Cannot forward my messages to exchange e-mail !!!

Posted: 11 Feb 2006 11:56 PM PST

Dear, I do not like to forwrd my messages as regular,
I mean when I like to send or forward a messege from my POP3 mail to the
exchange one.

Outllok 2002 can be used to send a messege using the default e-mail, if it
is failed, it will automatically use the other configured e-mail (which in
my case the exchange mail that will send properly) is this feature can be
enabled in outook 2003?

Exactly. Just dump it to a PST file.
Then on computer, delete the old Outlook profile and create a new one, just

Urgent - Manage Two Domains? Make my Server backup server?

Posted: 08 Feb 2006 11:45 PM PST

>If you are talking about sharing SMTP address space, read this. . .

That's not applicable given the OP's intended implementation. The
address space isn't shared, because the MX does not receive any
messages back from the mailbox server. The flow is unidirectional,
and it's thus acceptable for Exchange to consider itself the sole
authority for each domain.

Hi,

Can you access OWA internally using servername/exchange and

Please explain exactly what works from the LAN.

Can't open OWA from within the network

Posted: 08 Feb 2006 11:35 AM PST

What you've done is hijacked your "real, public" domain. But that's not
a problem. For branding purposes I like to use my real public domain
for my AD domain too. It causes less confusion for the users,
especially in a large organization. Peter was right it is a DNS issue
but it's pretty easy to fix. You can use the CNAME record or you can
create an A record for "mail" within your mydomain.com zone. Just make
the IP address the actual private address of the OWA server. So people
accessing OWA from the inside will hit that and people accessing from
the outside will hit whatever you've got in public DNS

Definition of odd address: one that doesn't have a "domain.org" or

Definition of generic: pick a valid username, any valid username.

I have sent mail to the address in question from my personal account and

Tracking of NDRs on Exchange Server 2003

Posted: 08 Feb 2006 12:40 AM PST

Thanks for the reply!

For the following scenario,

I have 2 different Administrative Groups, each with its own EVS

AG1
- Servers
- <server1>
- Protocols
- SMTP
- Default SMTP Virtual Server

AG2
- Servers
- <server2>
- Protocols
- SMTP
- Default SMTP Virtual Server

Question 1
If a user in server1 sends to a user in server2 and receives a NDR,
where is the NDR generated? server1 or server2?

Question 2
If I enabled the "send copies of NDR" setting only on server1, and a
user in server1 sends to a user in server2 and receives a NDR, would
the specified email address in the "send copies of NDR" setting also
receive the NDR?

Thanks!

Just seems rather stupid that Outlook and Exchange allow you to say that the
folder will be a pulic folder containing tasks and then removes the normal
task functionality from it. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts and if anyone
does happen to know for sure on this I would appreciate it! Thanks!

Mark,
Thanks for the help. I had set up the account like your articles indicated.
My problem was I focused too much on Exchange. We are in the middle of

server,
but did nothing on the MDaemon side. Once I woke up and changed the

Thanks again

dismounting store from a command line

Posted: 07 Feb 2006 05:45 AM PST

This seems like a rather risky thing to do on blind faith and really should
be something done in person that you can see the results of before mounting
the file again. After hours and weekends would really be best.

That being said, the only way to do it from a command line is with CDOEXM;
vbscript seems like the most likely method to get at it.

This document talks about CDOEXM:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/2000/maintain/ex2kwsh.mspx

Sample 9, line 307 deals with the dismounting. HOWEVER, this code iterates
through all the stores so you'll need to modify it to dismount only the
store(s) you want to. If you let this run and uncomment the Dismount method,
it will dismount all your stores.

inetinfo consumes too much CPU time

Posted: 05 Feb 2006 12:17 AM PST

Hi,
At first, thanks for your reply.
Queue is "Messages waiting to be routed" (protocol:SMTP and
source: Default SMTP Virtual Server). When I looked at the Message
Tacking Center, I saw that the time between "Cathegorized and queued to be
routed" and "queued for local delivery" is more than 15-20 minutes.

System was working very well untill the time before 1 month.
Furthermore we didn't installed any new softwares on server also.
And sometimes it works well after restart and the process inetinfo.exe
doesn't use more CPU time, it uses 2-5 percent of CPU. I don't want
to install SP2 nowadays because of risk. Moreover it has already been working.

I looked for an error in the event viewer, but couldn't find anything. What
should I do in this case? I think that somebody should have
experienced this issue.
Thanks for all.

Word 2007 Template Download Errors

How do I automate text and images input into multiple word templates

Posted: 08 Feb 2014 01:11 PM PST

I am an employment consultant and regularly produce a number of different documents (based on word templates) for different tasks and procedures for a large number of employers and employees.

