Wrestling Part Time Resources with MS Project 2003

Hi Dougal,

Correct I do not know but DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED.
I do not like to enter percent complete.
I enter actual work and check the accuracy of remaining work.
Why make the division yourself?
The most precise way is to enter actual work timephased (Insert the actual
work row in task Usage or Resource Usage View)
Hope this helps,

Many thanks. I see a few more macros on your site that will help me.

Cheers,

No...I do not have an administrative project set up...I should note that if I
use the custom filter on the 'current' view, the future tasks are excluded...

tools menu / options / calculation tab.
My point about current date is that it won't change until the next day. That
might not be noticeable.
Even so I'd stick to project status date if I were you.

any way to highlight every other row in a project.

Chuck,
You're welcome.

To see all the options for the Font Method, open the VB Editor and hit
the "Object Browser"icon or select it from the View menu. When the
object browser appars, in the upper selection box on the far upper left,
select "MSProject". In the selection box immediately below it, type in
"font". Then hit the binocular icon. The Search Results will list
several "finds" with the first one already selected. Hit the question
mark (Help) icon. The complete VB syntax for the Font Method will appear.

Hope this helps.

why are tasks and work duplicated in task usage report?

Posted: 19 Oct 2005 02:46 PM PDT

Hi eng master,

Are the tasks duplicated on the Resource Usage view? Or the Task Usage view?
Or both?

If you are seeing duplicated task names (actually they are assignments) on
the Resource Usage view and there are multiple resources working on tasks,
this is expected. The assignment (represented by the name of the task
indented under the Resource's name) shows for each resource who is assigned
to the task.

Are you using a resource pool file for your resources? I have frequently
seen assignments repeated in the Resource Usage view when a resource pool
file is used and someone renames (through File > Save As) one of the
projects that is connected to the pool file. The resource pool file then
maintains the connection to *both* project files.

You may want to add the [Project] field to the task usage view to view the
name of the project that the duplicate tasks are coming from. Are they the
*exact* same project name?

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
Julie
