System Time advances 1 hour each bootup; /etc/localtime linked to non-mounted file? Posted: 28 Apr 2004 07:11 AM PDT com (Mark Bergman) wrote in message news:<google.com>... I'm still confused from time to time with Linux clocks and local time .... I would trust Bill's insights/experience re: the localtime kludge and chrony. I'm still trying to understand RH's compiled zone files directory structure -- Bill? Anyway, when I saw your post I looked up /usr/share/zoneinfo/Etc/GMT and noticed that all the entries look awfully "generic" and not likely compiled with DST or BST or any other local "time change" adjustments (rules). Perhaps these are not meant to be used in conjunction with local time in the RTC. Couldn't you use one of the more specific zone files, eg., [/usr/share/zoneinfo/] Europe/London where time change rules are compiled into the zone file? regards, prg email above disabled |

Posted: 27 Apr 2004 06:37 AM PDT In comp.os.linux.setup, Mike H uttered these immortal words: You'll need a more up to date modules-init-tools among others to get a 2.6 kernel working with Woody. I use Sid and don't know how to get a 2.6 kernel working with Woody short of adding an unstable APT source and getting the required updates from there. Doing this /could/ break your system. There may be backports available too. Just Google and see. The information here works for creating my own kernel 2.6 deb packages (even though it talks about 2.4, it'll make a 2.4 deb with Woody though) but won't help you at the moment I guess: http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/reference/ch-kernel.en.html -- Andy. |
