Outline Numbering Will Not Work - Word 2013

Posted: 01 Feb 2015 02:15 PM PST

In Word 2003, I clicked "outline numbering," and all I had to do to change levels is hit "indent;" In 2013, the levels will not change, i.e., I get 1), 2), 3), instead of 1), a), i), or whatever the list is supposed to have.

CORRECTION: Word 2013 doesn't like my macros, which simply tell it to indent or de-indent, using f12 and f11; I simply recorded the macro, like I have a dozen times, and it doesn't work in my lists.

No SQL data records coming through to Word in merge feature

Word is missing something (or some things?)

Posted: 01 Feb 2015 09:09 AM PST

I have Office 365 and have noticed while that something is missing that I need -

In Word, References Tab, Citations & Bibliography, Style --

The MLA style is missing completely. Maybe some other things I will need are missing also, but I haven't gotten far enough to find out because w/o MLA style, I can't do my assigned paper.

How do I get MLA into Word?

Thanks,

Kathy

WORD 2010 sometimes forces save as new document

Posted: 01 Feb 2015 08:55 AM PST

WORD 2010 sometimes forces me to save as new doc when I add text to an existing doc.

When this happens, I copy the existing document with my changes and rename the document by adding a 2 to the existing document name, save it

then delete the original document rename the new document by deleting the number 2 from the name.

This should not be happening, how do I prevent it from happening in the future?

I have a PC Windows 8

My office Document is Completely Cluttered with horizontal lines.

Posted: 01 Feb 2015 08:27 AM PST

Some time back while making a Document I put down a horizontal line in order to make a page break not knowing it could repeat itself over and over again do to formatting. I figured out how to format it so that it won't keep repeating but now I have a huge document full of horizontal lines. Every time I try to delete one a new line pops up. I read that the formatting has put a horizontal line under all my paragraphs they are just invisible. If that is case then the document is to long for me to reasonably delete every single line for every single paragraph. I found a third party application called Kutools on the website Extend Office that claims to have an app that can delete all horizontal lines within a document. This sounds like just what I need to fix my problem but I am not sure this third party site is on the level. Is there a way within the existing word 2013 processor that I can delete all the Horizontal lines without affecting the rest of the document? And if not is this Kutools a safe third party app? This problem has plagued me for a while now and I hope to find a solution. Thanks in advance.

Word Table of Contents Question

Posted: 01 Feb 2015 05:44 AM PST

Hi,

I mark several headings with Heading 1 styles so they will appear in an automatic table of contents.

I then go to one of the headings in my document that I marked with Heading 1 style and then also format it as bold and yellow.

However when I generate an automatic Table of Contents, the heading that I added bold and yellow to, appears in the table as bold and yellow.  But I don't want it to appear as bold and yellow in the table of contents.   I want it to look like the other entries in the table of contents.

How can I do that?  thank you very much

Craig

Removing stubborn solid horizontal lines from Word document

Posted: 01 Feb 2015 05:11 AM PST

I have placed a number of lines in a Word document to break it into sections.

I did this by holding down shift on the keyboard and hitting the underline key. I would now like to delete o of these lines, both of which, for some reason I do not understand, are bolder than the other lines on the page.

You would have thought that it would have been  simple enough, but clicking at the end of the line and  pressing "Delete" just deletes adjacent text rather than the itself. I do not see to be able to select the lines, either, to delete them.

I presumably must have done something to cause them to be so entrenched, but can anyone please suggest how I can delete them?

Available fonts for Complex Scripts in Microsoft Word Paragraph style

Posted: 31 Jan 2015 04:26 PM PST

An interesting feature of Microsoft Word when writing documents which include Left-to-Right and Right-to-Left scripts (for example, Latin characters and Hebrew characters) in the same paragraph, is that you can create a paragraph style which allows you to change automatically the font from Left-to-Right to Right-to-Left or viceversa when changing the Windows Keyboard: Modify the Paragraph Style, click on the Format button and then use the text boxes Latin script and Complex script.

The problem I have is that I cannot choose any Hebrew font for the Complex script. For example, the excellent SBL Hebrew font which I have installed in my Windows 7 does not appear on the list of available fonts for Complex Script. What can I do in order to make this font or other Right-to-Left fonts appear on the list?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Missing Themes in Office 2013

Posted: 31 Jan 2015 04:13 PM PST

Hello,

I am a college student in the United States and I purchased a version of Office 2013 to go with my new Windows 8.1 laptop from the university bookstore. While everything has worked great for the past 6 months or so, I am now taking a SAM 2013 course that requires I have Office 2013 and all themes installed. The problem is - I don't. For some reason, I only have ten. This is in both Word and PowerPoint.

