Microsoft Word - Thai letters on MS Word on iPhone

Thai letters on MS Word on iPhone

Posted: 05 Oct 2014 10:36 AM PDT

Hello all :))

I use on my iPhone 5S applications Office Mobile and OneDrive for editing mostly Word file. Everything is working well until I work with Thai alphabet and it's letter, rectangles are showed instead. Even I am not Thai, I need to work with it and this issue is limiting and annoying. I expect high level from Microsoft products. This makes me very dissapointed.

Maybe it's my fault, I do something wrong. Therefore I would like to ask whether can I solve this, if so >> HOW? If I cannot do anything, is any update incoming soon? Is Microsoft dealing with it right now? Why it is not working well? Moreover I wonder, why are emoticons working and regular language used by milions of people not?

Thank you for any detailed reply and I'd like to appologise for wrong format of my question and also many mistakes, my English is poor ;((

I send this picture to describe my problem clearly.

Microsoft Office Word 2010 Program File Lost?

Posted: 05 Oct 2014 10:35 AM PDT

I have the 2010 version of the Home and Student Microsoft Office. The Microsoft Word can only be opened through the shortcut created (pinned to the taskbar), as the actual program file appears to be missing. I haven't found it through a search at all, and it is not saved as a file in the same place as Excel and Powerpoint.

Is there a way to get the program file back from the shortcut? To clarify, I can use Word 2010, but it is only available as a shortcut, not an actual program/application.

Some HTML links do NOT work in MS Word

Posted: 05 Oct 2014 10:31 AM PDT

I am using MS Word 2003 on a Win 7 64 bit system.

I  created a word document, and added many HTML links to it.   Many work, several do not.

The following is an example of a link that works directly - paste in any browser and it works,   but NOT from my MS Word 2003 document.

When I click on this in my document, I get a dialog saying "Unable to open ....the internet site reports that item you requested could not be found.  (HTTP/1.0 404)"

What might be the problem ???

How do I set Word 2007 as the default for word (.docx, .doc) files instead of Word 2013?

Posted: 05 Oct 2014 10:18 AM PDT

I have Word 2007 and Word 2013 installed on my desktop computer. I would like Word 2007 to launch when I click on Word (.doc, .docx) documents in Windows Explorer, rather than Word 2013. I am running Windows 7 SP1 with the latest updates.

(I want Word 2007 as the default because in Word 2013 the fonts are not displayed with ClearType and are uncomfortable to read - I have tried all the offered workarounds but they do not work for me. The problem has been widely discussed in many forums - eg: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-performance/blurry-text-in-windows-8/ed053d17-b525-4e09-bdbc-de91114d975c? )

I have tried setting Word 2007 as the default without success.

I have tried two methods:

1 - right-clicking on a Word (2013) file icon in Windows Explorer and selecting Open With... and then Choose Default Program.  I am only offered the choice of Word 2013 and when I browse to the location of Word 2007, it ignores my choice (perhaps because they are both called winword.exe)

2 - in Control Panel I have gone to Default Programs. Word 2013 is shown but not Word 2007. When I click on Word 2013 it only allows me to select the file types it can open (eg .docx) - it does not let me deselect them.

I suspect I may have to change some setting in the registry.

Can anyone advise a fix?

Many thanks

Microsoft Word 2013 doesn't work offline

Posted: 05 Oct 2014 08:54 AM PDT

After confirming my Microsoft account with my email to use Microsoft word 2013,  every time I open it again, it asks for my account info again like it didn't get it the first time. Microsoft word 2013 will not work offline either, even if the file has been saved on my local drive and not online. It won't open at all and tells me I'm not connected to a server. Why should that matter if it's a local file? Does it surreptiously save the file on their cloud without the user's consent?

I tried to get tech support and they wanted to charge me either $99 or $149, dependent upon which package I chose to go with it. Of course I declined this amazing bargain for help on something that should be free.

Does anyone else have this problem? And what did you do?

Can't open Excel or Word e-mail attachments

Posted: 05 Oct 2014 06:04 AM PDT

Split from this thread.

