Prior to setting up this system I had run into into the "RSS" network issue
on another server. I had disabled RSS on this server to get it to work, but
again that was several months ago.

One thing I did see though. When I was making the other changes the
Exchange BPA listed, I had copied the boot.ini from one of our other Exchange
boxes. The only difference is that the one I copied from had the "/NOPAE"
switch. I've removed it from this boot.ini, but it wasn't active at the time
of the first bluescreen so I don't see how it could be the source of the
problem.

This weekend I was planning on doing a driver update and all Windows
"critical" patches, hopefully that will take care of it.

Well I guess this answers part of the question. What I mean though is two
different Active Directory domains sharing one Exchange server.? The
allowing in of different SMTP I know can be done but since Exchange uses ADUC
for security I was not sure how it would handle or even allow users from a
different active directory domain to be on the server.

Thank you. Can I use the version 3.71 of Exmerge on an Exchange 2000 SP3
with post SP3 rollup on it? I go to the properties of the exmerge.exe file
and it shows version 6.0. Am I missing something? Because the article that
you referenced states that you must use version 3.71.

When I run the find command I come up empty. But when I open the .pst for
my mailbox I can see the test message that I sent to myself to test if the
Exmerge was working. So something is not working right.

Bump up diagnostics logging on mchangetransport and watch the application
event log.
You can also capture packets to see if all the MX records are being
returned.

Actually, (at least with Exchange 2003), there is another option for
Blackberry use without getting a complete Blackberry server component. They
make a utility that can be loaded on the users regular office computer,
(that must remain turned on), that will "push" Exchange emails out to the
Blackberry as they arrive at the computer. While this will allow instant
access to emails, (like direct push with WM 5 or 6), the user still has to
physically connect the Blackberry to his computer to synchronize contacts,
etc.

I have spent 4 hours searching and experimenting with how to solve this and cannot find a solution anywhere.  In Office 2007 I simply want to display files in libraries "Arrange by" in order of date modified with details, but without the grouping headings that read "yesterday" earlier this month" or "earlier this week".  This is useless to me and takes up so much screen space.  In Office 2003 programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) this was simple.  I would just select "details" and "date modified" and it would show exactly what I wanted.   When I open Word, or Powerpoint and I click on open files, and it opens "Document Libraries" I want to see files listed in order of recent date modified but without the grouping headings.  Thank you to anyone who can help with this.

Track Changes function thinks I'm two people

I am a copyeditor, which means I use the track changes function all the time. Since I switched to Word 2013 I've had a problem with some documents whereby after I close the document and open it again, the track changes function treats me as a new user. The problem with this is that I often go over any given bit of text several times, potentially making new changes each time, and when the system treats me as a new user, any earlier additions that I later delete show up in the margin as deleted text (rather than simply disappearing).  This is confusing for my clients, who only want to see my final changes and not the history of my train of thought. Of course, I can resolve the problem by rejecting the change instead of deleting the added text, but (a) I don't always remember to do that, and (b) this is still awkward, especially where I rewrite a given bit of text several times, making new additions and deletions each time. Can anyone advise as to how I can alert the system that when I return to a document, it should treat previous tracked changes as still active? I know there must be a way to do this because the problem only arises with some documents. I suppose there is something about the settings in the original document as it is sent to me that affects this, but for the life of me I can't figure out what that is. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Multiple Alignments within a paragraph

I have a document where the last line of a paragraph is forced to justify (using shift+enter). The line after that I want to center but this isn't happening no more. Before I use to use the style separator to do this but I guess due to new layout formats from Microsoft that isn't possible. Is there any new or better way of doing this?

microsoft word saving documents with a~$

Sometimes when I go to save a document, I find that it has been saved with a ~$ replacing the first 2 letters of what i named the document. it then will not open the document when i try to, stating that there is a problem with the contents. But it saved fine when i did it, or seemed to anyway. Then when I click on the Details button of that error it says the file is corrupt and cannot open. Help! And thank you. 