While this ordinarily wouldn't be a problem for me, I have to have specific themes installed to do the course. I'm not sure if any of my fellow students who bought Office 2013 from the bookstore have the same problem or not. I've yet to find a definite solution anywhere, or someplace to download these, so I'm just posting this question in the hopes that someone at Microsoft will get on this and resolve it quickly.

Additional information:

I've checked for updates, and Office 2013 is up-to-date.

My computer is also up-to-date.

I don't have any malware present on my computer.

I have plenty of hard drive space and RAM is not an issue.

All Office programs otherwise work the way they're supposed to.

I posted this under the Office Topic of "Microsoft Office Word" because I need the theme for Word right now.

Thank you,

Matthew Baker

is mtools the only way to change label of a fat partition?

another little question: I googled for permission issues with ext3
partitions and found out that the solution is calling 'sudo chown -R

Microsoft word template broken if edited with German instead of English WORD 2010

Posted: 31 Jan 2015 09:39 AM PST

Hello,

I wanted to use the template on the following website:

https://neuraldischarge.wordpress.com/2013/11/05/the-only-phdmasters-thesis-template-for-word-you-will-ever-need/

Unfortunately, it only works with an English version of Word 2010. When using word 2010 with German as interface language, several aspects of template do not work anymore as intended. First, the table of contents is not compiled correctly anymore. Second, headers and footers do not display automatically the document title or chapter title respectively.

I would be grateful for suggestion of how to fix these bugs. Thanks!

Disappearing document in Word 2010

Posted: 31 Jan 2015 09:00 AM PST

My husband has a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop with a usb keyboard and uses Word 2010.  Periodically when he is using Word, the text starts disappearing--it quickly backspaces through the text he has input.  It does not appear to happen when he is using the laptop keyboard.  It does still happen when he tried a different keyboard.  We're trying plugging the keyboard directly into his computer so not sure if the problem will persist.  Any ideas why this might be happening?

Thanks

Word 2013 paragraph.words enumeration in infinite loop.

Posted: 31 Jan 2015 03:02 AM PST

I have discovered that under some circumstances, using Word 2013 under Windows 8.1,  enumerating words in a paragraph goes into an infinite loop after the Unicode 0330 character (and possibly other diacritics).  Word 2007 does not display the same problem.  Has anyone else seen this? I can provide a small file that shows the problem.  Here is some code to demonstrate it.

Public Sub ListWords()
    Dim theStory As Range
    For Each theStory In ActiveDocument.StoryRanges
        Dim theParagraph As Paragraph
        For Each theParagraph In theStory.Paragraphs
Dim theWord As Range, WordCounter As Integer
            WordCounter = 0
            For Each theWord In theParagraph.Range.Words
                WordCounter = WordCounter + 1
                If WordCounter > theParagraph.Range.Words.Count Then
'MsgBox "The paragraph has a problem", vbCritical
                    Debug.Print WordCounter - 1 & vbTab & theParagraph.Range.Text
                    Debug.Print "Problem after [" & theParagraph.Range.Words(WordCounter - 2).Text & "]"
                    Exit For
                End If
            Next
        Next
    Next
    MsgBox "Finished Processing", vbOKOnly, "Finished"

End Sub

Bullet Hanging Indent Adjacent to Text Box

Posted: 30 Jan 2015 05:59 PM PST

Hi there - I'm struggling in Word 2013 with a hanging bulleted list adjacent to a text box.

I have a text box about 2 inches wide and 9 inches long flush with the left side of the page. The text wrapping for the box is set to square, distance from text 0" top and bottom, 0.13" left and right. The main text of my report is to the right and outside of the text box. I've set up a style called bullet1 that I use throughout the document. The Style settings for bullet1 are indentation: 0", hanging: 0.25", left tab stop: 0.25".

Where I use the bulleted list adjacent to the text box, I cannot get the second line to indent. I've right clicked on the bullet at the Adjust List Indents and have the following settings: Text Indent 0.25", Follow number with Tab character, and add tab stop at 0.25."

I have bullet lists elsewhere in the document where there are no text boxes, and the second line indents perfectly. If I copy/paste those same bullets next to the text box, the second line loses the indentation.

There are no section breaks in my document.

Thanks in advance for your help

How to get a CRM 3.0 beta trial version? UK.