I have this issue with not being able to open excel or word within Outlook. Even if I save the files to my desktop or documents, they will never open if originating in Outlook thru an email send. I've gone to Trust Center settings and all is checked. When trying to open, it says "opening in protected view" and never opens. This is a huge issue and of course, hp (my new computer vendor) won't help

Typing delay in Word - not about the animation

Posted: 04 Oct 2014 08:28 PM PDT

Hi,

Since I upgraded to Office 365 I've been experiencing a never-seen-before lag while typing on Word. I've used every version since Office 95.

I use AutoHotKey to speed up my typing but, still, there shouldn't be any noticeable delay.

I searched a bit and found that registry tweak to disable Word 2013's typing animation, but that's not all. It's like I'm running on Pentium II with 32MB of RAM. It's also not about the zoom level.

I also tried running Word on safe mode, but no luck. Typing in the notepad should not be THAT faster. And I'm talking about blank documents, not ongoing big ones.

What can I do to streamline my typing experience in Word?

My Setup:

MoBo: Gigabyte Z77M-D3H

Memory: 8192MB DDR3 Corsair 1333MHz

VGA: Saphire ATI Radeon HD 7770 1024MB 128 bits @1920x1080

You could replace the "Landing Page" in the CRM directory with a
RedirectorPage that requires a click to close, then it loads the CRM
loader .aspx page.

Then if you enable default content pages in the CRM website properities
and added this redirector page to the top of the list it should always
load first when you hit the web site.

Many sites are confiigured with redirectors for non SSL connectors.
This enforces a redirection of any general web connections to the SSL
Page.

Althought this might be an usupported configuration it is a prety safe
customization.

Reinstall problem

Posted: 11 May 2005 12:41 PM PDT

Hi Rob,

It turns out that I was using the wrong install package. There was a copy
of the CRM 1.0 disk on the system. It looks a lot like the 1.2 setup...
Except for that big 1.0 in the opening license agreement page. :-)

Using the CRM 1.2 install worked perfectly.

Moral of the story, when troubleshooting don't forget the simle stuff.

Thank you for responding.

We regulary have this problem. We wrote a simple vb app using the MS CRM
APIs to query the accounts using the ExecuteQuery method in the CRMQuery
class, then for each account returned - delete it using the delete method.

We then did a simple tidyup for the contacts - although 98% had already been
deleted. Takes about 3-4 hrs to run for about 10000 records.

Access CRM from Internet

Posted: 10 May 2005 05:14 PM PDT

We have a demo for the CRM using the Adventure Cycles which clients can
access from the internet.
We have a sub domain called www.crm.<company name>.com.au, and this then
fowards all traffic to our public IP address. We use a SonicWALL VPN,
firewall, router and switch etc etc (very good unit), and this unit then
routes incoming traffic on port 80 from this sub domain to our web server (as
our personal internal CRM runs on 8083). The web server recognizes the
incoming packets from the sub domain address, (which we added into the CRM
web site in the IIS on the web server) and then directs it to the CRM web
site and then provides a log-in box.
It's that easy haha, I hope my description isn't too confusing and gives you
some idea of how to do it without an ISA server.

Good Luck!

Microsoft Word - Inserting an Excel Sheet into an MS-Word Document

Microsoft Word - Inserting an Excel Sheet into an MS-Word Document

Inserting an Excel Sheet into an MS-Word Document

Posted: 04 Oct 2014 01:53 PM PDT

All the documentation essentially says to copy from Excel and paste into the MS-Word document. When I do that, the formatting of the MS-Word table is so different from the Excel sheet that this method is practically worthless, especially for larger or more complex spreadsheets. For example, the individual cells are frequently expanded to two rows even for simple numbers. In addition, the size of the table frequently exceeds the page size of the MS-Word document. These MS-Word tables are extremely cumbersome to modify, requiring individual cell-by-cell adjustment. If complicated, the tables are so greatly misshapen that one cannot grab, move or modify the table, and it is entirely unusable. See the example attached. In these instances, I've taken to pdf-ing the Excel sheet, converting it to a jpg format, then inserting it as a picture into the Excel document. This has the advantage that a picture is easily scalable, and MS-Word handles picture insertions ten times better than it handles Excel tables. Incidentally, I never have this trouble with tables in PowerPoint or Publisher or (God help us all) WordPerfect. This leads me to believe that these difficulties are actually involved with Microsoft's structural vision of what should be done in MS-Word vs. the market segmentation for Publisher.