Currently I open a .dotx template, insert the company name and the company logo and then save the template as a .docx in a different folder.

This procedure is repeated a number of times on a number of different templates, depending on client requirements, and then I print each one individually as the output ranges from A4 to A5 and Landscape to Portrait

Is there any way I can automate the process (using word, excel or a third party software program) ie:

1.       nominate the templates to be populated

2.       upload the relevant text and images into all templates simultaneously

3.       save all documents to a nominated folder and

4.       when instructed - print the nominated documents in the quantities required

Your help would be appreciated

Creating ordered lists with specific spacing

Posted: 08 Feb 2014 10:56 AM PST

I am trying to create ordered lists with specific spacing.  I have tried all of the option I can think of and cannot make it work like I want.

Specifically - I want it to look like this

1.  Item one

2.  Item two

3.  Item three is longer and spans two lines
I want it to be single spaced.

4.  Item four

5.  Item five is also longer and spans two lines
I want it to be single spaced.

When I use the paragraph to make the whole thing 1.5 times or double. - it separates 3. and 5. too.  when one of the items spans multiple lines, I want that item to be single spaced.  I have tried the before and after, tried changing spacing to single for the ones I want single spaced - but no matter where I put the cursor - it still make s the next item single spaced too.  So I end up with

1.  Item one

2.  Item two

3.  Item three is longer and spans two lines
I want it to be single spaced.
4.  Item four
5.  Item five is also longer and spans two lines
I want it to be single spaced.

Can you help?

normal.dot from 2003 to 2010 will not accept

The office I work in has just changed from Word 2003 to Word 2010 and I successfully (after the information from the Microsoft Communities I was kindly given) managed to get the macros and autotext into the 2010 normal.dot by dropping the 2003 version into the folder and renaming the 2010 normal.dot.  I spent all of today making tabs on the ribbon and making a lot of the autotext entries up to date with colour that we are now using.  When I dropped the new normal dot into the second new computer, doing the same thing, it would not recognise any of the tabs or any of the adjustments I had made (which had taken me all day)  I did not know whether to laugh or cry !!!  I deleted the normal.dot and put the new one in, renamed etc and nothing worked.  Does anyone know what has happened ?  Would be so grateful for some help please.

Word 2013 scrolling issue when typing at bottom of screen

Posted: 08 Feb 2014 07:28 AM PST

I had my screen in portrait mode (1080x1920) while I was typing, working in Web Mode at 87% on a document about two-and-a-half screens tall.
Whenever I typed at the bottom of the screen, the smoothscrolling would act up and decide I was scrolling in from somewhere off in space, animating the sudden transition to the bottom of the screen, making the text jump around in a particularly eye-bleeding fashion. I have isolated it to the smoothscrolling by disabling animation in controls and elements (System>System Properties>Advanced>Performance Options>Visual Effects), which turned off the smoothscrolling, whereupon the problem disappeared.

enlarging the font in equations & subscript

Posted: 08 Feb 2014 07:07 AM PST

I have just moved from Math type with Word 2003 to Word 2013 and the equation editor seems much worse.

I can't see how to make the overall equation larger.  When I insert it, it comes out really small.  I can make it a bit bigger by enlarging the font, but I don't seem to be able to just pull it out as I used to be able to do with math type.

Also, the subscript function doesn't work properly.

Ctrl + doesn't work within the equation editor, so I have to use the sub/super script function within the editor.  However, it adds two little squares and if I move the cursor back with the arrow key I can enter a subscript, but the other square remains between the letter and subscript.  Annoyingly, I can't cut and paste it into this or upload a Word doc.

The only way I can get a sensible subscript is if I use the function to put in x2 and then replace the x and the 2.  Tedious.  I never had this trouble with math type.

problem in opening word 97-2003 file in office 365 / Windows 8

"Next Page" section break switching to Continuous

Posted: 07 Feb 2014 08:39 PM PST

I have many sections within a document, I had been mixing them between Continuous and Next Page, but after finding I needed to use Next Page to make headings work the way I wanted, I switched all of mine to next page.

I have two sections (out of something like 20) that don't stay that way, though.  I switch them to Next Page, and use the Outline view to make sure I've deleted the Continuous.  I save.  I close.  I open it again, and they're continuous instead of next page.  I've tried this now 3 or 4 times and it always goes back to Continuous.

