Inserting a jpeg file into a Word document results in a thin line outline but not the graphic Posted: 14 Jun 2013 11:36 AM PDT I have attempted to insert a jpeg and a gif configured graphic into a Word document with the same result each time. An outline appears as a thin solid line but the graphic itself does not show up. I am using the Insert/Picture path and have selected the graphic I want to insert, then selecting Insert. |

Nvidia 210M crashes Office 2013. Posted: 13 Jun 2013 12:58 PM PDT Never had any problems with Office 2010 Pro Plus. But after upgrading to Office 2013 Pro Plus Office constantly crashes. Just out of curiosity I switched my computer to use the low power Intel Video card and Office 2013 doesn't crash anymore. I am using the latest graphics driver provided by Asus for the UL50VT. The video card is Nvidia 210M but Asus doesn't allow Nvidia's driver to be used. Any help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. |

Index has multiple entries (Word 2010) Posted: 13 Jun 2013 10:13 AM PDT I am having consistent problems in my indexes. Some index marks in the text that are identical (copied from one page and pasted onto the other pages) are shown twice in the index. Sometimes one of the extras has no page number associated with it. I suspect that the problem has something to do with Review and how it acts. Is there any way to totally disable Review? I never use it and I always hav |
Problems opening documents made in Word 2007 after installing 2010 student version. Posted: 13 Jun 2013 07:39 AM PDT Installed 2010 student version but left 2007 programs that were not in 2010 student version. Install deleted 2007 Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Worked fine for months but now everytime I try to open a document made in Word 2007 and sometimes any Word document, computer screen goes to installing office 2007. If click stop installation, cancel, etc through 3 screens the document eventually opens. Computer now erratic; crashes in Word, freezing of cursor and turning computer off. Microsoft Security Essentials has not picked up any viruses. Could the problems be from conflict between 2007 and 2010? Should I let the computer reinstall Office 2007? Will it delete 2010? |
Posted: 12 Jun 2013 09:26 PM PDT I am trying to write a macro to Return the Word count for each questions. I can make a selection but range.words.count returns a higher number than the Status bar word count (7 c.f. 5 or 256 Cf. 219) The specific Code I am using is 'Go to Top of Documnet Selection.HomeKey Unit:=wdStory ' Skip Cover Sheet Application.Browser.Target = wdBrowsePage Application.Browser.Next 'Store Current position StartLocation = Selection.Range.Start 'Move To Next Heading Application.Browser.Target = wdBrowseHeading Application.Browser.Next EndLocation = Selection.Range.Start ' Select fromstart to end ActiveDocument.Range(Start:=StartLocation, End:=EndLocation).Select ' Get and Return the word count wc = Selection.Range.Words.Count MsgBox ("Words for this section are " & wc) I can't see I have done something wrong inthe code; I can only see that the microsoft Selection object has the wrong value. Adding a watch to the selection also shows the High Value. Yet in the document at the same time the actual word count is the lower number ( and correct) To test : On the second page of the document place three paragraphs, Tow of style Heading 1 and the Middle paragraph a known number of words. |
Posted: 12 Jun 2013 07:34 PM PDT Using Word 2010 running on Windows 8. My font keep getting larger and larger. The size of font 12 is about one inch tall on my display. In order to make it look reasonable I need to set the font to 4 or lower. What is causing this problem? |
Word drawing grainy/pixily after web publishing Posted: 12 Jun 2013 07:17 PM PDT I created a drawing in Word 2003 for my business. It looks great. When I copy and paste it to Microsoft Front Page 2003 it looks great, after publishing to the web, it looks very grainy/pixily. How can I publish MS Word drawings to the web without this grainy appearance? |
editing the header differently for each page of a document Posted: 12 Jun 2013 09:51 AM PDT I have edited an existing document and need to amend the page numbers by editing the header on each page (so that it links correctly to the index).
However every time I edit the header on 1 page it automatically updates every other page, making my index meaningless! How do I override this so I
can edit the header on every page so something different is displayed ie the index page reference)?
I m hoping someone understands this rambling?!! Thank you, Kat

Page numbering is a chapter number behind Posted: 11 Jun 2013 01:24 PM PDT I broke my document into sections and set page numbering in each section to include the chapter number. The pages in Section 1 are numbered correctly--I-1, I-2, I-3, etc. But when Section 2 begins, the chapter heading contains 2, but the page numbers are once again I-1, I-2, I-3, etc. When we get to Section 3 (whose heading contains the correct number 3), the page numbers are II-1, II-2, II-3; Section 4 is III-1, III-2, etc., and the remaining chapters include the previous chapter number in their pages as well. I'm using the same Heading 1 style for the beginning of each section. The Page Number Format settings for each section are Include chapter number, start with style Heading 1, Use hyphen separator, and Page numbering Start at 0. Section breaks are all continuous. What might I be doing wrong? |
My files change to Read-only arbitrarily Posted: 11 Jun 2013 12:22 AM PDT Win 7 64-bit I have Office 2010. My problem has NOT been answered. I access my files with no problem. Then sometimes (maybe 5% of the time) after I have done some editing, the file changes to READ-ONLY all by itself. I want to know how to stop Word from arbitrarily changing the status of the file. Thankyou. Paul |