Or possibly, there is some other insertion or linking mechanism that works better. Am I doing it incorrectly? Does anyone have a better suggestion?

Office 365 vs. Online

Updating old word document with consistent styles

Posted: 04 Oct 2014 01:30 PM PDT

I have "inherited" a Policies and Procedures manual which unfortunately has been worked on by many individuals which various style choices.  I would like to update this document which has indented subtitles with many levels i.e. 1., then indented subsection 1.1, then indented again subsection 1.1.1, and on and on - you get my drift.  Is there an easy way to apply a standard template of sorts that doesn't have me editing each and every line but that also allows anyone who edits this document after me to easily follow the new style template - I'm thinking maybe tab once and automatically the format is consistent, tab twice and the indent and formatting change yet again but consistent with the document????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm using Word 2010.

Some HTML Links do not work in MS Word 2003

Posted: 04 Oct 2014 10:06 AM PDT

I have a MS Word 2003 document with many html links to various internet sites. Some of the links do work, others do not.   This same situation occurs on multiple PCs with same document.   No internet connection related problems known.   Websites vary - all websites are fine.   Does not appear to be related to URL whatever ... HTTP / HTTPS.  Working links have both.   Non working links have both.

For the links that do not work, I can edit the link, copy the destination, paste that into Internet Explorer, and it works just fine.

The destination websites do not appear to be the problem.

When clicking on the link, the error dialog says "Unable to open http:// .... The Internet site reports that the item you requested could not be found. (HTTP/1.0 404).

What might be the problem ?

Someone said "spurious characters in link"  ??? I copy link and paste into browser - it works.

Ghost Files in Word; how to get rid of.

Posted: 04 Oct 2014 09:57 AM PDT

I have Ghost files in at least one folder that look like this ~$ile name. Note, at least the first letter of the file name is missing, and in some cases several. I believe they are temp. files, but why are they showing up inside the folder that is holding the actual files. Also, when I look at the folder it looks like a hand is holding it. I was sharing this folder with my other laptop but then decided to copy the files to my other laptop. I copied by dragging the folder from one laptop to the other. However, I copied several folders the same way at the same time, and only one of the folders, that I am aware of, has those ghost files. At present they are just annoying and I would like to get rid of them. Is there a way for me to do this? If I can't get rid of them, can they cause problems down the road?

I am using Word  2007, and Windows XP on the laptop with the original file. My other laptop is running Windows 8.1

I have read about ghost files in the Community but what is written does not seem to pertain to my specific problem.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Any idea why Word 2013 ignores a style specification but, Word 2007 does not do that with identical specification, as demonstrated below?

Posted: 03 Oct 2014 06:04 PM PDT

  • In Office 2007, we notice that the Heading 1, as per specification, leaves 250 spaces above the heading.
  • But then, with same specification in Word 2013, Heading 1 positions itself at the top of the page, ignoring the same spec.
  • Any solution?

Word 2013 - Start a Footer on the Third Section and Blank on First Two Sections

Posted: 03 Oct 2014 05:58 PM PDT

  • Windows 8.1 Pro - 64 bit
  • Office 2013 - 64 bit (standalone version as part of Office 365 enterprise)
  • Word 2013

I am trying to create a document with the following attributes:

  • Title page in its own section (easily done)
  • Table of Contents in its own section following title page (easily done)
  • Body of the document with a footer
    • Footer begins on this section only. Prior sections should have no footer. (This is where I am having difficulty)
    • Footer has a page number starting at one (easily done)

I can create a title page and create a table of contents. When I attempt to add a footer (Blank three Columns), on the third section, I deselect "Link to Previous". Unfortunately, the first two sections now have a footer templates at the bottom of the pages. In other words, when I look at the bottoms of title and table of contents pages, I see "type here".