Any ideas?

multiple references to an endnote Word 2010

Posted: 07 Feb 2014 08:38 PM PST

I can create a list of references at the end of my document using the endnote function in word 2010.  When I delete a reference the list automatically gets renumbered and the reference numbers in the document are updated.  That's cool!   I can create multiple reference to an endnote in Word 2010 using the insert/link/cross reference function.   I then have multiple references numbers in the document body that refer to the same reference at the end of the document. However, if I then delete a reference in my reference list the the multiple endnote links are not updated, i.e. the link is now tied to the wrong reference.  How do I have multiple or repeated references in the document and have the ability to edit my reference list and have the whole document reference numbering updated correctly??

Blogging in Word: rename blog accounts

Posted: 07 Feb 2014 07:43 PM PST

How can you change the name that Word 2010 gives to blog accounts you register in Word?

I have registered 3 wordpress.com blogs and Word has given them the same name, with 1,2 afterwards to distinguish them. The name it has chosen is the name of another inactive and hidden Wordpress.com blog of mine. I cant see why this has happened as it is not the title of any of the blogs I have registered, and I don't know why it has given all three the same name. I have checked in Wordpress and these names do not appear in any of the settings for the particular blogs I have registered in Word.

Can I edit the name?

Why does my Word 2013 have different keyboard shortcuts from the ones in any manuals, help files or earlier versions?

Posted: 07 Feb 2014 01:02 PM PST

I've  been using Microsoft Word for decades now and I've gotten to know a lot of keyboard shortcuts because I like to work effeciently.

I now have Office 2013 on my new computer and I was shocked to see that some of the shortcuts had been changed. What is even more troublesome: The Office help file as well as various online forums keep telling me that the old shortcuts are still valid. However, they don't work anymore (but work fine on my Surface RT which should have some kind of Office 2013 as well).

I'm using the German version of MS Word. The screenshot lists a few of the changed shortcuts as well as the Quickinfo text I get (which tells me the new, working shortcut).

Could this have anything to do with my keyboard settings? I tried it with both "English US" and "German (Austria)".

I have a word document that includes links to pdfs on a shared folder, when I receive the document in e-mail and hover over the link, it is pointed to folder on my profile and not where the link originally was set to.

Link when created points to : \\Server\date\department\subfolder\subfolder\month folder\document.pdf

Link when cument is received : C:\documents and settings\username\local settings\...

Why would this happen and how can we prevent it so the Team Members can access the links.

Everyone involved has full access to the pdf location. This happens when you either save and send or send from document itself.

In a previous post, I mentioned that I want multiple sections in my document and I want the headings to automatically populate based on that.

My problem is that I want each section to have a title page that lacks those headings.

I'm using styleref for heading 1 and 2 to get the section header information there.  When I click on "Different first page", however, it doesn't remove that info.  When I try to manually remove it from the first page of the section, it disappears everywhere in the document.

Is that because I have "link to previous" on?  I need it, apparently, to make this info auto-populate across settings.
And if so... why would they do that to me? :)

Styleref field doesn't recognize character style in Word 2010

Posted: 07 Feb 2014 09:41 AM PST

I am trying to use a styleref field to display a partial paragraph formatted with a character style, as described in this article:
In the example section, it clearly indicates that the styleref field should pick up a portion of a paragraph formatted with a character style. But when I try it, I always get the error message "Error! No text of specified style in document." If I apply the style to an entire paragraph, it works fine.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug in Word 2010? Is there another way I can make this work?

Here is the text from my test document:

This is a quote: Create a character style

The text quoted above is: Error! No text of specified style in document.

The italic text is formatted with the Quote style.

The field code that produces the error message is: { STYLEREF  Quote  \* MERGEFORMAT }

Multple versions of Office

Posted: 07 Feb 2014 07:29 AM PST

I can't open Office 2013 Word and noticed I have Office 12 and Office 15 on my PC.  They are in multiple files as well.  Both are in "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" -not sure if this is an issue.  I'm able to open Excel and One Note and Power Point but not Word.

I've looked at other solutions and don't appear to have any apps that might effect Word and still can't open it.

Is there a better way to handle titles in headers without removing "link to previous"?

Posted: 07 Feb 2014 06:08 AM PST

So I have a Word 2010 document that is broken up into sections (sometimes using the new page section break, sometimes using continuous section break).

Here's a little version of the layout (with S1, S2, S3, and so on indicating section breaks):

So, here's how it's laid out:
S1: Book Title Page
S2: Table of Contents (first page has the Table of Contents title, so I don't need the header.  I use Different First Page (D1P) here).
S3: Category One.
S4: Cat 1, Chapter 1
S5: Cat 1, Chapter 2
S6: Cat 1, Chapter 3
S7: Category Two.
S8: Cat 2, Chapter 1
etc.

