I have to rant a little bit... Posted: 07 Jun 2005 09:38 AM PDT All we want to do is this. All of the product forecasting reports work against Opportunity Product. So if we want to know forecasted revenue by product we need to put in Opportunity Products. Opp Products is where I feel they should go as well. Our customer is a software/services firm and they don't have fixed prices. When looking into opp products all you can edit is the quantity. You CANNOT change the price-per-unit, or the baseamount. They are looked up in the background from the PriceList table. All I want is this: On opp products, I want to enter the price-per-unit and quantity. The system can calculate the amount total for me. Then it would update the amount of the opportunity. I don't want to force my customer to create a quote when it is way to much overkill for them. Unable to register CRM Security Service Posted: 07 Jun 2005 08:52 AM PDT Uninstall CRM fully, following the Installation Guide for uninstallation Then add the CRM and SQL server AD accounts, and the service accounts (where not Local System) to the Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access Group, and reboot the servers, BEFORE installation. This requirement is spelt out clearly in the MSCRM Installation Guide. (except for the reboot - thats my idea) "Andrea Cogliati" <com> wrote in message news:BECC8F1B.39C80%com... |

Connection error during data migration Posted: 06 Jun 2005 11:36 PM PDT The CRM Server is installled in the same machine as SQL Server. Basically, the setup topology is as below: i) SQL Server is already up and running before CRM installation. ii) MSCRM is installed. iii) Using Web Application, I have created the necessary user with roles and licenses. This means that the CRM database in the SQL server is working fine right. iv) Then I install the CRM Data Migration software. v) Run the InitializationTool.exe and transfer data using Data Transformation in Enterprise Manager. vi) Then I run the MigrationTool.exe and the error occurs. FYI, I've tested this data migration on a test server previously and the MigrationTool.exe can be run successfully. The difference between these 2 servers is that they are under different domain. Thanks. "Brian W" wrote: |
MSCRM Workflow Service Posted: 06 Jun 2005 11:22 PM PDT I couldn't really say if it's related, nothing to indicate that it is though. One thing I'm curious about, the error you posted was from the user Sincere Tjandra, is this the user that has been testing or the user you are using? If you go to the Workplace, create a new email and send it to Sincere Tjandra, does it send ok? Dan "Carrie" wrote: |
Urgent: CRM Crashing Posted: 06 Jun 2005 02:39 PM PDT Biz, Sneaking suspicion here.. HOW did you update the relationship between contacts and accounts? Did you use the CRM UI, or did you do a back-door SQL query? If the latter... I hope you have a backup... And what is the "CRM Entry module"? You can only use the API or the GUI or an approved tool like Scribe to modify the data in CRM. NEVER update CRM data directly! (I have over a decade of everyday T-SQL use, and I can tell you from painful experience with CRM 1.0, you WILL mess up the database if you do any significant data updates directly to SQL... Just say no... HTH, Dave ------------------------------------------------- David L. Carr, President Visionary Software Consulting, Inc. Lead Modify Date not changing for all actions. Posted: 06 Jun 2005 01:40 PM PDT Eric (and Brian, and Matt), Several users feel the same way you do Matt - if they change anything associated with a lead, then that lead should appear "modified". There is no easy way to do this in the core CRM product. c360's Activity Summary can show you this information today, although it requires another click or few to get there. Activity Summary is supposed to be part of the new CRM product, as well. However, there is still no easy way to, for example, get a list of the Leads that have had NO activity (no phone calls, no tasks, no changes to the data). And that's why we're adding that functionality to our VAST product. At the WWPC in July, we'll be demoing our new "VAST Insights" product that utilizes the CRM changes VAST captures to give users 'one-click' access to their historical CRM data. With VAST Insights, users will be able to see, for example: - Leads with no activity in (the time period they choose) - Leads WITH activity (this week, month, etc.) - Opportunities that were pushed out (estimated close date was increased, again, during a user-specified time period). Please send me an email or give me a ring if you'd like to discuss further. HTH! Dave ------------------------------------------------- David L. Carr, President Visionary Software Consulting, Inc. access privilege to send bulk email Posted: 06 Jun 2005 01:15 PM PDT Hi - This was a post from another newsgroup - It worked for me and I've heard others have used it successfully. BTW on another topic, be aware that a known bug is that the 'send direct email' function ignores the 'do not email' settings. this could lead to inadvertant spam if users assume that users who have 'do not email' set won't receive bulk mail. Good Luck - Scott Sewell I was having exactly the same problem - only Domain Admins could send Direct E-Mail. Looking in the event log on the server you have the CRM Exchange Connector installed, you are probably seeing an event from DCOM with event ID 10016 which tells you that the user does not have "Local Activation" rights for a particular object. To fix this, load up the "Component Services" Admin Tool, and expand out the tree "Component Services" --> "Computers" --> "My Computer" --> "DCOM Config". Right-Click "CrmBulkMailService" and select "Properties." Go to the "Security" tab, and then select "Customise" under "Launch and Activation Permissions". Click "Edit", and set permissions as needed - simplest way is to make a Global Group called "CRM Users" on your DC, add all CRM users to it, and grant it Local Launch and Local Activate permissions. Once you've done that, your Direct E-Mail should work - it worked here... -- Regards, Mike Insch "manesco" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... |
vpn access & host headers Posted: 06 Jun 2005 11:40 AM PDT Rodger, If your VPN connection is functioning correctly then when you initiate a vpn connection you are virtually in the network! This means that you have an IP or virtual IP on the same subnet of the office network (if you are not sure how to test this type "cmd" into the run command and then type "ipconfig /all" and this will tell you your IP addresses). If this is the case then, the host headers (if working internally) will function the same as when you are in the office when you have connected your vpn. Is your Router the VPN unit? if so then it should not need to route any traffic if you will have network access anyway! But if you are using the external IP eg http://61.0.0.0 (port 80 by default unless other specified) to access from the web then yes your router will need to pass port 80 traffic to your server IP using NAT policies or whatever address translation your router uses. Host headers are not required if accessing the crm from the web. Regards, Nathan "Roger" wrote: |

connecting to CRM data Posted: 06 Jun 2005 05:06 AM PDT On Mon, 6 Jun 2005 06:35:12 -0700, "java.equals(cool)" <microsoft.com> wrote: As long as you are only reading data from CRM or updating existing items there is no problem with using conventional SQL. It also means that you have a much wider choice of language in which to implement your solution. If you want to create objects in CRM then many objects include a 'security descriptor' which is not sufficiently doented to allow you to create it outside of their API so the SDK may be a better bet. |