How can I insert a footer starting on the third section while absent on the first two sections?

Thank you.

How do I modify HTML web pages that have been copied and pasted into Word?

Posted: 03 Oct 2014 04:46 PM PDT

One of the more interesting features of Word (all versions) is its ability to display an HTML web page as an editable document, including images, text, and formatting. Problems arise, however, in understanding and removing all the tables, boxes, and other extraneous elements that are also included on the page. If the intention is to create clean pages which contain images, text, and some of the website's original formatting, what is the best way to remove everything else?

MSCRM is licensed on a named-user basis. This means that anyone who users the
app should have a license. Unfortunately, hey do not offer a read-only license.

Technically, an app that uses SDK calls to retrieve data and display it should
also require a license. There is some gray in this though. If you are
concerned about the retrievals, then you can always try to access the tales
directly via SQL. This is allowed, but not supported.

As fro the EULA text, it is on the installation CD and most likely is copied to
the server as well.

Hi Oscar~

Rob is correct that the incoming e-mail is being processed by more than one
of the CRM Exchange Connectors. To get around this please follow Rob's
suggestion or consider placing a front-end Exchange server that will
process all incoming e-mail. Then the CRM Exchange Connector will only need
to be placed on this server.

In regards to your second question, what you are experiencing when sending
e-mail out of CRM with duplicate activites being created is by design for
CRM. A separate e-mail activity is created for each recipient.

Can't access CRM

Posted: 10 May 2005 02:01 PM PDT

Thank you - I wasn't aware of this update.
I have now applied a host header to the website I originally created for CRM

However I still have the same problem. When I set the crmweb with the same
IP as the network card internal address the default website stops working and
when I type http://servername/crmweb I getpage not found.

Are there changes I need to make to the CRM installation to reflect the host
header? Or should I uninstall and reinstall CRM?

Also did you have a comment on my question re the CRM exchange connector?

Thanks.

The All Leads view is not All Leads.

Posted: 10 May 2005 12:58 PM PDT

Larry,
There is a way around this...
1) In the IE client, go to Home | Settings | Business Unit Settings |
Teams
2) Click New Team, give the Team a name, such as "Admins", and Save the
Team.
3) Click on the Members team, the Add Members button, and add your
System Admin to this team.
4) Go to Home | Settings | System Customization | Leads | All Leads
5) Select Actions | Sharing on the All Leads view customization screen.
6) Click on the Add Team button, click Go, double-click on the Team
Name you created. Click OK.

You have now "shared" the All Leads view with only those people in that
group. "Sharing", in a uniquely Microsoft definition of the word, in
this case means to restrict access to everybody, except those with whom
you share the view. Which means in this case that your regular users
can no longer see this view!

Now, create a new View, name it whatever you like, Filter however you
like, and voila, problem solved... HTH,

Dave

Question about security setting

Posted: 10 May 2005 02:33 AM PDT

Thanks for reply Dan.

Two users are in the same BU.
Actually, I created a new BU called "Local Sales", with parent BU set to
"Adventure Work Cycle", and there's no child BU under "Local Sales".

For the "Local Sales" BU, only 2 users belong to it, cs and cs_manager, and
they both grant to role called cs_user.
One of the owner of the Accounts that cs_manager should not be seen is
"Administrator", and he is under "Adventure Work Cycle" BU. Actually,
cs_manager able to view all acounts that created by different BU, that's why
it's so rare....and cs with the exact same setting but only able to view
"Local Sales" owner's accounts.
I also checked that there are no sharing among those Accounts, and there's
no team setup for two users.
One thing that maybe an issue is that cs_manager is the Manager of cs, will
that be an issue? But I can't remove that Manager relationship once I
assigned.

Please help, thanks.

Ken

Corrupted message tracking database file

Posted: 19 Jul 2007 02:34 PM PDT

1. it reads through all the tracking logs.