Posted: 09 Sep 2005 01:15 AM PDT

The beta started a very long time ago. They have progressed through the
Alpha version to TAP1, TAP2, and just this week TAP3. Customizations made in
TAP3 will be exportable to future releases of MSCRM (Say RTM in Q4'05 and GA
Q1'06). So my belief is that the product is ready to roll.

The product will be made available to partners the first week of October to
demo and load in "TEST" environments for customers to begin retrofitting
customizations, etc. This early access code is not upgradable to RTM so
production usage is not supported however, like I said the customizations are
transportable.

Look for good things. Very nice release. They have listened to their
partners and customers.

Best of luck.

Table Size Limitations

Posted: 08 Sep 2005 01:41 AM PDT

All text in MSCRM is unicode, that is why each character takes two bytes.
MSCRM 1.2 puts all custom fields directly into the *Base table, there is no
extension table. This will be fixed in 3.0.
In addition, MSCRM 1.2 uses tion for SFO, which adds some overhead to
each table, and this further reduces the available row size below the SQL
Server 8K limit.

Email with virus attachment

Thanks for your reply. In our case, a user with real address can send
an attachment with virus, by mistake, and we wanted to inform user
that he/she is spreading virus unknowingly. From your reply, it looks
like that handling of virus email can be configured/customized, so
there is no set standard in the SMTP protocol or anything to always
bounce back to sender. I will check with our admins again.

Most current AV will allow you to configure how virus alerts should be
handled.
Like I said, no emails to sender or recipient. Admin only if you wish.

AD Mailbox store details incorrect - can't override? (Exchange 2003)

And I've solved it. There were a few old SystemMailbox users still associated
with the old server. Once I'd deleted them (the users) from AD - and finished
reassociating the orphaned mailboxes with users - I could purge the final
mailboxes in ESM. Then, finally, the phantom server in ESM could be deleted.
With that done, all the incorrect queues disappeared.

Frustratingly, in the process of doing this, outgoing emails stopped outgoing.
Thankfully, it was a poorly timed failure at the ISP, and not a config problem
I'd introduced!

Exchange / Outlook Web Access - Sent Items

Posted: 05 Aug 2008 12:54 AM PDT

The emails will reside in Outlook Web Access for days after they have been
sent, and therefore not (eventually) in the Outlook 'Sent Items' folder as
you suggest, unless they are manually deleted or moved for archiving etc.
Manual intervention is required.

New Outlook user doesn't work

Glad it is sorted.

I presume you turned the old Server off without uninstalling Exchange. If
you can turn it back on and do that it would be a good idea.

Follow this if it's the first Exchange Server in your Org

Vista + Outlook 2007 + VPN = DOES NOT WORK! PLEASE HELP!

Posted: 15 Jul 2008 05:43 PM PDT

Answer - Yes, I can ping exchange server by FQDN.

And also more info:

Sorry, I forget to specify it in a original question:

1) the "ping exsrvxx" command works fine;
2) the "ping exsrvxx.our-domains.com" command works fine;
3) the "ping -a exchange_IP" command works fine (back resolve);
4) Today I remember I had old laptop with WinXP + Office 2007, I just
started it and tested the case - it works fine - Outlook 2007 on WinXP works
fine; so, it looks like the propblem is exactly in the link - Vista + Outlook
2007.

Regarding the "ping":
Of course it is not too obvious from the original question, but as you could
see - I mentioned TcpView utility in a question - it reported that connection
to epmap port on exchnage server was established, so it was able to find
server and create connection but then it fail by some reason.

Also I already tiried following things:

a) recommendations in "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913843" -
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\O utlook\RPC\[DefConnectOpts]=0;

b) recommendations in "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935400/" - "netsh int
tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable" and "netsh int tcp set global
chimney=disable";

Still having the same problem. :-\

WHAT ALSO I CAN DO TO MAKE IT WORKING?
ANY IDEAS?

Can we use /PAE /3GB /USERVA switches together on an exchange serv

Posted: 10 Jul 2008 02:53 PM PDT

Check with your hardware vendor. Certain hardware, PCI Express cards for
example, map a memory region. It's not uncommon to see systems with a few
such cards report 3.25 or 3.5 GB. See if your vendor has updated drivers to
reduce the window. Enabling PAE (if your motherboard supports remapping
stuff) is a completely cosmetic thing on an exchange server. So it
reconizes and reports the memory above the 4GB line which Exchange 2003
cannot use.

Rafavic,

Again, you need one Consultant! :) For Exchange 2007 is easy if you use
System Center Capacity Planner 2007, but to Exchange 2003 I don’t know one
tool to solve your questions without one good assessement.

Anyway, send me one mail for I discuss more this subjects with you.
