
installed.

Works calendar does not work

Hi Sam S,

Appears your problem is not associated with mswkscal.wcd.

My next suggestion is to reinstall Works. I also suggest you use the
clean-up utility before reinstalling. Typical instructions can be found
at...

Highlight your spreadsheet column and go to "Format" --> "Numbers". Select
"Number" in the format type window, then set the number of decimal places
you want.

Did you previously removed Microsoft Office 2003 or Microsoft Office Trial

If not, perhaps try using Works CleanUp utility, then reinstall.

Need help - How to delete installed Office 2003and install Office 97

Posted: 02 Jul 2005 05:39 PM PDT

Hi arouth,

This may help explain why the product key is required.
http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/activation.mspx

If you re-run Setup for Office 2003 , it *should* present you with
an option to uninstall it.

File associations can be changed, so that files are opened by the
program/application of your own choosing?

Most word processors can read the RTF format. That includes Microsoft Word as well the as
the free WordPad accessory included with all versions of Windows.

By the way, I tried the link that Kevin sent you and it works for me.

Confirmed, Michael, he was using a shortcut from WksWP.exe which launches

Wks 6 Database report: won't save

Posted: 28 Jun 2005 05:18 PM PDT

The fix:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q136/3/20.asp

The Cause:
In List View, changing All font sizes in one go will affect the report
widths.
(done by picking on top left square, or wiping ALL fields)
If you want to change all the fonts en mass in List view without
affecting the the Report Column widths
you can do it by selecting all but one field, then change font size.
Then select the remaining field and change that. If you have hidden
fields (i.e. width is zero) then you can select (wipe) ALL the visible
fields and change just those.
Incidentally if you select ALL cells in Report Edit view (top left square)
and change font size,
that will also affect the column widths.
To summarize; if you don't do any selection en mass
when changing font sizes the report columns remain rock solid.
Eric.