2. Tracking logs are text files, 20 columns/fields.

So, wither delete the bad message tracking log or use notepad to fix it.

Exchange 2007 New Mailbox Error

Posted: 19 Jul 2007 09:04 AM PDT

Ok I was attempting to correct another error on the exchange server 2007, in
regards to the SSL cert and the FQDN. This had me restart the server, which
has corrected the new mailbox error.

Restore Exchange 2003 Server Std. to another Hardware

Posted: 18 Jul 2007 03:58 AM PDT

You will have to rebuild from scratch then. You will be able to remount your
database/s providing it isn't corrupted, but all mailboxes will be in a
dismounted state and you will have to manually re-attach to AD user
accounts. Tak great care to ensure your Exchange Org name, Administrative
Group etc match what you originally had, or you will have to re-isntall
Exchange again to correct this.

This link should give you all you need:
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Restoring-Exchange-Server2003-Alternate-Hardware.html

Or failing that you could just build a new server without having to follow
the specifics above and use a tool like Quests' Recovery Manager for
Exchange to extract your mail data out of your backed up exchange databases.

Stop the smtp service on an Exchange 2007 server?

Posted: 18 Jul 2007 03:06 AM PDT

What you might be able to do is create a SMPT Send connector for the hotmail
domain, then at the interval disable the connector for that domain.

Doing this will allow the rest of the mail traffic to continue flowing. I am
just starting to work more with E2007 and in researching have found that the
system has STMP Connectors for both send and recieve that you can configure
seperatly for different mail domains.

There are power shell scripts that ship with E2007 that will allow you to
disable and remove the connector as well ad add it back in. When you create
the connector in the GUI it displays the script in a text box, this script
can be called from powershell with the exchange commandlets enabled.

Exchange Rollup, OWA, & Mobile Active Synch - Please Help

Posted: 17 Jul 2007 02:04 PM PDT

Ok guys... I worked with microsoft on this to get it resolved. I had to
uninstall and reinstall the CAS. One trick... when trying to remove the CAS
(through add/remove which is the recommended way... not through cmd) it gave
me an error message telling me that a policy restricted which DC I could use
and that I had to use the /domaincontroller switch. I had to remove
HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/MSExchange ADAccess/Instance0 (use at
own risk!) to get the CAS to remove. After removal, reinstalled the CAS and
everything is working beautifully again.

users getting undeliverable msg for forwarded mail in 2003 - content type that is not supported

Posted: 16 Jul 2007 08:37 AM PDT

Ed - The original sender that is bouncing is a small company that uses the SMTP
in their office suite to send. They have a problem when sending to each other,
the forwarded email to yahoo bounces.

I moved them from an old Exchange 5.5 to Exchage 2003 on Sunday nite. They had
the same forwarding to yahoo setup before, and it worked without problems.

So, this confuses me. They didn't suddenly turn into a company flagged for spam
overnight, and they are using the same SMTP (their office supplies) as before.

If it were my Exchange (the ip did change) that yahoo doesn't like, then it
would bounce back a message sent from me on the same server (my emails to them
got forwarded to yahoo without problem).

Now, I've got an SPF setup for my domain and the mail server. I'm going to set
one of for the company having problems (but not yet due to hotmail issue I'll
mention below)

But, all of this seems like black magic at times. I can send an email from them
(using my SMTP) to my hotmail account and it arrives. If I send one from myself
(same SMTP server), but with my return address, it disappears.

My SPF record (about the only difference), seems to be working against me here
for some reason.

Mine looks like:

@ TXT "v=spf1 ip4:x.x.x.x-all"
mail TXT "v=spf1 ip4:x.x.x.x-all"

Ahhhhh!!!

Thanks, Les Caudle

Messageclass changed

You might want to post this in the exchange.development newsgroup.

When you send messages between Exchange servers, the recipient objects, as
defined in the global address list, Outlook contact, personal address book
entry, or one-off address generated in the client, must be configured to use
rich text, and your connectors must be configured to not convert rich test
to HTML or plain text or else you'll probably lose forms and message
formatting.
