No color

Posted: 01 Dec 2004 08:59 PM PST

Hi Mike!

Yes, it's printing in shades of gray.
Printer options are set to "normal" and "color".
I even went into "properties" and "advanced". I saw nothing, that I could
tell, that would cause this problem. It seems to be universal throughout the
MSWorks programs such as brochures, letters, ect.
I also restarted the computer hoping it was one of those pesky gremlins.

I did a test page using MSWorks..."This is a test" in various color fonts.
It came out
grey scale

The printer iself, (HP PCS) is ok, I just made a color copy and it came out
fine.

This is weird!

Can MS Works open MS Word documents ?

Posted: 01 Dec 2004 11:12 AM PST

1) Are you getting an error message? The issue may be that Word Viewer is not set as the
default application for DOC files. In order to fix the file association, see:
the Identifying Attachment File Types and Setting File Associations section of
Decoding Internet Attachments - A Tutorial
http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/decode.htm#identify

2) Since I have Office Installed, I don't have the Word Viewer installed. But I expect
that you can copy/paste text from it into another program.

EULA error Works Suite 2005

Posted: 29 Nov 2004 12:15 PM PST

Jimw thanks for the honest answer. I was able to install the separate
programs. I can't wait to see if there are many glitches in those. Stuck with
a suite when I should have gone for single room!

Starting A Database

Hi Andrew,

I notice the Windows operating system "Address Book" uses only one field for
"Title".

When making fields do you have to make seperate fields for each title ?
Example Mr, Mr&Mrs, Mrs,Miss.

xmas labels

Re-install your old Works in a different directory(you can have both). It
will read your Work7 database and merge it to xmas labels much easier.

Works 7.2 problem

Posted: 27 Nov 2004 11:29 AM PST

On some computer systems. Even through you can use standby.
When using standby and resuming from standby Works has a problem
loading. Restarting the computer will fix it. This does not matter
what os you are using.

Works "spurious" error messages

Posted: 22 Nov 2004 06:49 PM PST

Kevin,

Yes, I do have multiple versions of spreadsheet running at times. What I
actually meant was that I have several spreadsheets, and when I open any one
of them the error occurs, but in point of fact there often are several
entries for wkss.exe in the Task Manager. Is this normal?

Sometimes. I get yet another message to the effect that the file doesn't
exist or cannot be opened, and I solve this by going to Task Manager and
closing every occurrence of wkss.exe.

The KB article does quote the error message that I am getting,
viz.
Works cannot complete the task. Try restarting Windows, or reinstalling
Works.

I am running Windows XP Home SP2 and Works Suite 2002 and am logged in as an
Administrator (the only other account than Administrator).

The errors are annoying, but not fatal. Only occassionally have I found that
my edits on a spreadsheet were not saved.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

P.S. Sorry for the delay in replying but since I received an EMail re your
reply, I have unable to connect to this Microsoft site. Today, it came good
again!

Cheers
