My Microsoft Office Professional Plus hasn't been working for months Posted: 07 Sep 2014 11:06 AM PDT Every time I try to open any Office application (Word, Excel, etc) I get a different error code. I've tried both repairs from the Control Panel and those also return an error. What is going on?! |
Posted: 07 Sep 2014 10:48 AM PDT I have a file of email addresses. Each line ends with a paragraph mark, but WORD thinks I have only a single paragraph, so it won't sort the addresses. How can I sort them? Also Help has no information on sorting, as far as I can tell. |
Mail Merge is putting "0" in place of text Posted: 07 Sep 2014 10:25 AM PDT I have not seen this before and it seems that no one else has either! the block of fields in my Mail Merge document looks like this (screen capture with paragraph marks showing): Columns in the Excel spreadsheet data source all formatted the same ("General" format). After the merge, everything looks proper except that, where there are entries in the "Apt Num" column, the merge result is a single "0" (zero) for that line. As expected, if nothing in that column, the merge line is absent. Have tried everything I can think of and its driving me crazy! Any smart MVPs out there with a solution? |
Word 2010 - labels cant insert a row on 1st line Posted: 07 Sep 2014 09:28 AM PDT I have set my labels up with the label size etc and a document has opened up with the gridlines for the labels. All is well. However, in the 1st box I want to insert a row so the actual label address isn't not hard against the top of the actual label. I've tried insert but the whole document moves down a row. When I jump to the label opposite on the RH side, it will let me insert a row and the cursor moves down to the next line. What do I need to do to get this to work on the very first label? |
Posted: 07 Sep 2014 07:11 AM PDT In previous versions of word you could change the way that Ctrl plus Pg dn worked by clicking on the object browser at the bottom of the vertical scoll bar. This facility doesn't seem to be available in Word 2013. Moreover there doesn't seem to be any other way of changing the way the Ctrl plus Pg Dn works. I use it mostly to scroll a page at a time but once I've used the find function finding the word or phrase becomes the default function of Ctrl plus Pg dn. How do I change the functions of Ctrl plus Pg dn as I used to do in the past? |
Missing word document converted to an internet shortcut? Posted: 07 Sep 2014 07:05 AM PDT Hello, A few weeks ago I worked on several documents in Microsoft Word. I saved them to a folder on my desktop, so I could easily find them to save to my school's network when I returned to work. When I tried to open the file, it was completely missing from the folder I saved it in. I searched every way I knew how to find the missing document (in case I had accidentally saved it in a different folder, etc.). The only way I have found my files is through searching my C-drive. In doing so, I found the files, but instead of having a Microsoft Word icon next to it, they have internet shortcut icons. When I try to open the file I see an error message. When I look at the properties of the files, I see it is saved as an "internet shortcut". I have tried searching through recent documents as well, and it is no where to be found. See below at the screen shots I took to see what I mean: |

Word 2013 doesn't work if started as "C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Root\Office15\winword.exe" Posted: 07 Sep 2014 02:24 AM PDT Hi, Nuance's PaperPort 14.5 product includes a mechanism to OCR a scanned document and open the result automatically in Word. With Word 2013, this doesn't work, because PaperPort launches Word with the following command line: "C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Root\Office15\winword.exe" "c:\users\Stephane\AppData\Roaming\Nuance\PAPERP~1\14\Temp\file.docx" For some reason, Word 2013 doesn't work if started with the "short" (8.3) path to winword.exe (even Start / Run / C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Root\Office15\winword.exe) doesn't work). Why is that? Can anyone think of a workaround? |
Mircosoft Word 2010 won't stop crashing Posted: 06 Sep 2014 10:46 PM PDT I'm running a Windows 7 Del notebook, not sure if it's 32 or 64 bit. My Microsoft Word recently started crashing uncontrollably. I deleted everything I downloaded since it started, and nothing worked. Word still crashes every 2 minutes while I'm writing-it saves most of what I've written-but then does every two minutes for as long as I run it. It also crashes every time I try to change the text font or size, no matter what I do. I haven't tried installing and re-installing yet, because I've lost the code for word. If I don't need it again to access it, I'll try. Any other help is welcome, it's not urgent, but it's driving me nuts. Thanks! |