Office 13 and Word won't run

I'm about ready to strangle this thing. No matter how many times i mess with settings, run the fixit tool, and look for answers, everything comes up short.

My problem is easy to explain. Nothing from office 2013 will start. I double click the icon, or select from start menu, and for a split second the program will show up in the task manager (i.e. "Winword.exe") then immediately close without doing anything.

I can't seem to find anyone else with this specific problem. is there a fix for it?

I can go into Word Options and click on Display and in the "Show this number of recent documents" I can change the number to 0, but when I come back later it has reset itself back to 17. Why give the option to change it if it's going to default back to 17?

There are  other who use this computer and I don't want them seeing my recently opened documents!

Outlook Express is part of MS Internet Explorer and the OE program name is MSIMN.exe (MS Internet Mail & News). Usually an Office
update wouldn't remove a portion of Internet Explorer, although it's possible that a shortcut to it could have been 'corrected' if
it was found by the MS Installer to be damaged in which case you might have to do a search for MSIMN.exe to be able to use it.

It looks like that will be able to answer the question. Also it appears that
the last five digits of the Product ID are the same as the last five digits
of the barcode on each COA label. Between the two I should be able to sort
things out.

A common misunderstanding of going back to a previous restore point is
that it only restore the registry and a few other Windows control
files. It does not restore any application, such as Office, files that
were deleted or replaced. You'll need to run the Cleanup utility that
Mary mentions and then reinstall the legal copy of Office.

I found a way to change icon. The problem happens because of remains of
Microsoft Office 2003.

I changed icon via "Folder Options" -> "File Types".
There is a possibility to change icon for specific file types.

The problem was because there was set path to deleted file with icons

C:\Doents and Settings\ProfileName\Application
Data\Micorosoft\Installer\(90110409600-11 D3-8CFE-01 5O048383C9}\pptico.exe



A provided the same file name as for *.docx doents and this solved the
problem.

Hi Stacy,

GPO deployments basically don't use .MSP files, so you'll need to go with a different approach using config.xml files and or scripts
to pull in your changes rather than using the new Setup.exe /Admin feature.

run the setup.exe on my test PC. It works and I have installed Office 2007
Std with all updates using this method.

The problem that I seem to be having is that I want to include the PDF

Install Popup problems

Thanks for the response. I was not able to fix the problem with the install
CD nor was I able to uninstall through add/remove programs. I was able to
solve the problem by using the "Microsoft Installer Cleanup" application.
Worked like a charm.

Here's how:-

On the Windows 2003 server cd there is a Support Tools install that can be
installed on the Ad machine.
1. Once you have this installed go to (Start | Programs | Windows 2000
Support Tools | Tools | ADSI Edit).

2. Expand Domain NC (domain name).

3. Expand DC=domain controller name.

4. Expand CN=Users.

5. Find the user that is not showing up. Right click on the user and choose
properties.

6. In the properties window under the Attributes tab click on the drop down
for Select a property to view and choose userAccountControl.

7. This will give you a Value number.

8. Take a look at this microsoft KnowledgeBase article 305144
<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305144> to find out
what that number means.

If a password is not required for the user then that could be one reason why
the user is not showing up.

9. From within ADSI edit you can change the value of the user. A value of
512 means normal user. This user would then show up in User Manager. Compare
the values with the users that do show up.

Note - When changing the userAccountControl you are changing the settings of
the user so please be careful when making these changes

It can probably be scripted to do bulk updates - but don't ask me how!

Hi Matt,

Thanks so far, now the next problem appears... When I safe the changes they
do not appear in the excisting and even the new leads. I even tried to make
changes in a form that is never been used in our company, the results where
the same.

Any thoughts how to solve this?

The best tool I know to insert or update information is Scribe. It really
easy to use if you already comfortable with SQL server. You can have
different type of licences 45 days or complete licence.

The 6000 byte limit only aplies to whether or not the full record can be stored
in the conflict tables. You can go beyond 6000 bytes with CRM with tion
enabled.