Now, there's many more chapters and categories (I'd call them sections, but didn't want anyone to get confused where my section breaks are) but let's not get into that at the moment.  To get my Table of Contents laid out properly, I put the titles for each category as Heading 1 style, the titles for each chapter as Heading 2 style, and then I use H3 and H4 for some important things within those chapters.

I have continuous pagination, although obviously the Title Page and ToC are using lowercase roman numerals and the rest are arabic numerals.

So here are the problems:
#1: I'd like to add book title, category title (H1), and chapter title (H2) to every chapter in the page header.  I know I can insert cross-references, but it doesn't automatically change them for different sections (e.g., I can't put it in once in the ToC and have it automatically figure out that the H2 of Cat 1 Chap 1 is the title for that section).  Am I going to have to manually cut and paste into every section?  I *hate* not having rote things automated, so I might just tell my boss it can't be done :)

#2: If I do that the manual way, is there any way to maintain continuous pagination (since I have to take OFF "Link to Previous", and it affects the entire page instead of just the header or footer I'm working with, to make the headers change for each new title currently unless there is an automatic way to populate that) without having to manually adjust the pages?  That'd suck for when I insert more sections later, and, again, automation.

Thank you,

images jump to another page when moved or adjusted.

Posted: 06 Feb 2014 11:36 PM PST

I am attempting to add a picture to text in a Word 2007 document. I get the image added to the page, but when I go to adjust the images position, it jumps to another page. I cannot move it to the location I want. After many, many attempts, I finally got the picture in the location I wanted. Then when I tried to correct the text wrapping, the image jumped to another page. I cannot get images to be stable within the document.

how to print without the 'choose an item' from the Drop Down Box

Posted: 06 Feb 2014 08:36 PM PST

Hi

I've recently made drop down boxes on a document for the first time ever and was wondering if there was a way to print the page so it doesn't print out the 'choose an item' on the drop down fields if the space was left unfilled. so essentially it will print blank so the form can be hand written on if need be

Moving Cursor to the End of the a Named Bookmark

Posted: 06 Feb 2014 06:27 PM PST

Using VBA, I need to move the cursor to the end of a named bookmark and then .typetext immediately to the right (outside) of the bookmark.

(When I go to the bookmark, VBA takes me to the beginning of the bookmark, which is not what I want to do.)

How is that done?

Everything is working and appointments are displaying on OPEN of WORKS as
expected. I will give this a little time and hopefully they will continue to
display as they should. And again all of your help is most appreciated.
This was really frustrating and is nice to have it resolved.

Word to Works Converter

Hi Evie,

You might try using Free OpenOffice.

http://www.openoffice.org/

OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an
open-source project. Compatible with all other major office suites, the
product is free to download, use, and distribute.

I had the same problem going from web tv to a 2007 HP laptop. Had a fellow

Opening Word 200 Docs in Works 8.5

Ken,

Thanks very much. I downloaded the patches. While they didn't help
directly, they helped me figure out that some of the files I am trying to
open are actually Word 6.0 (95) files - not compatible with Works. I need to
re-save them as Word 2000 files.

Thanks for your help!

Works 8 dictionary problem

Re: How would I restore the computer like that

For information about Restore, click Start on the Desktop, on it's menu
choose Help, search for Restore.

Basically, click Start on the Desktop, select Programs, on it's menu select
Accessories, on it's menu select System Tools, on it's menu choose System
Restore.

The rest should be self explanatory.

Re: can I keep Norton?

Only if you want to have continuing problems with your computer, your
choice. So far you only notice a problem with Works, there will be others.

Re: Is there a way to redownload the dictionary documents or something?

Not sure if there is a repair feature in your version of Works.

Go to Control Panel, choose Add/Remove programs, choose Microsoft Works,
does it offer a selection to Repair?

If that doesn't work.

Assuming you have your Works installation disk.

Completely remove Works from your computer using cleanup utilities then
reinstall using a clean boot.

Example of how to do this can be found at...

Re: I installed Norton

OUCH.....

Norton is not friendly with Microsoft programs, for that matter, some tell
me neither are McAfee and Trend.

The first thing I would try is to Restore the computer to a time prior to
Norton install.

Ken
PS:

When I tried to get rid of Norton from my computer, using uninstall doesn't
get all it's hooks out of the system, one has to go to their web site and
get a removal tool. Suspect this would be the same for McAfee and Trend.

For virus protection I use AVG free, some recommend Avast, (freeware), or
NOD32, (not free).

In either case, when installing one of these programs, choose custom install
and opt out of email scanning. If the resident shield (or what ever it's
called) doesn't find the virus neither will email scanning. Email scanning
can cause corruption in your email program if you are using a Microsoft
email program like Outlook Express.
