Drop-down menu in Works Database

Brian,
There is no download available and apparently the windows version is
not include with the retail version at least that's according to a sales rep
at the local apple store. I bought mine from the Apple store for education
online this CD contains both Windows and Mac. You might try contacting Apple
as I thought there was non educational version available. If you want to see
a screen shot of a database send me an email.

Microsoft Cardfile

Posted: 29 Aug 2004 10:40 AM PDT

Do you still have the Win3.1 program for Cardfile?

If you run that program directly, can it open the CRD file from the floppy?

If so, then you need to set up a Windows File Association for the CRD files point to the
Cardfile program.

Upgrade v 6 -> v 8 problem ?

Posted: 28 Aug 2004 12:56 PM PDT

Found a workaround for anyone else experiencing this
problem. Can't guarantee it will work in all instances,
but I was able to get Wks 8 installed with this
alternative installation procedure.

Insert the Wks 8 install CD
Open Wdws Explorer
Navigate to your CD drive i.e. D:\
Navigate to folder--> D:\MSWORKS
Right click on file --> WORKS8.MSI
Choose --> *Install* from the pop-up choices

Wks 8 proceeded to install without the error dialogue box
described below. Good luck !

Migrating data

Posted: 27 Aug 2004 09:32 PM PDT

Here are the steps you should follow. The real trick is getting the two
computers to talk to each other (either via a network or connecting them
together directly using a crossover cable). If all else fails, there are a
couple other options: purchase an external harddrive to make the transfer or
remove the harddrive from the old computer and plug it in as an IDE slave to
the new computer and then copy the data...

1.. Do Windows Update on the XP machine - be sure to get any updates for
Files and Settings Transfer Wizard
2.. Setup the crossover cable
3.. Make sure the machines can talk to each other directly using the
crossover cable as a network
4.. Make sure Firewall is turned off on the crossover cable connect on
both sides
5.. Run Files & Settings Transfer Wizard on the XP machine
1.. Going through the Wizard you'll be able to make a disk for the other
machine (don't use the Windows XP CD to run the wizard on the other machine)
2.. Leave the Wizard running on the Windows XP box and go to the other
machine (when instructed)
6.. Run Files & Settings Transfer Wizard on the old PC
1.. As you go through the Wizard, the LAN option should be enabled an
selected
2.. If it isn't - don't sweat it, just store it to a local folder and
then manually copy it over later.
Hope this helps

Thomas

Printing Works 2000 Calendar

Posted: 26 Aug 2004 08:37 AM PDT

Hi ZionUMC,

Perhaps these help:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281429
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314517
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=265990

This problem was resolved in Works 7, where a new version of
the Calendar program was included.

Works 8 also has a newer version of Works Calendar.

Posted: 25 Aug 2004 09:28 PM PDT

PowerPoint,Excel, and Word are all part of Office
Word is also part of the Works Suite

Check Add/Remove programs control panel to see if the programs are still
listed?
Try reinstalling the programs from the Office or Works CD's

opening read-only database file

Posted: 24 Aug 2004 07:40 PM PDT

Thank you; I did copy and rename the file as well as remove
all checkmarks in the properties dialog box. In the copy,
the archive file was the one that had the checkmark. Does
that make a difference in how it should be handled?

Thanks.

Synchronising Works Calendar

I've tried their website to no avail.

I was wondering if there was any way of doing it through
Works or if there was any third party software available?