2 Formatting Questions - Currency and Dates

Currency

You are definately not the only one asking for multicurrency support. Today
you could achieve multicurrency in reports (in theory) however with the next
release of CRM. However right now any talk of the next release features etc
is speculation until Microsoft locks down the specs and publicy announces
them. Keep watching this group as we'll post when we know publicy available
information

About the framework I have installed the latest update and asp.net is already
installed. Win share point working fine. During the installation I have
checked the same security account "local system" for Microsoft CRM, Crystal
Enterprise, and ASP.NET.

My concern was that I want my users to be able to see, in the ListView, all
the Cases that may exist for a given Account or Contact, but be able to open
(I mean, with double-click) only the ones that they own. I understood that

I have this error: 80070643 I haven tried the Office 2003 fix, and I have removed and re-installed .NET and I'm still getting the 80070643 error. Can you help? 

How can I set up word 2007 to NOT change font to MS Mincho whenever I type a zodiac symbol?

Whenever I type any of the zodiac symbols the font is changed to MS Mincho and I have to change it back. Even in my web browser these symbols are forced to be rendered as MS Mincho. I particularly dislike the way these characters look in MS Mincho and would like to prevent MS Mincho from ever being a usable font, however I can't delete it because it's a "Microsoft Protected Font"

So can you please help me out and let me know how to remove it or completely disable it? Because it doesn't display the zodiac symbols properly and they are being forced to display in MS Mincho.

converting a word document to PDF

Hi

I have built a 10 page word document for publishing on my website

I have installed a picture into this build and selected a page colour of blue-grey text 2 lighter 40% and converted to PDF

I require PDF for my Flipbook build software

the built PDF page shows a different lighter colour that of a much lighter blue-grey unspecified  I cannot find it in the standard colour options

Thinking it may be an issue as I had sent this Word build via Hotmail to a fellow webmaster, he adding his content then returning the document I then decided to start a NEW word build

printing off the original Word document I retyped the entire document onto a new build

Converting to PDF I got the same lighter colour result on the PDF build

So finally I did another Word build, this time just typing in a few words onto the page adding my blue-grey page colour , saving all and converting to PDF

it worked !!!!

Any ideas as to what is going on as I have been building these word/PDF files for months using this colour and have had no problem

I have incidentally removed the previous versions from the Word system and I still get this lighter colour in any new build

Can't reliably backup macros, autotext, quickparts

In order to safeguard my macros, autotext and quickparts, I've been backing up the relevant files (normal.dot, normalemail.dot, building blocks ) from %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Templates

However, when I restore the backed up files to 

%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Templates

they often do not have the backed up data (macros etc)

I have been restarting the machine before and after to ensure it isn't some kind of memory effect at work.

To make it more puzzling, it is not consistent: ....sometimes it does work. More often it doesn't

Office 2010 Office Home edition with Office Starter

I recently opened Word Starter and had licensing issues. It said to Uninstall and reinstall if problem persists. Well, I did the wrong thing and uninstalled Office 2010. Tried to  restore to earlier date, but couldn't do it for some reason.  What is the licensing problem and do I have to purchase Office to solve the problem? Is it possible to reinstall Office?

How can i recover previously cut text on clipboard?

Well i was working in word and i cut almost all my works to pass to another new document then i close it accidentaly even though it said soemthing of clipboard. I didnt read it and i pressed no..  

Later i opened a new document and i find out i cant ctrl+ v now. Please help me to recover i just lost the entire essay that i have to give in IB. More than 15 hours are wasted.... Apparently i didnt have the option of Make backup on neither it shows a previous version. WHAT CAN I DO PLEASE I AM DESESPERATE!!! 

Word 2013 not opening transferred documents

I have had a problem opening documents in word that are created on other computers.  This is a work PC and we normally share documents via Google Talk and email and every time I attempt to open a document I get this error message:

Recent documants

I can go into Word Options and click on Display and in the "Show this number of recent documents" I can change the number to 0, but when I come back later it has reset itself back to 17. Why give the option to change it if it's going to default back to 17?

 

There are  other who use this computer and I don't want them seeing my recently opened documents!
