Posted: 26 Mar 2007 08:46 AM PDT I had a simlar need, where my users needed to have their display name as "Firstname Surname: CompanyName Limited" on all outgoing emails my solution was to edit the Display Name on the General Properties tab in ADUC and it did iwhat I needed it to - I'm not sure what else this field is used for so maybe you can give that a try and see if it does what you need On 26 Mar, 16:46, "Mark" <com> wrote: |

You don't need to be sending replies to people because they'll just ignore them or query with their own IT staff what the heck is going on. It's just going to cause mayhem and confusion all round. If you are convinced that you are going to be offline for a few days you should just set up an Exchange Front End and make that Internet facing. The email will come into the FE and sit there until the BE can take it. As for the BE, you shouldn't be having downtime of more than an hour or so, ever. If you have a hardware failure you can bring up a new server with "dial-tone" databases (empty ones so that the users can get up and running quickly). If you want to move from one hardware platform to another then you should follow: http://www.swinc.com/resource/e2kfaq_appxa.htm to get the concepts. If you think you need the machine name to be the same then think again; you do not. If you have something else on that server that is making you think the machine name should be the same you need to get that away from the Exchage server because it's probably the cause of the instability. |
Custom Address vs SMTP Address Posted: 26 Mar 2007 01:29 AM PDT Custom refers to some other address type not supported by the administrative tool. For example, if you've done an interorganizational migration you might find the need to add addresses of type "X500" to preserve message replyability and Outlook Contact usefulness. -- Ed Crowley MVP - Exchange "Protecting the world from PSTs and brick backups!" exchange mail: smtp relay? smarthost? Posted: 22 Mar 2007 07:58 AM PDT Thank you for your reply. I think I'll be able to sort it out from here. I may be back with more questions.... I work for a wireless carrier doing tech support and we're starting to get alot of calls about push email to mobile devices. My roommate and I have decided the best way to support these customers is to install exchange and then work with push email ourselves. We may try installing a Blackberry Enterprise Server at a later date as well. Thanks again for your help. "Bharat Suneja [MVP]" wrote: |

Posted: 22 Mar 2007 02:33 AM PDT Hi, OWA displays the items from the exchange Mail store, know. ? What I was interested is, working from office, we can use Microsoft Outlook and we have a copy of all mails locally as a .pst file. And for remote using we use OWA. So that when we are back in office and open Microsoft Outlook, all the sent items and inbox items etc. from OWA will getting synchronised. ( a local copy can be maintained and we can delete some mails from OWA to keep the performance good). Regards, Aby "Lee Derbyshire [MVP]" wrote: |
